        My point was that you don't have to be good at math. You just have to be good at making a computer do math.
        ChatGPT with a Wolfram Alpha plugin is going to be fucking amazing.

          yeah but I just don't understand how to solve it

          4x+y=6
          doesn't make sense cause I can't make x into a number and get 6 out of 4. so even if I were to imply I have to multiply I can't fix 6 into 4

          • 1 week ago
            Anonymous

            You are supposed to solve for x or y first, retard. Using both equations to cancel one of them out.

                Look at my post here

                4x+y=6
                x-2y=6

                1. You multiply or divide one equation by the number that would make x or y equal to the other. I will do the first equation so:

                2(4x+y=6) so that in turns into

                8x+2y=12
                X-2y=6

                2. Now that y shares the same coefficient, you cancel them out by putting the two equations together. It turns into

                9x = 18.

                3. You solve for x which is 2.

                4. Solve for y using the x value you found which equals -2.

                Done

                This is actually so easy you can solve it in your head, but just follow this guide retard.

                https://www.wikihow.com/Solve-Systems-of-Algebraic-Equations-Containing-Two-Variables

                I solved using substitution.

                Multiply the first equation by 2
                8x+2y=12
                Add it to the second equation
                9x=18
                Now you know x=2
                Plug that into equation two
                (2)-2y=6
                Add 2y to both sides of the equation
                2=6+2y
                Subtract 6 from both sides of the equation
                2-6=2y
                -4=2y
                -2=y

                4x+y=6
                x-2y=6

                1. You multiply or divide one equation by the number that would make x or y equal to the other. I will do the first equation so:

                2(4x+y=6) so that in turns into

                8x+2y=12
                X-2y=6

                2. Now that y shares the same coefficient, you cancel them out by putting the two equations together. It turns into

                9x = 18.

                3. You solve for x which is 2.

                4. Solve for y using the x value you found which equals -2.

                Done

                These anons solved by elimination. Either way works, but people often avoid substitution so you don't have to fuck around with fractions.

                you can just do it the brute force way: combine terms, pluggin values.

                4x + y = 6
                x - 2y = 6
                --------------
                5x - y = 12

    ok let's see if i still remember linear algebra well...

    4x + y = 6
    x - 2y = 6
    so that means...
    > x - 2y = 6
    > x = 6 + 2y

    ok stash that, replace x on the other equation...
    > 4x + y = 6
    > 4(6 + 2y) + y = 6
    > 24 + 8y + y = 6
    > 24 + 9y = 6
    > 9y = 6 - 24 = -18
    > y = -18 / 9
    > y = -2

    ok we got y, now for x on the other equation
    > x - 2y = 6
    > x - 2 * (-2) = 6
    > x + 4 = 6
    > x = 6 - 4 = 2

    aye, that's the solution alright

      What the fuck is the answer to this

      I can teach you some really basic math before I fuck off from this thread, by the way;
      When you move a number/letter to the other side of the equal, you change it's sign.
      Letters can hold other letters and numbers, think of them as placeholders.
      If you multiply something which has a sign (+/-) that sign can change the sign of what you are multiplying (i.e. -2*4 = -8 (NOT 8)).
      Listen to L's theme from the hit anime "Death Note", it has been proven to increase your iq by 3 standard deviations, while also increasing your penis size by 4 inches.
