Very cool. Collar is a bit lose and the skull tie, tie pin, and big belt buckle risk pushing this over the line into cosplay/LARP territory. Maybe tone those down just a little. I still haven’t quite worked out whether you’re an actual chick or not. If you are, you get a bit more leeway with this. Other than that, love it.

Nice jacket. The dark blue sweater is not doing any favors though. Also nice plants.

Navy works well with brown, even moreso if there’s a blue overcheck mixed in. Light blue would’ve worked better in that context (or Navy with lighter brown), but still.

If anything I’d have switched out the shirt for one made of lightly washed denim or chambray.

      high rise pants

I try and get at least half of my wardrobe from eBay. You can select high rise as an option there, the trousers I’m wearing today are high rise. High rises were very common in vintage brands as well, makes it easier to find

      https://i.imgur.com/uWgMZ18.png

      >The dark blue sweater is not doing any favors though

Are you the denim dress trouser poster? If so I want you to know I just ordered a pair of pleated denim dress trousers because of you and I’m having a pair of denim gurkha trousers custom made as well. You look great here, love the bright blue matching with the shirt, coat and square

      • Anonymous says:

        >Are you the denim dress trouser poster?

Yes Sir, that’d be me. Genuinely flattered by the fact that you took inspiration from that post.

Glad you managed to find them, you’re gonna love the versatility and comfort (I’m quite fit for my age, however I love undoing the gurkha belt a tad when I sit in the car without anyone noticing).

Make sure to post some pics when you get to wear them!

Also, if you like the style you might want to look into Bryceland’s Gurkha shorts, that’s what I wear in the summer! Picrel.

        • Anonymous says:

          >Glad you managed to find them

Believe me, it wasn’t easy and it nearly drove me insane, nothing I found really jumped out at me. But I’ve been wanting to get into having clothes custom made for a while how so I figured this was a perfect sign to start. I’m having Luxire make a custom pair from 14oz dark indigo selvedge and having them do gurkha pants with double pleats and a cuff. I figured these pants shouldn’t be skin tight, so I took the measurements off a vintage pair of Ralph Lauren trousers I have and slimmed then up two inches in the thigh, one inch in the knee and one at the leg opening, gave myself an inch higher rise too. Even if they screw the tailoring up a little I’ve got some wiggle room and can have some corrections made at my tailor so I’m not too worried. But after I put my order in I found these :

          https://www.craftsmanclothing.com/products/off-white-japanese-denim-gurkha-pants?option1=32%2F32&option2=Japanese+Denim&variant=32436347043886

Off white should be pretty useful as well in warmer weather so I’m going to grab a pair here and see how this compares with my custom pair.

I also really liked the idea of just regular denim "dress" trousers so I ordered a pair of each of these:

          https://berle.com/products/dress-denim-self-sizer-pleated-br-long-rise?_pos=4&_sid=a70b51b31&_ss=r

          https://www.paulfredrick.com/products/pmn355n

Got those in the medium blue

Each one will be hemmed and cuffed for me, and then I’ll have them tailored as needed locally.

So…..yeah I really was inspired by your post, it was like a light went off in my head. I prefer sport coats and odd trousers to suits, let’s me be more creative.

Also my cravat came in today, my girlfriend got it for me for Christmas, finally arrived.

          • Anonymous says:

Luxire is a great option for MTM, never tried them myself (I’m in Italy so local tailors are fairly skilled and not quite Savile Row-tier expensive, thus I just go bespoke whenever I need something ultra-niche) however the folks over at Styleforum speak very highly of them.

Just remember not to give them too much of a taper or else you risk a "balloon" effect, due to the extra fabric at the top that becomes noticeable while walking when the pleats open up.

Craftsmanclothing is also a quality brand with a lot of cool stuff.

            > I prefer sport coats and odd trousers to suits, let’s me be more creative.

For some reason, wearing denim also makes the sport coat less intimidating; I would get the classic "are you going to a wedding, anon?" a lot even with "spezzato" (SC + odd trousers) from the athleisure crowd, whereas with jeans or denim trousers they seem to be way more accepting of being around someone wearing a *gasp* blazer.

As for the cravat (pretty cool one, btw), I got into alternatives to ties myself lately and I’m in love with Drake’s silk/wool scarves.

