Why do nice jeans and pants that I find tend to be super cheap? I mean nice as in durable and rugged. Wranglers are some of the best jeans I’ve had and it’s the same story with them. What gives? Not complaining but confused

How do you know the Weatherproof pants are durable and rugged when you haven’t even worn them yet? Or at least worn them for an extended period of time.

As far as jeans go, it’s a case of a lot of other stuff being OVERPRICED rather than the Wranglers being "cheap". Denim is a cotton fabric when it comes down to it and isn’t that expensive. Factor in assembly-line style production processes and cheap foreign labor and you can pump them out for pennies.

They’re the same material as my carhartts. Not duck or denim, I don’t know what you call it. But they’re solid feeling work pants. I guess I technically don’t know until I wear them to work but they feel just as high quality

eh, they used to be. their work jackets are still pretty nice but everything else really suffered in both quality and fit. I got a "heavy duty" hoodie from them last year and it was just your average thin fabric china shit, fit like it was meant to be worn by someone with a gut twice the size of their whole body, started falling apart with minimal use.

leave the carhartt shit for lesbians who want to wear beanies and posers who think they work with their hands.

Your hoodie started falling apart? Tell me how I know you’re full of shit. I wear a carhartt hoodie every damn day and I work outside doing manual labor. You’re full of shit. Their hoodies are phenomenal and thick, their pants are great, everything else I really don’t know about.
            >the hoodie was thin
Nigga, compared to what? Your comforter? Gtfo, you’re talking out of your ass

Dude, lol. They’re thick as heck and really durable. Certainly not. I have the ones with the logos on the sleeves, I don’t know if those are somehow made differently, but definitely not in the same realm as the hoodies I get for free from work that are actually chinese shit with a logo printed on them. You just want to be upset

perhaps, its possible I got a fake or something, I know those do float around.

hell i’ve even gotten fake champion shit before. like how the heck do you fake an already budget brand

          • Anonymous says:

You must’ve gotten a fake man. There is a noticeable difference in quality. I get my Carhartt stuff at Academy or Dick’s Sporting Goods

I wouldnt really call them a budget brand anymore unless you get the shit thats sold at Marshalls. I wanted a pair of their reverse weave sweatpants for winter until I saw they’re $50

this is a $4 china hoodie with a carhart logo sewn in and you know im right.

I own this exact hoodie. Worked as a hydrologic tech with the USGS. it got ate up by brush, and after a few washes lost a lot of fluff. I wasn’t particularly impressed but I’m also not really a hoodie wearer. Bought it to beat the shit out of and did so. So meh

          • Anonymous says:

That’s weird. I work around brush and thorns and get rocks and shit thrown at this thing. They hold up very well for me. Very stained but one of my Carhartts have been around for over a year

          >Wish I could say ____ meant quality but nowadays I’m not so sure. Probably average at best
True for everything these days. No point in spending more for name brands when you could go elsewhere and get average without the name brand markup.

You must be standard shape. I wear size 28 pants and most cheaper brands either don’t sell those or they’re always out of stock so I’m forced to spend more for something that fits.

because $20 is all a pair of functional pants should ever cost. Most brands capitalize on label appeal, fashion and marketing. It’s nice to see weatherproof still just chillin at comfy margins not trying to gouge consoomers.

        …and?

99% of clothes you see on a daily basis are fashioned by poverty wage factory workers, and then even when its not, it was fashioned using textiles that were produced in mills run by poverty wage factory workers.

Unless you’re spinning yarn out of your dickhair its literally inescapable.

        • Anonymous says:

Literally wrong, there are decent textile companies that sell to decent tailors, just because you buy from unsustainable companies doesn’t mean everybody does.

no, no. cotton isnt just cotton. you people are all brainwashed.

when i buy a pair of jeans, there are a host of things i want to know: what mill does the cotton come from? what KIND of cotton is it? texas cotton? zimbabwe cotton? what is the weight of the fabric? 12 oz? 9 oz? 15 oz? what kind of DYE is used in the dye process for the jeans? plant dye? pigment dye? where were the jeans cut and sewn? where did the buttons, rivets and the stitching come from? where is the leather patch on the back from and what kind of leather is it?

these are just A FEW of the things you need to consider before buying cotton pants if you want to be an intelligent and informed consumer. I havent even gotten into the labor aspect really.

You’re like 17 years old bro. Nobody cares about your pretentiousness, especially not me that works for a living. Go to reddit with your stupid PETA tier opinion on hecking jeans

Another example is sunglasses. You can test UV protection and even those $1 dollar store sunglasses are 100% effective and polarized coating costs you about $10. Again, zoomers trying to explain to me that you have to pay $200 to "make sure" even though you can easily find testing proven that’s not the case. They come out of the same factory for heck sakes.

Yeah I wear generic fishing sunglasses for work and they’re great. I used to wear Sunclouds but after buying so many pairs from them getting scuffed at work, I tried out some cheap offbrand sunglasses from Academy and I’ve just been buying those ever since
