I don’t think it looks good, but he does genuinely wear high fashion while personally attempting to bridge the gap for men to wear things that are more feminine, as the opposite of women wearing men’s clothing has always been fine. I’m not saying I think men should want to wear the things he wears, but I am saying to attempt to normalize the extreme has a cascading effect where the extremely tame slowly becomes more normalized, which seems to be a trend in high fashion at the moment on their approach to making things more gender neutral.
Again, it doesn’t look good, but I appreciate the effort because male silhouettes are severely lacking when compared to women’s.
There are no thoughts behind what he dresses like. It’s just a marketing strategy.
He could bridge the gap by wearing incorporating feminine accessories into male outfits. He chooses for the extreme because he knows it generates publicity. Most non-metrosexual guy just think he’s a gay because he goes overboard.
I wasn’t saying what he’s doing isn’t cringe to be clear. It’s far overboard, but I think there is a place in the coming landscape that he fills where he’s completely willing to do something like this because now he’s the guy that wears women’s clothing and it’s extremely over the top, so any guys coming forward will be able to be pale in comparison no matter what they choose to wear whether it’s a dress or if it’s something more subtle. Since the beginning of capitalistic fashion designers have pushed to have their clothing worn on the upper class in order to normalize it for those below them, and I think in this case since it’s so heavily frowned upon for a man to wear anything feminine at all I can see the strategy in those who are pushing their pieces on him throwing it right in everyone’s face as a genuine strategy. I see a lot of guys following in his footsteps but with much more subtle and humble approaches, and honestly I see it as a good thing, at the very least something that doesn’t actually do any harm.
That said, his music is shit.

He’s playing with explicitly feminine shapes though. He’s obviously trying to be transgressive. Most of the more artistic runway shows are transgressive. While this may not be ‘serious clothes’, you’re being very dishonest by pretending the designer doesn’t want to push fashion in that direction.
runway clothing gets purchased by wealthy women who have parties to go to and don’t want to wear something someone else has worn.
it isn’t just theatre, they are selling wrapping paper (fabric) for presents (debutantes) for men (war whores)

this looks good because it’s considered retro and vintage but in its own time it wouldn’t have been seen as particularly fashionable. people wore that because everyone else did, now if you wear that youre going against the grain so people find it fashionable

Because it’s essentially "express yourself no matter what others think". Problem is this quickly exposes chronic lack of taste among most people.
