Once a week I’ll do either a clay mask or manuka honey mask. Don’t believe that they have much benefit, but it’s a bit o’ fun innit.

Honestly it’s the first chemical exfoliant that I learned about, started using it when I was 18 and have always had such good results I never felt the need to try any others. I’ve considered salicylic, but the AHA keeps my skin smooth enough that gunk doesn’t really get a chance to build up in the pores anyway.

I bought a tub of Some By Mi’s Propolis B5 mask on a whim while restocking and after using it twice I actually think it’s pretty nice. I’m using it immediately after the lactic acid and glycerin, and it seems to be taking the lactic acid sting/burn out much faster than usual.

yeah can guarantee everyone here just has an inflammation problem. They eat foods their bodies don’t respond well to. I stopped getting acne once i just made a baseline for myself with diet and then avoided eating too much of stuff prone to break me out like watermelon. Now I branch off the base diet and just go back to it when I notice acne – if it bothers me enough.

Is skin care a meme? Am I going to get any real benefit from rubbing anything besides sun block and high quality sunblock on my face? It seems more likely that I would just be hurting my skin. I am about to start taking collagen supplements.

    This stuff is awesome.
I usually just wash my face gently bar soap then put this on its dry nowadays.
When I was going out more socially I’d do an oil based makeup remover, rinse, then cleansing foam to wash, then this stuff, then facial milk, then facial creme on top of that before sleeping.

I’m almost exactly like . Very noticeable sebaceous filaments on the nose; and what seems to be more SF/enlarged pores on the cheeks. Rest of the face (beard area, forehead…) are just fine tho.

For sebaceous filaments the recomendation seems to be BHA (salycilic),

That’s unfortunate. Have you tried glycolic acid peel?

also reccomends an AHA (glycolic) for the pores; and

retinol/tretinoin, but it will take a while

retinol since it seems like an overall fix-everything for what i’ve been reading.

But what the heck do I need, AHA, BHA, Retinoid, combination? This is all just confusing as heck

      • Anonymous says:

start with AHA, and a peel if I was you. I can use a peel and get rid of my pores with just that. Having a good AHA situation can for some people, solve all problems, so don’t overwhelm your skin with a ton of new products.
When you stabilize to that routine, then consider low dose retinoid and move on from there. Get a good moisturizer.

I’ve used almost every salycilic acid wash I can find, tea tree oil/washes, and heck all works.
I’ve started taking vitamin B3 (niacinamide) supplements and face washes/night creams with them in but I’m not holding out any hope they’ll work either.

if you’re just starting out go with 0.2%. I recommend The Ordinary 0.2% retinol in squalene. after you finish it either continue with one more bottle or boost it up to 0.5%.

I have no acne anymore except for like right below my ass. It’s not on my actual butt, rather where my legs turn into your butt. Iv been trying everything to get rid of this acne but it’s always there. I shower after I lift and iv tried both Benzoyl peroxide and Salicylic acid washes but they can’t do the trick. What do you guys do for leg/butt acne?

just expect some redness since it’s your first time. start using it one or twice a week for maybe two weeks, then the third week use it three times, and again after some weeks use it four times or come to use it every other day.

redpill me on the ordinary 0.2% retinol, ive heard on reddit that its shit, but some other people on reddit say its good

I’ve been using it since June and have personally seen results with it. don’t know why reddit is saying it’s bad. most videos on youtube show before and after with about 6 months of use and it immensely improved their skin. Retinol just takes time and consistency but it’s practically guaranteed to work. if you want an even stronger version just use tretinoin

Recommendation for fellow dry skin/redness prone anons. I added this 99% aloe gel from Holika Holika into my skincare routine last week and my skin has been so much less red. Seriously, try it if you’re not satisfied with the hydration in your face, big ass bottle is only 9 bucks on Amazon

Question: has anyone tried cutting out seed oils completely for better skin? What were the results?

it seems worth a try. I’ve heard some people say that it’s good for the skin as well as greasy hair

    • Anonymous says:

Removing seed oils and anything fed with seed oils (e.g non-grass-fed meat or dairy) cured my acne. Its like night and day. Now if I eat something that has more than a few grams of omega-6/seed oils my face erupts with acne within hours.

I think the root cause of acne is low level systemic inflammation. For some subset of the population this will be fixed by removing the offending agents (e.g seed oils, dairy, gluten, soaps, pollen, viral infection, poor sleep, stress) unique to the individual.

As a guy who suffers from acne I wish I could just get away with using suncreen/moisturizer. If you have clear skin I dont understand why so many of you are falling for the exfoliation/retinoid meme. Male beauty standards are different from female ones. You dont need it. In my experience retinoids make the face look shiny and weird/artificial.

yall mf that have acne need to start taking vitamin B5 daily, also called pantothenic acid. When I heard this I thought it was a marketing plot meme but its real. Within a week of taking it 100% of my cystic acne and all the annoying tiny bumps on my forehead disappeared. I get my B5 off Amazon. Ive been just trying to spread this news whenever I see a relevant opportunity. Also literally no side effects for me either because its water soluble so if you overdose you just piss it out.