Marinella, Granqvist, HN White London, Exquisite Trimmings and Adamley are all great options as well but Drake’s designs strike the perfect balance between colorfulness and classicality, without becoming garish, imho.

          • Anonymous says:

Now that’s very interesting, I figured you were living somewhere in Europe but your comment on people being intimidated by blazers intrigues me.

I live in America, in a city that’s more famous for its crime than anything else. And you’re absolutely correct, people are flat out intimidated by sport coats. We’ve devolved to such an extreme that previous "casual" clothing options are seen are formal and "uncomfortable to wear." Which never made any sense to me, if your clothes fit properly all fabrics and styles can be very comfortable. I’ve been looking for a way to keep my personal style without people around me feeling uncomfortable and underdressed, that’s why I jumped on the denim trousers idea, so again, thank you.

What surprises me though is the fact you’re experiencing the same thing. I romanticized Italy as this bastion of style where people were still passionare about how they dressed. You mean to tell me they are intimidated by sport coats too?
This is like finding out Santa isn’t real.

The previous issue is why I’m getting into cravats as well, let’s me inject some bold colors and patterns while appearing less formal that regular ties. I’m going to start messing around with knit ties for the same reason.

Thank you for the brand recommendations, I’m going to check them out! I have a feeling your budget for clothes is a lot higher than mine, I try and put as much together as possible from eBay and thrifting, going to start using Yoox now as well. I found a vintage Ralph Lauren cravat from the early 80s, golden yellow and navy. Today’s packages just came in, highlights are a pair of gold Canali wool trousers, two pair of vintage Florsheim Imperials and a few sport coats. It’ll be a few days till I post anything else due to work rotation but I look forward to what I’ll be able to put together next week.

Italy is a lot like the US under a plethora of aspects, minus the racial tension. It’s been like that since the late 80’s and the advent of the internet and social media further accelerated the process.

People are a little more fashion conscious compared to the US but everything is super casual nonetheless; you’d be hard pressed to stumble upon someone who doesn’t wear sneakers and basic jeans 24/7 and a button down shirt is perceived as formal/business attire.

As a general rule of thumb, women tend to dress up more often than men and it is totally acceptable to be in full athleisure while going on a night out with a girl wearing an elegant dress and heels. Go figure.

Sport coats/suits/ties are commonly associated with bankers, lawyers, doctors and affluent people because they’re the only ones sporting them on daily basis.

          • Anonymous says:

Also, Yoox is great for brands like Lardini, Tagliatore, Altea, Drumohr, Gran Sasso and Doppiaa. Great discounts, fast shipping and hassle-free returns. A good third of my wardrobe actually comes from there.

          • Anonymous says:

Basically it’s a hidden elasticized waistband because the target audience of Berle appears to be middle aged men.

The flip side is it’s a smart move from Berle since they don’t vanity size. So when a guy who’s used to buying a 38 even though he’s really a 40 buys their 38, it will still fit.

        • Anonymous says:

          >Bryceland’s Gurkha shorts

I’m far too self conscious to wear shorts but I’m going to look into having linen gurkha’s made instead. Maybe seersucker as well, but a solid color not the usual stripe.

Its a hobby but I do sell some of my art. Its completely different to this stuff. (watercolour landscapes and portraits mostly.)

twice to my fav BBQ restaurant bc wearing a very flammable white 100% cotton shirt to an open fire grill that spits flames and oil is considered a flex (that I didn’t invent). it’s meant to scream

Are you the denim dress trouser poster? If so I want you to know I just ordered a pair of pleated denim dress trousers because of you and I’m having a pair of denim gurkha trousers custom made as well. You look great here, love the bright blue matching with the shirt, coat and square

If you’re willing to listen to some advice from someone who dresses like I do, I’ll be happy to offer it.

Ok. From my perspective you’re dressing like a peacock, like you want attention. Which is fine, but literally nothing about your outfit works.

Your pants are too close in color to your jacket but not close enough to match well. The pants are too short and too tight. Your socks are either too short or too long. If you see sock, you shouldn’t see leg skin. The other way to do this is no socks whatsoever. Also the socks are the wrong color. Your shoes are bland and dingy. Your jacket is ok ish fit wise in the torso, a little baggy in the arms. But the graphics don’t match. The style of the flowers clash with the masonic satanic iguana pentagram.

