Don’t buy anything but Wrangler 0936pwd. Everything else is a scam the only exception are those fancy Japanese kind but I don’t know much about Japanese denim.

    • Anonymous says:

Those Japanese denim places seem to have just made everyone think
      >Selvedge = better
When they don’t even know what it means

      • Anonymous says:

There’s lots of marketing fluff but selvedge is just the proper way to make jeans. There can be shitty selvedge jeans but it’s hard for them to be shittier than any other. Japan is memed because they have almost all the looms that can make it. The individual brands and sometimes exorbitant prices are open to debate, but for now they are small brands with fickle fan bases that keep them operating at a high level. Selvedge denim is one of the few fashion “memes” that has a leg to stand on.

      • Anonymous says:

anyone buying japanese denim knows what a shuttle loom is.
but you are correct about fashion brands and how they market it. its a consequence of japanese denim becoming popular then watered down for the masses.

What do you mean where? Get out of your house and shop in your local stores and malls. Look at a few brands and buy what you like the best.

          • Anonymous says:

Maybe. I’m not American. If their products are good and they fit your criteria, then sure. Apparently, these brands in picrel also manufacture their jeans in America. Maybe check them out. Just make sure they are 100% cotton. No stretchy or filler plastic BS.

          • Anonymous says:

god american brands are so cringey with the twiddly moustache hipster marketing. shame too because they make nice looking jeans made out of japanese denim cheaper than the japs do.

            >Caring so much about the marketing of an otherwise nondescript item that you refuse to buy it
            NPC behavior

            Any recs for Japanese vendors?

Sugar Cane and TCB are the easiest to recommend. If you shop around you can find them from Japanese stocklists for <$200 and they’re basically autistic recreations (I’m talking down to using cotton stitching over polyester) of mid century Levis

Serious answer since you seem like a good lad from /tv/: it entirely depends on what style, fit, type, color, and wash you’re looking for. you should really figure all that out first because your question is extremely general but requires a specific answer and people aren’t gonna know how to give a serious answer and will just give meme responses.
general rule of thumb is to pay attention to the material breakdown and country of manufacture on the tag at the absolute basic level. Mandatorily 100% will be your best bet and ideally made in USA, Japan, or Italy or at least avoid countries with lax labor laws like China, India, Vietnam, Cambodia, etc.
Again at the absolute basic level you could try things on at local retailers or buy second hand vintage Levi’s 501s (or 505s if you prefer zip fly) and work from there to figure out what it is you like and don’t like. Most important thing of all is to learn your measurements (waist, inseam, rise, hem, etc.) which you could probably do just by measuring the ones you have already that fit you well. It’s really too general of a question for you to get a real answer until you learn what you want or give us more specific information

yes lighter is harder to style, but not impossible. i find it best to wear darker tops and white shoes with light jeans

            This is completely tasteless

            great explanation gay

Feel like I’d try their shit if they had actual stores but it’s hard to tell which one is worth it without seeing in person

does anyone remember that time urban outfitters briefly carried unbranded and some n&f? and how when they decided to get rid of their inventory for 50% off reddit found a way to discount code stack them down to $4-8 a pair and people were buying out entire stores inventories?

          • Anonymous says:

Go on Amazon and get a pair of Levi’s 501, make sure the length results in "no break". Looks good on almost every guy if you size correctly.

            501s quality tanked

          • Anonymous says:

still some of the best value for cost on the market, especially with how often they’re on sale

          • Anonymous says:

rustler is an even better value/budget line from wrangler. you basically get cowboy cuts but without the copper rivets, without the coin pocket, and without the 2 extra belt loops, and right hand twill instead broken twill denim in the same 15.25oz…. for 12 dollars…

          • Anonymous says:

You can buy 3-5 pairs of Levi’s 501 for the price of 1 entry level "high" quality pair of jeans… no brainer. Anything over $100/pair is a scam.

still some of the best value for cost on the market, especially with how often they’re on sale

            >You can buy low quality for a name premium
            That’s not a good deal

          • Anonymous says:

When was the last time you wore a pair of Levi’s? "Quality" in terms of things only /fashion/ will recognize does not translate to much. For the price and what the expectation is, they’re a bargain. Value for cost ratio is through the roof. I’ve found pairs on Amazon for $30 shipped that I’ve worn well over 3 years.

