    The Gerald Ford huh?
It only takes 6 Chinese hypersonics to sink this AND another carrier beside it. Conventional cruise missiles can take out the destroyers accompanying it as well.

The reality is no they probably can't, the air defense network of a carrier group is insane and we've seen the PAC-3 have significant success against the kinzhal in Ukraine

Yes a single patriot battery shot down multiple kinzhals. A carrier group has like dozens and also has a dozen CIWs systems and supporting radars covering eachouther.

              Anonymous

Carrier groups make zero attempt at subtlety in the areas that they operate. The escort group is pinging full active sonar searching for anything that isn't supposed to be there, not to mention the sheer amount of noise those ships are making makes it extremely difficult for a torpedo to zero in on a single ship. The second a torpedo launches, they dump decoys into the water and stream the nixie decoys which lessens the chance of a successful hit even more. On top of that, the attacking vessel will immediately be fired upon by several torpedoes from the escort group, and will have various ASW air units deployed to track it down and destroy it.

I'm just saying: the Russians should've invested a billion dollars worth of Ivanbux in producing licensed Shaheds with Chinese components.
The second Ukraine starts their counterattack and are really focused on it, randomly swarm Kiev and Lvov with loitering munitions for days to really fuck up Ukraine's morale, air defense, and supply lines.

I suppose that depends on how much is left after getting shot down, if the warhead is the only piece together thats really identifiable then it makes sense to pose with it
I dont think its very dangerous, our chemical engineering has gotten very good at making stable explosives so it probably wouldnt be set off by some guy manhandling it, especially if getting hit by a SAM didnt

You got mad that he showed diagrams of the iskander, even though the kinzhal is just an air-launched iskander with a bigger booster. The BETAB-500 is an air dropped bomb and not a warhead, however the kinzhal has a 700kg kinetic penetrator of similar design. They're both designed to penetrate concrete.

also for relevance, the translation that tells you where the center of gravity of the warhead is

Yes, because its not the right design, its the nuclear one, which is what ive said from the beggining. Its the whole reason the super imposition was neccesary for the conventional warhead
theyre also clearly not the same, you can see ribbing on two sections of the kinzhal which isnt present on the betab. Its also there on the other one in stavropol

The russians do not have plenty of any modern equipment, they only have plenty of cold war era trash

The difference is they've been upgraded, the russians have a single cruise missile sub in service. 1 ballistic missile sub and 4 conventional attack subs. They also aren't able to produce the modern munitions like the zircon in large quantities.

The cold war era equipment the russians use that has actually been upgraded is pretty good, the problem is they don't have it in large quantities. Look at the T-90M for example, it's a good tank but there's only a few hundred of them and there's maybe 1000 of the un-upgraded T-90s. The rest of the russian tank fleet is old shit, while the americans provide upgrade packages for everything they have.

          >will do its job to deny you of using your carriers in the battlefield.
If the carriers make it to your shores then how is that a victory? Shouldn’t your missiles sink the carrier when they’re on the way and not when they’re on your shore unleashing hundreds of fighter jets on your navy? I bring this up because it’s the only way China could win in a confrontation is to sink our ships before we make it the SCS and intervene and they can establish multiple beach heads and defensive positions on the island chains

Unironically the air launched Iskander (Kinzhal) probably has more of a surprise factor than the Chinese glide vehicles. The Kinzhal has a relatively flat trajectory, while the glide vehicle has a very obvious launch and boost phase. Mig-31s can be in the air at anytime, and can mean many things, but whenever you launch a ground based ballistic missile it can only mean one thing.

          >air launched cruise missile
          >against a carrier ship
That’s so retarded just based on targeting and range alone, it’s one thing to hit a stationary target 200 miles away but hitting one probably further that’s constantly moving and shooting down your satellite uplinks is borderline science fiction

Targeting takes much longer than that, hypersonics are not instant carrier killers
You have to track them either using drones/aircraft which can be shot down with the carriers own aircraft or by using a satellite which takes time to analyze and process given the absurd size of the ocean and the fact the carrier is moving, like I said it’s not a static object you can monitor for days without interference it’s a much much harder target to hit which you need to repeat probably 20 times by military estimates to sink it at which time it’s already on your shore conducting operations and counter attacking

you are wrong about that. The Submarine "defense" consists of other ships in the carrier fleet blocking the trajectory of torpedoes by positioning themselves between the carrier and the sub.. But they have to find the sub first

One or two ships of that fleet are designated subhunters but one does not simply detect a sub and by the time they do the torpedoes are already on their way.

Since American carriers are the only carriers capable of carrying, and utilizing a complete strike package, yes, they absolutely have and onboard ASW capability. The MH-60R Seahawk helicopter is the current carrier based ASW platform, this replaced the S-3 Viking in 2009.

      Hupersonics are over hyped.

They launch on a ballistic trajectory, which is immediately detected by satellites solely dedicated to looking for ballistic missiles. Within seconds the trajectory is plotted and the US knows the destination.

The only difference a "hypersonic" has over a traditional ballistic missile is that it can slow and maneuver at the end of its ballistic course. But at that point it's no different than any other anti-ship missile.

The Chinks developed these as a cope. They know they can't hit a moving ship with their anti ship ballistic missiles and they know they can't get their anti ship cruise missiles within range.