Do you wash your ears when you wash your face, or only when you wash your hair?
Also do you apply moisturizer to your armpits or crotch after shaving? Every online shaving guide for the face insists on applying *something* after the shave, but I’ve never heard anyone mention anything for those other areas and it seems kinda weird. I was thinking of applying my Cerave body cream but it has hyaluronic acid and I’m not sure that’s good for after-shave.

  42. Anonymous says:

What should I be washing my face with, lads? I just use a Neutrogena acne wash, but I feel I must be doing something wrong if I’m 28 and still have to put up with the occasional zit.

    • Anonymous says:

I’m 28 and still get breakouts (surface level white-heads and blocked pores, not cystic acne) because my skin is just very sensitive.
Try washing your pillowcases regularly, lowering your sugar intake if it is very high, and try a new shampoo/conditioner. Hell, if you wear headphones regularly, make sure to wipe them down regularly to remove oil and dirt.
Introducing more products isn’t necessary but can definitely help. A gentle tea-tree or witch hazel toner can help lower the chances of infection in tiny abrasions on the skin.

Maybe you need to actually wash your face for longer. Rub the cleanser in, rinse partially with water and then apply more cleanser. The difference between a 1-minute wash and a 5-minute wash can make a huge difference in some people, especially if you already have larger or deeper pores.

  43. Anonymous says:

Let’s heckING go. I switched from a salicylic acid 2% to this. Any anons have experience with this? Should I use it in the morning or at night? I typically use my hand lotion as a moisturizer (Eucerin advanced repair), would that be alright to use with this?

    • Anonymous says:

you don’t need moisturizer if you’re trying to reduce oil production with benzoyl peroxide

it is an exfoliant (like salicylic acid) with anti-microbial properties so it can help prevent spotty skin but if you use it too much, it can make your skin appear dry and flaky even while it is still producing too much oil

best results are obtained with intermittent use of exfoliants; only use exfoliants when you start getting black heads or comedones from excess oil, typically once a weak or so to act in a preventative manner.

more than that and you risk irritating the top layers and this can open you up to infection, redness and swelling

it is great to have a routine but not all routines need to be enacted daily

still, 5% wash is milder than 10% wash so your instincts are correct

      • Anonymous says:

Sounds like you know a lot about oily skin. Don’t mind the shine, I have a bit of coconut oil on it to soothe it.
Any ideas is this some nutritional deficiency, some allergy or something?

I’d see a dermatologist really, but seems similar to a thing I have/had (still in treatment). I literally have cells regrowing too quickly on the sides of my nostrils and they largely looks red/mildly irritated for months. Never spread but was prone to flaking and staying red with no pain. They got me on Pimecrolimus 1% cream as a immune suppressant, twice a day. It started to work well in the first few weeks but plateaued. I was also on clindamycin and tretinoin on their daily stuff to take care of minor acne. After a year I just stopped taking the tretinoin things got notably better around the nose. I think it was too much drying/suppressing action from taking all 3.

if its itchy and flakey, it could be a fungal infection. try applying mild anti-fungal ointments. Ketoconazole shampoo can do the trick if you have it. google some homemade antifungals if youre tight with money.
But you should get a derm have look it first if you can

It’s flakey periodically as new batch of skin flakes off. Othertimes it’s not itchy but sensitive. The area feels inflamed and constantly growing and sheding new layers of skin. Sometimes I have small periods where it calms down, isn’t red or flakey then a couple of days it starts all over again.
Eating omega 6 makes the inflamation worse, omega 3 makes it a bit better.
its been there for like a hecking year now, so clearly it’s not going to go away by itself.

if you cant afford a checkup from a dermatologist then try antifungals like i said. i have no idea what omega6 or omega3 have anything to do with this tho. an irritated patch thats itchy, flakey and is growing is very likely some kind of yeast infection.

            >i have no idea what omega6 or omega3 have anything to do with this tho
regulates inflammation in the body, low omega 6 and high 3 will mean you get less inflammatory response.
            >try antifungals like i said.
How would I use the ketocaonzole shampoo? As is? Diluted? smear and wash off? Smear and leave on?

          • Anonymous says:

smear and leave it ig. i have not tried it personally but i have seen actual dermatologists on yt recommend this.

Whats the timeline of your rash? How long ago did it appear? Does it come and go or is it constant? Is it getting worse or staying the same?

Is it itchy? Is it sore? Does it weep or produce oil?. Is it greasy or dry? It appears raised, is that true? Does the skin feel thicker than on the rest of the face? Do you have a picture of it at its worst?
Does it get better or worse in the sun? Do you smoke? Have you noticed anything else makes it better or worse?

Do you have any other rashes anywhere else on your body? Post a hq picture of the backs of both hands including nails.

Are you taking any medications or over the counter supplements? Do you have any other health conditions past or present? Do you have any joint pain? Any other symptoms past or present?

Does anyone in your immediate family have rashes, inflammatory bowel disease (crohns or colitis), ankylosing spondylitis, or any other autoimmune conditions?

Answering all of the above will give a clearer picture of what this rash is.

