i am on welfare aswell and a Toyota Camry is 1000 times more reliable than 2020 AMG. With a Camry you drive 100.000 miles tru the desert without any problem. Can you do this with a shitty AMG ?

Good tip to get you started. Buy Cali emissions vehicles. Subarus especially. Some have upwards of 3 catalytic converters. Ship em to NY and you'll get $750 a piece

buy a shitty car some retard thinks is scrap. (Boomers and methheads literally throw cars away for $600 the moment the engine light comes on) half ass fix it, sell it to some slightly smarter retard for a mark up. If it's too fucked, oh well, you just got yourself parts to sell. You can normally get about 5k selling everything off a junk car, then another $450 when the shell goes to the crusher

Subaru STi’s are done now too, gonna see those appreciate as they have more horsepower than the new wrx and the awd system is better. Camaro is done after this generation. The next gen mustang is the last of the V8 mustang. Dodge is discontinuing their V8 in favor of a turbo 6. Mediocre cars cars coming out now have full digital dashes that have planned obsolescence built in, won’t last more than 10 years with no replacements. The writing is on the wall, these are some of the best internal combustion cars and will be the last. As long as gas is available they’ll be collectors items. Shoulda know the market when I turned in my STi lease and got money back because the value was higher than the residual value.

how are those long term. my first car was an audi a4 and i bought it at 40k miles and sold off at 150k but had maintences/mechanical issues up the ass. i delivered food in it and drove in nyc for school so that probably did it in, but have a 1.8T jetta i leased then had to buy out because i rode so much in it and ive yet to have any major mechanical service to it yet

was 70k miles when i bought it btw

i can get 10k for my 140k mile 2016 jetta i bought for 12k in 2019 so you tell me

The STi has been basically the same drivetrain since 2004 that’s been adapted to 3 generations of the Impreza. It had its issues in the early years with filter screens starving the turbo of oil, but later years it’s rock solid. It’s a derivative of an engine that’s been around since the late 80’s so parts will always be available. Big difference is the STi has front and rear limited slip differentials, with an electronic center clutch that got better through the generations. The traction control in this car isn’t a nanny, it uses that electronic center differential to get around the most mundane right hand turns totally sideways and in control on slippery surfaces.

sounds like why i went from a4 to jetta, parents gifted me an 06 a4 when i graduated in 09 and beat the shit out of it and test drove a 2016 jetta and loved it because it was pretty much the same thing sans AWD and was my first car in a big boy pants job so i went with it so was wondering about it, i wanna get something a little nicer eventually from what i have now but i also kinda set on running this thing into the ground, so far its handling well after driving on like 2k+ road trips, saw th eeclipse with it goin from nj to tn and just moved from nj to nc with it and everything is far as fuck away. definitely a little rusty around the edges from when i started but still no major issues so was wondering. on long road trips the jetta 1.8t gets like 35-38mpg, not too shabby and rarely ever do local trips outside of living 10min from work

you wont own them long tho with all the crashes happening. people who took the tax are having strokes / stroking out while driving and coming into oncoming traffic . its all over the news lately, 4 people just died here where I'm at yesterday in a crash, head on, the driver was "impaired' by some medical condition as usual.

the only reason youd keep a car collectors is going to be sitting in your garage, driving it is basically a 100% chance to crash, even the best defensive driver cannot stop a stroke victim yanking into their lane at the last second right as they're passing. sorry but its true. covid has ruined cars. among other things...

The Rush song Red Barchetta was based on an article of a similar scenario, “A nice Morning Drive”. Car industry dictates cars that are crashproof, look at any new car commercial showing off features of cars that automatically avoid accidents. Then as the song and article portray SJW’s with accident proof cars go out and hunt old cars to take them off the road by getting them to crash into large heavy monstrosities. But they’ll be electric!

supply is still limited, but so is purchasing power because of interest rates. The result is that cheap cars will stay overpriced but deals might emerge on more expensive cars if you’re paying cash.

In my town I've seen an strange amount of cars for sale. All in good shape. All for $25K+. Have to imagine it's people trying to free up some liquidity to try and get through the winter and be able to buy presents for their family and stuff like that. But the thing is, the rich are just going to buy new cars. The working class can't afford $27k for a used pickup truck. I actually saw a used pickup truck in town for $27k. Can't remember the year & model. Thought it seemed a bit much.

I know a girl who bought a decrepit barely functioning shitbox for $800 about 5 years ago. If her car dies she's going to be up shit creek because she's basically destitute and lives paycheck to paycheck.

Why? It’s mostly a dead car company, the X’s weighed a lot more than the IX’s and the evo always beat the STi’s in their go cart like handling. Mid to late aughts was really the sweet spot on a car you can make last.

It's never going to cool down. Millions of illegals being imported by Biden. Illegals that want their own shitboxes until their gibs can cover paying for a Ram. In fact all the inflation right now is due to the border invasion.
On top of that the government is trying to push EVs and shut down ICE production. The point of this isn't to promote EVs. The point is to price most people out of owning a car at all. Thats why you see all the propaganda about "walkable cities" too. They want you to live in the pod, eating the bugs, unable to drive where you want and reliant on walking to get around. Paying for an Uber ride will eventually be considered a luxury experience, with car ownership reserved for the elites.