          • Anonymous says:

            >I’ve found pairs on Amazon for $30 shipped
Yeah that’s around their value with that quality.
            >I’ve worn well over 3 years
So you’ve worn Jeans? No shit so does Walmart brand jeans

          • Anonymous says:

levi’s are almost $100. i can buy a pair of insanely high end jeans from tcb or japan blue for the price of two pairs of levi’s. my japan blues have gotten me b***hes quite a few times. levi’s are what you wear if you want to blend in like a npc.

          • Anonymous says:

            >still some of the best value for cost on the market
            HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA no.
            far from it.
these are 12 dollars and made with us cotton, assembled in mexico. raw, 1 wash, or pre washed in indigo or black.
and they are made of a 3oz thicker denim than levi’s uses.

            >especially with how often they’re on sale
they are only a good deal during the 80% sale they do every 1-2 years.

you can’t go wrong with the core jeans they sell every season like left hand twill. the elephant line is always good too, i’ve consistently gotten good fades out them and had them break down to feeling like sweatpants.
this season the left hand twill sky blue, broken twill slub stretch, and hemp interest me the most. almost all hemp jeans are either blended or have shit texture the n&f ones felt really nice when i looked at them.

      >I buy the easy guy size bc im thicc as heck from squatting
Why does everyone say this? You’re just chubby, or you have thick thighs. You aren’t doing enough squats to change your leg size.

      • Anonymous says:

Naked & Famous makes good jeans. I buy the easy guy size bc im thicc as heck from squatting

Should I wear Weird guy? I’m skinny but want somewhat baggy

        • Anonymous says:

True guy will be a little baggy throughout (if you’re pretty skinny) and will be straight from knee to ankle. Weird guy is tapered, so it will be less baggy. Strong guy will be very relaxed and baggy throughout with a straight leg.

Not that cheap but my favorite jeans currently are from Abercrombie & Fitch. They fit great, are very durable, and look good.

Sorry, I tried replying but LULZ said my post was spam and I don’t know why, so here is just an unhelpful picture.

  7. Anonymous says:

    >I’m talking down to using cotton stitching over polyester
fair warning if you ever buy jeans like this, cotton stitching is not durable at all especially the heavier of denim you go. stitches will pop, back pockets will fall off your jeans, things you’ll be surprised by if you’ve never owned a pair before. don’t believe me? go on sufu or reddit and type the strike gold then look how often pockets fall off within a year lol.
some weirdos like me love it but the average normie definitely doesn’t want cotton thread jeans. iron heart strikes the best balance imo with their nylon core cotton thread they use.

  8. Anonymous says:

Going to Japan next month, should I pick up some iron hearts? Had N&F and unbranded in years past, so was thinking 18oz max. 20+ oz fabric is a meme.

    • Anonymous says:

Don’t discount the 21s till you’ve tried them. They’re crazy soft and mold to your body almost immediately. I don’t know how they compare to the 18s, but they’re more breathable than IH’s 14oz fabric because the weave is looser

      • Anonymous says:

I tried unbranded’s 22oz and it was interesting until they destroyed themselves (holes) from being too thick/stiff. I want something that will last more than a couple years.

        • Anonymous says:

          >until they destroyed themselves (holes)
learn some sashiko repair anon. or darning if you have a sewing machine. both are super easy. i used to throw away my raws when they got blow outs and now i really regret it. basically anything other than giant crotch blowouts or splitting the ass area in half is repairable. after 1 or 2 repairs they kind of look shite but once they’re covered in them they start to look amazing.

    • Anonymous says:

ih is overpriced outside of japan and normal priced there. so if you ever want to get a pair it’d be a good time while you’re there.

      >too thick
somewhere between 12-17oz is the most durable because the yarns aren’t huge and don’t abrade as easily. long staple + tight weave jeans last the longest. fit ultimately is the biggest deciding factor to how long your jeans last. my skinnies and slim cuts blow out in under a year every time but my 13.5oz baggy jeans survived a decade of construction work unscathed, only a few tiny blow-outs poking through the thigh/knee.