    What am I in for?
I don’t have particularly dry skin, at least not on my face, but I’ve read that ceramide are essential to good skin so I thought why not.

these look good i saw them on amazon. but they have fragrance don’t they? if so does it smell alot and of what? do you find the smell lingers?

      • Anonymous says:

Just applied a bit of both on my body, the red one is parfumed and the blue is not. The smell of the red is pretty tolerable and not that strong but I can still smell it on my legs after a few hours. It’s hard to describe it, I’d say it’s somewhat close to what baby products or laundry detergents usually smell like, like sort of chemical and "homely". I don’t think you’ll particularly like the smell but whether or not it’s tolerable depends on you. But compared to my nivea creme it’s not very strong.

Any recs for moisturizers with spf? I forget to sunscreen when I have to apply it separately from moisturizer. I tried the cetaphil moisturizer with spf, but i was looking for something with a higher spf protection.

    • Anonymous says:

i personally just use SPF as my moisturizer. but i tend to have oily skin so idk if that’d work if you have dry skin

    am
Peroxide cleanser, ordinary niacinamide, rovectin moisturiser, ultrasun spf 30 (I’m uk)
    pm
Cerave hydrating cleanser, inkey list retinol (2/3 times a week) & the niacinamide, cerave moisturising cream
Like once a week I’ll use the ordinary AHA exfoliator before bed

In the morning, if my face is a little puffy, I’ll put on an ice pack while doing my stomach crunches. I can do a thousand now. After I remove the ice pack, I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower, I use a water activated gel cleanser. Then a honey almond body scrub. And on the face, an exfoliating gel scrub. Then apply an herb mint facial mask, which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an aftershave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion.

how the heck do you use coconut oil on your body for skin care
if i put on any amount, i feel like a hecking greaseball and end up wiping it off, not sure if it even did anything

I’m 26 and I’d like to start a skincare routine to clear up my skin and take care of it, I’ve pretty much neglected it until now
Where do I start, what do I use?
I live in Europe btw, that will probably influence product availability
Would like to focus more on natural products and remedies and avoid chemical shit as much as possible

All this other stuff people mention sounds way too complicated with what works and what doesn’t plus it seems like you’ve got to pay attention to like 7 different things that run out and get used up at different times.

Anyone tried mineral sunscreens? I tried patyka and biosolis, but they leave this metallic smell that does not disappear for days. I also tried a korean one that is mostly all zinc, it would be perfect but that for some reason irritates my eyes. Anyone have some recommendations? Or maybe I just go back to the chemical type.

This is kind of a misconception – Your skin is more sensitive to the sun because it is fresh ‘baby’ skin being regularly turned over by the retinol product, not because of a reaction in the retinol product itself.
If anything, it’s a waste of product because the UV radiation breaks down the retinol before it has time to work.

    >Innisfree Apple Seed Cleansing Oil (for 2x cleanse when wearing spf during the day).
    >MISSHA All Around Safe Block Aqua Sun Gel.
    >PURITO Oat-In Calming Gel Cream (I experimented with a lot of moisturizers because most would break me out, due to them being too thick and clogging pores. I’ve been using this for a while and haven’t had problems).
    >ALPHA H LIQUID GOLD, with Glycolic Acid 5% (all in one exfoliant, toner and serum).
    >COSRX Acne Pimple Master Patch (literal lifesaver when you get a whitehead a day before an event, or even in the day of. I like this one as opposed to the Purito one, because it’s cheaper, yet works just as well, but also because it has the smallest size, 9×13 mm).

sadly, the acne treatment isn’t working. might go see a dermatologist. and maybe while there ask about Tretinoin.

any other recommendations? should I get a certain sunscreen for body?

I have pili multigemini and extremely thick, curly leg hair and basically all of my issues are solved by just scrubbing the absolute shit out of them with a rough exfoliating mitt or brush every night in the shower. I wax once a week to keep up (women or gay, u decide) and a large portion of the hairs grow up to an inch under the surface before becoming inflamed and needing to be dug out manually. Exfoliating stops that entirely and reduces scarring as long as I keep it up every day.

would La Roche Posay effaclar astringent lotion toner once in the morning and once at night as well as The Ordinary Retinol 0.2% twice a week be a decent routine?

the key to dermal absorption is penetration enhancers.
but they can also make you more susceptible to fungal infections so i don’t recommend them.

I think I’ve reached a point where I can confidently say that I know what I am doing.
    Rate my routine:

    Am:
    >cleansing lotion
    >Vit c
    >moisturiser
    >sunscreen

    PM:
    >foaming cleanser
    >tret
    >wait
    >moisturiser

I don’t have a particular sunscreen that I can confidently recommend. All of the ones I tried are okay but not extraordinary.

I think you guys use too much shit that is unnecessary. I use some pretty basic shit and have pretty smooth skin.
    >Use a cleanser in the shower (cold water of course)
    >Use some basic fragrance free alcohol free toner after I get out and dry my face.
    >Use some generic lotion with Hyaluronic acid
    >Put on a cheap dollar store face mask once a week for about 15 min while shitposting
Not trying to shit on you guys, but I think you are overthinking things.