              Anonymous

first of all, nobody would nuke Berlin with tactical nukes in Russia because of political consequences and it not being a military target
it would be done only in an all out nuclear war with NATO
second, Putin took Crimea, prepared his forces to fight NATO (including with tactical nukes - all those Kinzhals, Iskanders, Zircons, cruise missiles, etc. can carry a "small" nuclear warhead), launched this operation in Ukraine, again, fully prepared Russia to fight NATO if NATO would get directly involved
now Putin moved tactical nukes to Belarus and will finish their storage facility by July 1 (Russia only had 1 location with tactical nukes prior to this inside Russia)
made Russia pause the deal that limited the amount of deployed nukes
just because Putin has incredible patience and making decision with cold head doesn't mean that he doesn't have the balls or won't ever use a tactical nuke

It's simply common sense. A conventional missile follows a predictable trajectory, and intercepting that is hard enough, but a hypersonic? No chance. But if it makes you happy, you don't need the nuclear warhead to render the carrier useless.

Current production hypersonic missiles have shown none of the maneuverability you retards keep talking about. It doesn't matter how shitty the missiles are. A long kill chain is needed to guide the missiles close to the target. The satellites will be taken out before they can do anything, and don't forget about the jamming and electronic warfare. SAMs will clean up if they somehow get a surprise or short range shot in. Zero carriers will be sunk.

You're still failing to understand, most of the russian equipment stockpiles etc were bought in previous years, they aren't included in the current budget but they're still getting lost in the war. This is the same as the equipment being sent to ukraine, it's not included in the budget but we would still measure it for this comparison. The amount russia has spent in equipment, munitions etc is much higher than their yearly budget.

                >the fact that they're in a stalemate with Ukraine is embarrassing for them
                there's nothing embarrassing
US and co. prepared Ukraine for 7 years, switched it to 200k professional army, turned urban area in and near Bakhmut to a huge fortified fortress
Ukraine locked the borders for males since day 1, conducted over a dozen mobilization waves, literally grabs people from the street to feel the holes at the front
inherited lots of shit from the USSR: from tanks, armored vehicles, tactical missiles, planes, artillery, rocket artillery and shells and ammo enough for multiple wars; to all kinds of mobile medium and long range anti-air, second only to Russia's and China's, connected to US/NATO that tells them exactly when to turn them on (5000 of just S-300 missiles alone)
all of the elites were hired to fight Russia until the last Ukrainian, have their families safely in the West and a big area to get away if needed
all while Ukraine is twice the size of Germany and has big NATO borders
on top of that, the main strategy they are employing since day 1 is to move the army into big cities such as Kiev and Kharkov and use people as live shield, people who in 2014 every third had a relative in Russia
Russia successfully destroyed all of Ukrainian arsenal, then the Warsaw Pact arsenal, then is dealing with arsenal from more than 30 NATO countries
                and much more
Russia hasn't touched Ukrainian infrastructure for 8 months since the start
even the government buildings in Kiev are still standing
wow, so embarrassing that Russia didn't turn Kiev into ash and have huge civilian casualties with which it wants to work with after the conflict

Russia hasn't defeated the standing army and entered the insurgency phase yet. For the record the Iraqi army in both desert storm and Iraq 2 was heavily armed by the russians too.

            >NATO sent already more than 3 times the annual Russian military expenditure for their military. This is the publicly announced aid only.
3 times the Russian yearly budget is a third of the US annual budget and like 1/20th of the entire NATO yearly budget m8. It's nothing.

This is a common misconception. NATO militaries aren't sending part of their military budget to Ukraine, they are sending items in storage that have a monetary value placed on them for bookkeeping purposes. The USA isn't using Humvees anymore, so they have tons of these things in storage that can be earmarked as "military aid." Same thing with the M113's and all the antiquated British armored vehicles. The vast majority of the "military budget" that is being sent to Ukraine is shit that is sitting around in storage. This military aid has had 0 impact on the US militaries operational capabilities.

Nato members send their old trash to Ukraine and use the "Financial aid" to buy new stuff for themselves.
The Financial aid is a loan in name of Ukraine and the surviving Ukrainians will have to repay it for the next hundred years.

I think you're all conflating the ability of a missile to (potentially) penetrate the engagement envelope and armor of an aircraft carrier with actually being able to sink that carrier.

A CVN can survive losing a reactor plant. It can survive a hit to a JP5 tank. It can survive a hit to the hangar bay. It can survive the loss of the island. Any one of these would cause high casualties and result in a mission kill, but it wouldn't sink the carrier. Out of a coordinated strike of dozens of missiles, one might slip through. Doesn't matter how fast they are. One missile will not sink a carrier.

And how does the government pay those sailors blockading those ports ? Why do you believe there wouldn't be a mutiny, even by that vessel's commander ? And finally, how long until all those nations come together, and actually try to muster a defense, and sally against us ? How many vessels would defect to foreign nations ? What will the US navy, and air force's response be when The People take up arms against the government, who can no longer pay them, yet is still trying to direct their actions through orders, bearing no weight of authority, or consequence ? A monetary collapse within the USA, is probably the nation's largest threat, to actual national security.
