no, very outdated look, you’re about 3 years late. Shein and Aliexpress probably don’t even have these pieces anymore.

      Yes it is OP

While I agree that Goth is timeless. I do think that the style in OP’s pic isn’t really true Goth but something derived from it. Something post-Tumblr and going over the emo and anime area even.

In an ideal world, people would look at the latest big fashion collections and implement trending fabrics and silhouettes to create an elevated version of whatever that is. But they don’t do that so it’s cringy. That’s just my opinion

I personally have to say no.

This is an off-shoot of the at the time niche "I am a girl online" ~2013 tumblr-esque thing. 2017 was peak intersection of this being somewhat mainstream, but still acceptably alternative and arguably fashionable. 2020 is when it began to lean into trend territory. It’s been so overdone at this point that as someone who used to willingly dress like this, I physically cringe whenever I see the style now.

So, you’re into this style and you’re unsure of what direction to take after hearing of some anon’s disapproval?

Here is new wave for those of us who are chronically online– and not in the TikTok way– on a female silhouette, maining around 2025, peaking 2028:

Monk-like. Texture rules above all. More one-pieces, dresses, jumpsuits, overalls, rompers. Rejection of graphics. Dainty hebrewelry. Always gold. The utility of techwear, the girliness of FL+L lingerie, and earth tones we’ll know as being antithetical to over-saturated thumbnails. Embroidery will be favored over prints. Floral, if necessary. Text will only be found on obscured areas, like the cuff of a sleeve or a shirt collar. Again, always embroidered. Front-and-center graphics on shirts will be reserved only for things explicitly commercial in nature, such as a university name, or an obvious logo.

Accessories will start to play a bigger role than makeup. Headbands especially. Look into Alexandre De Paris. Silver hebrewelry and hardware will be out the hecking window for women. Mark my words.

The internet is slowly going to feel like a smaller place again in the next several years. The rejection of non-humanistic aesthetics, especially for women and girls drawn to the internet, is going to be over the top.

sounds like people are developing some taste. i have mixed feelings on headbands when i see them pulled off i love it, i dont want it to end up like skinny jeans for the obese
