The thing that pops out in my mind is something like a Grand Seiko SBGA461, the stainless steel diver with the spring drive movement. I’m not entirely certain what you mean by “better,” but the movement is certainly better in the GS. The water resistance is less, but I doubt you’re using it for diving. The GS is has a thinner case. Other than that most other features between the two are very similar. Retail for the GS is about 6,100 USD.
ymmv, but i have a Planet Ocean and i’ve had some problems with it–one major common annoyance is the crown tube gets stripped easily and any watchmaker you send it to will want to charge you for a complete service. i do like the watch though–i have the 46mm version
i also have a Ti Tudor Pelagos, 40mm i believe, not the newer 39. i like this watch a lot.
for a little more money just get a Submariner. you won’t regret it
Why do people like divers? I get it if you actually do a lot of scuba diving, or even sailing or fishing or whatever, but for everyday wear? I think they are so ugly. The fat, oversized bezels, the offputting mix of triangles, rectangles and dots for indices, the squashed stubby hands, the usually clunky looking cases…
Nigga how the heck are going to say “a little more money to get a submariner?” The retail for a planet ocean is mid 6k and you can actually get it for that price. You aren’t going to get a submariner for less than double that amount. If you buy regularly from a boutique or something and the guy will actually hold one for you that’s a different story, but most people don’t have that luxury. I love subs dude but that suggestion makes no sense.
I want a basic everyday watch with a steel bracelet and a white or grey dial that matches with everything and that I can wear every day. Sapphire crystal decent water resistance and I want it to be somewhat small and vintage looking, preferably from a heritage brand, max price 500 dollars rec me 2 or 3 alternatives for the quartz prx 35mm.
Divelarp – various gaudy luxury shitters the size of a medium frisbee, 6k average, 12k if it’s memex. Spergouts and screeching over movements and rotor finishing.
North Sea saturation divers – Scurfa quartz for 250 quid
Probably some Speedy variation or a Tudor Black Bay?

I don’t like them either and I agree with all your points.

Santos dumont absolutely shits on this generic box store shitter that looks indistinguishable from a watch a child can buy at Walmart for $15.