To be blunt nothing in your outfit works on it’s own and it doesn’t work with anything else either. You’re going to get attention, but only the negative kind. You look like an autist who decided he could be cool if he dresses cool and edgy and this is your idea of a bad ass outfit like a protagonist in whatever anime you’re watching.

Would you be willing to wear some items that would fit better, match better color wise but be way less flashy and nerdy? I will help you pick them out if you want, no matter what the budget. If you don’t want to discuss it here, email me at

How about you never post your face OR you fit again you delusional drug guzzling delusional hispanic weirdo? At first your rants didn’t bother me, I figured it was just someone neurodivergent or some shit who was really passionate about fashion.

Then I saw what you actually posted. Even with the processing your lack of taste is thrust into my view like the hobo I saw jerking off in front of my building earlier. The difference of course being that is the hobo is less mentally ill and had a better fit. But the cherry on the shit sundae is your face. Hispanic dudes are manlets but they churn out chads left and right, they conquered as much of the world as whites and raped everyone. And your face is the product of hundreds of years of conquest? Man you look straight up soft, and not in a cool way like the Twink in the tie earlier. He looks like a power bottom with a tight bussy. You look like dough rising on the counter.

The hecking audacity and arrogance is astonishing. People here are trying to their hardest (for no sensible) reason to impress anonymous racist homosexuals and you just waltz in acting superior to everyone looking like *that*. Bless your heart.

I absolutely love the concept, with a few tweaks this is something I’d wear. My only complain is that the trousers look too neat/dressy, I’d go for something more workmanlike. I think moleskin would be perfect here, or a wide wale corduroy. Even calvary twill would work better.
Overall though, great fit. The Italian poster inspired me to try denim trousers, you’ve inspired me to try to LARP as a 19th century whaler. I’ve got moleskin pants, boots, a fisherman sweater and thick collared shirt, I need to find a double-breasted topcoat/greatcoat. Hopefully I’ll have something in less than two weeks.

      • Anonymous says:

The trousers are actually really cheap costume pants — I didn’t have much luck finding good-quality high-waisted 19th century wool trousers so I’m stuck with these for the time being. Any suggestions for where I should be looking?

Second, here’s where I get moleskin pants from:

            https://www.peterchristianoutfitters.com/pine-moleskin-pants/

This is the pair and color that I have, the waist is moderately high, I think it’s a shade over 12 inches on me. I think if you were to replace the costume trousers with pants like this your fit would be legitimately functional while also being aesthetic as heck. If you’ve never worn moleskin before it’s a genuine game changer in cold weather. Instead of a parka, I can handle snow wearing a good cashmere sport coat, a sweater and some moleskin pants and look good while doing so.

Thanks, these look great and aren’t exorbitantly expensive. Right now I’m wearing long johns under the pants to keep my legs warm, so hopefully the moleskin will negate the need for those.

Lounging around in the morning fit. Silk pajamas and a navy smoking jacket. I didn’t wear this jacket for months when my girlfriend first bought it for me but now I love it, it’s warm and I get to LARP as someone with taste and refinement when I drink my coffee and get ready for work. Also, get yourselves some good pajamas. I used to sleep nude for years, didn’t see the point but now that I have good ones I can’t go back.

Today’s fit. Found a bunch of vintage Hermes, Dior, Versace, Valentino and Brooks Brothers ties while thrifting. excited to start working them into my fits. Also got my vintage Florsheim Imperials longwings in, these are just regular leather, not cordovan. Trying to track down a pair in my size.

      Yoyo

right? Last fit was waaaaaayyyyy better, this one isn’t great.
Your jacket is so big and baggy that it looks like a kimono. The orange/rust brown shirt doesn’t match with anything in the rest of the fit. Tucking a sweater can work, not into jeans. Navy v neck doesn’t go with the rest of the outfit style wise, color only kind of sort of works. Might be the angle but your jeans look bootcut and flared. Lastly you could maybe pull this off with some minor tweaks and swagger but you’re posing like an effete fop and it looks worse.
I said the last fit looked great and like something I’d wear, this is a step down in literally all aspects.

    • Anonymous says:

You can make your fits look a lot better if you buy a thinner, higher quality belt with a rounded buckle. Brass would be nice.
