I know, I just used a random court-sneaker picture I had, this one from Puma. I already did this thread some months ago, but I got only very few replies, some didn’t contribute anything but giving me a "friendly" advise to leave the forum and the only one who proposed a court sneaker was the stan smith, so I bought the stan smith in black for about 70€ and noticed the bad quality materialwise of it, it was even a very bad leather quality for a sneaker and I knew this sneaker would look very bad very soon and would feel uncomfortable on my feet. Given the bad quality 70€ aren’t worth it, so I sent them back, but honestly I wouldn’t want to wear them if they were for free either. The look is okay, allthough the very short toe-box make them appear somewhat like monkey-boots.
I had years ago a court sneaker from Onitsuka Tiger, model-name: lawnship, which was great with regard to price, leather, construction and design, but they got stolen (the only time in my life I went to McDonalds).
I would buy the Onitsuka Tiger – Lawnship again if it was sold, but unfortunately they sell only some updated version named lawnship 2.0 and lawnship 3.0 which I both abhore with regard to the design, the 3.0 being even worse, it feels so light and cheap and some commentators mentioned how it disintegrated only after a month of wearing.

It all depends on how much you value cost vs quality. There are plenty of simple black leather sneakers that look similar, ranging from the cheap and shitty quality like the New Republic Kurt, to more expensive alternatives such as Koio Capri, Greats Royale, CP achilles, etc.
If you want really cheap, just look up any CP alternative post on google. While most people recommend these in white, they all have black models as well
I want to buy a simple court sneaker like an average person would do, just decent quality for a non-hyped price.
I wouldn’t want to wear a court-sneaker with a very cheap material for a price not representative its value like the stan smith, because this would make me feel like a fool who is easily manipulated by a brand.
I also don’t want to wear a court-sneaker with a ridiculously high-quality of leather like horween shell cordovan, bc this would make me feel like a weird person as well, I wouldn’t want to wear such a sneaker even for free.
All I want is a normal court-sneaker, not a shitty stan smith leather quality but also nothing fancy, just like the old onitsuka tiger – lawnship. (if anybody is familiar with it)
You will not find sneakers like that.
Smiths made in the last 2 years or so won’t even be made from leather anymore, not that that’s necessarily a bad thing in that price range considering the alternatives.
If you want decent leather, decent – not good – but not bottom of the barrel end bonded/PU, you are looking at a minimum of ~150$ nowadays.
Prices have only been going up in general and especially for sneakers, 70$ for Stan Smiths is honestly not bad at all and something most people would consider really good quality for the price.
Considering you think those are shit quality you will not be happy with ANYTHING any of the big brands make and should look at the usual suspects for budget handmade Italian sneakers ala Artisan Labs and Svenssons.
Also for the love of Christ, don’t get hecking all black sneakers.

no, and right now there is a sale on onitsuka tiger, selling court sneakers for 50€ with a full-grain leather upper, but I don’t like the design. Nobody will gaslighten me into believing that plastic is worth 70€ and the average person isn’t as stupid either.

the average person buys the cheapest supermarket sneakers they can find and if they really want to treat themselves and think they are being super fashionable walks into the nearest adidas/nike store and gets sold on whatever they currently carry in surplus by the sales assistant there

Thanks for the suggestions, I give you my feedback to the models:
They all seem to have the same basic design, which I don’t like, especially the high wrapping and rectangular form of the outsole, they look too boxy and too little modeled after the shape of the feet, I also don’t like the leather patch on the Greats Royale on their tongue and the golden serial number on the CP Achilles.
Apart from the design, I hate the fact that these sneakers lack a history, they are new models from new brands, at least the shitty stan smith have decades of history even though the recent stan smiths can’t compete qualitywise with older stan smiths.

Are you talking about the strengthened rectangular area at the front of the shoe?
Because those are Margom soles and big sign of quality, they will last quite literally ten times as long as any of Adidas’ rubber soles.

That’s not making any sense at all, they are literally shaped after the foot itself with very little excess room.
The very goal of these sneakers is to be as minimal as somehow possible.
Onitsuka Tiger (Asics) isn’t good quality leather anon.
Their "full grain leather" are extraordinarily thin and cheap pieces that get scuffed up instantly and are very prone to ripping.
Personally I’d much rather take whatever dumb ass plastic shit Adidas is using for Smiths right now, at least there I won’t have to worry about the upper giving in long before the sole is walked through.

They aren’t though. You can cope about your bad purchasing decision, but those brands built a reputation for a reason. They aren’t overpriced designer plastic. They’re just not the cheapest leather on the market that big athletic shoe companies and no-name Chinese brands sell you. You can instantly tell the difference.

Stan Smiths are either Parley Plastic or vegan "leather" nowadays
The vegan ones are actually pretty good. Hard to tell how they will age long term since they’ve only been out a year or two but from everything I’ve seen they actually look better than the cheaper almost glossy looking leather they’ve been using the past 10 years.
