in your opinion what are the top 3 to 5 brands in terms of quality
Matsuda
Anything Kering (Saint Laurent and so on, even if the lenses are not glass most of the time)
Maui Jim (but the style is outdated)
Serengeti (same)
Glass + polarized gives some of the best clarity in sunlight. Poly will affect the color of the tint. If you ever have the chance, compare the lens colors. Poly will look washed out. Also, poly is the lens equivalent to seed oils. Trash material melted and fused. Stick with plastic (1.5, 1.67, 1.73 index) or glass.

can you think of anyone who makes good folding sunglasses?
i know about:
ray ban (already own both colors)
maui jim (vnice not my style)
persol (haven’t tried but your post makes me hesitant)
i have to have sunglasses on me at basically all times for medical reasons and i got really spoiled by folders. they’re way harder to break and fit in a coat pocket.
I’ve had a pair of 714s since last July, and while i have been generally happy with them, though there are definitely some quality control problems. The main problem being the hinges at the bridge, as one locks into place perfectly, while the other flaps around. Also, the finish of them has felt quite rough. Nonetheless, i am still happy with them, as they look good and i only paid 1/3 RRP for them. Despite this, i will likely not get another pair after these, as i like the look of Matsudas
I’ve tried that, and while that has stopped the hinge from moving loosely, it still doesn’t lock into the straight position like the other hinge. this is because the acetate piece between the 2 hinges is too far to one side, which cannot be fixed. It’s not much of a problem for me, as i don’t use the bridge hinges often
Have two glasses, about 5 and 3 years old, newer pair has the exact same color and lens shape, I think only the bridge is different. Love them both, and also the flexible temples. For me it adds comfort.
I love the style, but the material isn’t that great tbh. I prefer my Oliver Peoples, which are also owned by Luxottica, but they seem to have far better quality than the Persol. I also own a SLP frame and like them a lot, but their design doesn’t fit my style that much, so I don’t wear them that often.
Luxottica owns so many brands that are mostly independent
One brand can be amazing and another dogshit and both are owned by Lux
Writing off a brand immediately just for being a Lux brand is stupidation
I’ve owned 2 pairs of Persol eyeglasses in the past and am currently waiting on 2 new pairs of eyeglasses. I think Persol is a great gateway to "luxury" eyewear, I personally love the style of them. I haven’t experienced durability issues. The only issue I’ve seen were the plastic started to fog on the previous pairs, but I think that’s because I poured boiling water when cleaning them (from making morning coffee) so don’t do that and you should be good.

I have the Steve McQueen ones and have had them over ten years. Still holding up really well. Admittedly I paid £300 for them which is ridiculous, but I can’t fault them.
What do people think of Tom Ford sunglasses? I really like the Dimitry ones.
got two, their website is cancer. crystal lenses are a step up from ray ban garbage.frame feels more sturdy. wouldn’t buy again because there’s something like Matsuda for not that much more. Persol’s good on sale – wouldn’t pay more than 150USD a pair
I have a pair of 964s. I like them as they are something a bit different to the Ray Bans everyone else wears. They definitely appear better quality that Ray Bans I’ve had in a similar price range.
They have some cool styles, but the materials they use are prone to cracking. Not the best QC.
I’ve hated the pairs of Perols i’ve owned.
I dislike the flexible part of the temples, it makes the glasses feel less secure than other brands.
t. owner of many luxury glasses

Based, what do you think about JMM
Good quality but heavy
Matsuda

Any experience with cazal?
no sorry
>Good quality but heavy
Agreed, I hate the "heavy = good quality" meme but I love the two Dealans I have
>pics or didn’t happen
Why the heck would you ever want glass lenses when polycarbonate is better in every way

Tighten your screws, put loctite on them to keep it tight.

lol meant to say that my newer pair is very similar to op

I have wanted a pair for years but the price has kept be away
Aren’t Persol just another Luxottica shitter brand?
Thinking that just because it’s luxottica means it’s shit, is stupid. They have good brands under their belt.

Anyone here own a pair of RSF shades?
Luxottica garbage
Dumbass
I’m too much of a chinlet for them.

Are they overpriced or nah?
