suit problems

I wear suits most of my days. color is not a problem but my style is deemed "much too old and cosplayish" how do I improve on it. the suit in the image is dated from the 1930s but I like it a lot and I don’t feel like it looks particularly dated. I may be wrong tho. what does /fashion/ think ?

Just carry the anime body pillow with you, it’ll significantly improve the look of the fit and signal what types of women you like.

god people on this board are so hecking mean

i think its all fine but a black suit is probably not the move here, a charcoal or navy would work better
ditch the weird doily you’re using as a pocket square and get a proper one

Yeah, you look like an autistic clown, wearing your great grandfather’s clothes. Nothing fits you, and it’s a style from a hundred years ago. Seriously, a pocket watch? Of course people think it looks like cosplay, because it is. You might as well through a fedora into the mix.

      Doug Tier shit

dont listen to these miserable crab-bucket cuntbags, 80% of /fashion/ is just nasty hecks who come here exclusively to drag others down so they can feel better about their pathetic joyless lives.
Don’t let anyone browbeat you for liking what you like, especially not here. In fact, keep vintage 3 piece suits precisely BECAUSE it makes the bugman b***hboys here seethe. Vintage suits are hecking based.
Go post on styleforum or some fashion discord instead. /fashion/ doesnt deserve any new posters.

I’ll treat this like a serious post even though it’s bait. Get rid of the weird lapel pin and pocket square. Please, remove the pocket watch or at least don’t wear the chain around the vest button. Remove the vest preferably, but optional. Wear a plain/striped tie and white/cream shirt. Get your suits tailored, your shirt cuffs should be visible and your shoulders and pants have too much fabric.

don’t get rid of the pocket square. suits look silly without.

however, the one in the OP does look like one of grandma’s spare doilies when set on the otherwise plain black suit.

If OP can’t answer this, there is no point in replying. Part of dressing well is dressing for the occasion. If the occasion doesn’t warrant a suit, prescribing another suit with be fruitless. Until we know why OP wears the suit, nobody can offer anything.

I agree that ops suit (bait thread) is overly formal and stuffy. But what I think is funnier is how insecure you guys are about men wearing suits. Like heck you have what.. 80-90 years on this planet if your lucky, wear whatever the heck you want and stop judging what other full grown men are wearing you gays.

This isn’t your reddit hug box. What’s the point of having a fashion imageboard/forum if you can’t even take the slightest criticism and will respond with the braindead ‘ just wear whatever you want ‘ ?

Because whats your advice? Don’t wear a suit? Your literally contributing nothing.

Your fit looks ridiculous because nothing is tailored so everything looks huge on you. Also
          >All black
Should be reserved for funerals or formal events, not everyday wear.

people generally dress for the occasion, and if someone dressed very off, like you, who are dressed in a way that’s inappropriate for any level of formality in 2024
    >how do I improve
in order of priority, from vital to optional
don’t wear a lapel pin, pocket square, waistcoat nor a tie
    don’t wear a black suit
don’t wear a shirt with a contrast collar
wear a suit made of (fine) worsted wool
wear a suit that’s cut to today’s standards, or at least within the last 25 years
don’t wear a suit if nobody else is
    >what do you think
the tie looks hideous and it doesn’t go well with black
the shirt stripes don’t go well with solid black
the suit looks good, if terribly dated and rough

Love the lapel pin and desire behind the pocket square. Really very graceful. I’d lean into the eccentric revival, but also try to find company and inspiration amongst the bl artists I’ve seen with similar interests. Immediately, I’d Find a green ornate floral tie to match and tailor everything very baggy and comfortable.
