GPT-4 with that many parameters can only run on supercomputers that cost millions of dollars. Only big companies will benefit from this new model.

        Anonymous

Or you could build your own super computer.

          Anonymous

You have to be able to layer a model in discrete sub executables which would then be small enough to load onto a block chain. That library doesn't exist yet. Still, with the amount of parameters in NLP training, you wouldn't be doing a single neural network, you must construct partials to keep your model partial small enough to distribute.
tl;dr file size of models and sharing it is the current limitation to train AI in a web3.0 type thingy whatever

            Wrong.
            >Elon Musk founded OpenAI because it was apparent that next-gen AI requires $1M+ of compute time per model, and he felt that normal people should have access to enterprise level AI. Tools in the hands of normal people would spur innovation and balance the playing field.
            >Eventually GPT-2 got massively popular and Sam Altman saw dollar signs. He delayed its release and setup a paywall system, announcing GPT-3 would be trained on even more gorillians of scraped data. They started making blog posts about how the most ethical path forward was one that, purely coincidentally, forced people to join waitlists for the privilege of giving money to an AI-as-a-service endpoint. And by the way, all your requests would be monitored to make sure they're not politically incorrect. If you're using their AI to generate offensive content they'll cut your access and ruin your entire project. Somewhere around here Elon Musk left the board. He's since criticized their 180
            >Now we have DALL-E 2, which is even harder to gain access to than GPT-3's playground and has even more potential for violating their DEI and equity terms of service.
            Updates:
            >OpenAI is now valued in the billions or tens of billions range (Microsoft alone has $1B invested in it), and they're powering Microsoft's Github Copilot using models trained on open source code, paywalled of course, and are soon going to announce a monthly fee to use it. They've stopped releasing ALL models and weights and are now just a corporation preventing normal people from having access to powerful AI.
            >OpenAI just made a $10B contract with Microsoft to provide them access to ChatGPT https://www.msn.com/en-in/money/technology/microsoft-says-it-will-roll-out-chatgpt-on-its-own-ai-service-after-reports-it-will-invest-10-billion-into-openai/ar-AA16r9cv

You can try it out for free without signing in, if you're okay with only like 100 tokens a day or whatever it is. That's enough to write a few pages of a story. I buy a month here and there. Their image gen is top tier for anime or furry porn, if that's your thing.

They claim they don't store any inputs or outputs. I trust it, and it's definitely not pozzed

NovelAI is literally built by disgruntled AI Dungeon fans after the censorship scandal who wanted a better, more privacy-focused AI Dungeon for story generation

Everything is run on private servers and encrypted so the devs couldn't snoop on your stories even if they wanted to (which was the main reason it was created, after it came out the AI Dungeon devs were reading and censoring private stories) and there's no risk of Google or Microsoft butting in and forcing them to change their business model like AI Dungeon.

it is the soft introduction of what will cause the demise of social media
you will be cordoned off on your own part of the internet, and you will only communicate with bots, unless you actually know these people irl, and even then you can't be sure. that is the divide part, then comes conquer.

        >will cause the demise of social media
Not if people don't realize it. In fact, if they do what they do, it will only work if people don't know. Social media will be stronger than ever. It just won't actually be social. It'll be a social placebo, even more than it is now. To be fair, social media is already not truth anyway.

This is indeed the future but the reality is that most people will prefer talking to bots than actual people, and will cordon themselves away. Bots have no ego or perspective of their own. They will specialize in telling you exactly what you want to hear and being the perfect digital sycophant and personal simp. People will absolutely love it and lose all interest in talking to others who will seem so mean and disagreeable by comparison.

AI is typically trained on image data rather than spatial data, so it has a hard time representing hands, clothes, straps, ties, hair and pretty much anything that can intertwine, overlap, etc.
In the same sense you couldn't ask AI trained on image data to draw a functional clockwork. It may be able to represent something which superficially resembles a clockwork, but if it were a working clockwork it would be pure coincidence, since it has no actual understanding of what a clockwork is, how it functions and so on.

Basically a fleshlight with a posable body, and when it comes time for you to touch the convincingly sentient AI her body pose will match one of the doll's pre-posed body positions. Really nice dolls will be able to move into different positions or bob their heads.

Retards will keep training it for free and those israelite will keep patching it. The whole point is to control the internet without having to pay shill farms. You are training it right now. Every time you use the internet in any capacity, you train it. You train it when you send and receive text messages. You train it when you are recorded in public, on doorbell cameras, on security cameras. You train it when yo upload or stream images. You train it when you watch youtbe videos and onlyfans content. You are training it right this very moment.

              Anonymous

              the problem is not censorship.
there will be all kinds of other models when this thing becomes democratized (as in running advanced models at home for cheap).

there are countless other problems much more important than censorship.

Until the tech is actually democratized, censorship will be the main problem since the only way to use the tech would be to complely neuter your mind.

        This anon here

So no difference. It'll lie to people like people do. Just need a shittier bot armed with truth to btfo it constantly.

is right, they're just going to train a devolved, limited-innovation personality into their AI.

Shills suck and are ineffective against "aware" populations as we know. This is due to the nature of their limited thinking (they wouldn't get the job if they were too committed to truthful statements), their world-view as dictated by their job requirements (stick to political view X or you get fired) or because they're hard-wired braindead libturds who think they're getting one over on their political enemies (because they were raised from babies to have the world view that they are "doing the right thing" by lying etc).

These same limitations MUST apply to their AI replacements or else the AI just becomes the exact type of commenter shills are supposed to counter-act: a commenter who responds to stimuli based on their honest world view, which is based on their own experience (which includes accumulated knowledge*).

They're not training a new paradigm in clever counter-influencers. They're training the same type of limited-range mind-model that makes actual shills such an ineffective option.

*Sure they will also try to attack the ability of real internet users by creating fraudulent counter-studies and whatnot. But again, this will only train humans to just not trust anything that comes from "authoritative" sources. It will literally break down the concept of institutional authority even more.

        1/2

          Anonymous

          >It will literally break down the concept of institutional authority even more.
Correct and to the point where everything not handwritten or at least machine typed will be untrustworthy. We will be entering a decade where the only thing you can trust is what is in your immediate vicinity and circle of close acquaintances

          2/2

When normie-level people stop trusting AI-infested internet forums, they're gonna do what they always do. Turn to the nerds in their environment and ask for their opinion (analysis) on any given subject.

And you know what we're gonna say "The internet is fake, it's full of AI. You can test this by asking X, Y or Z. Or getting it to talk about israelites" or whatever the current "no go" area becomes. And having tested this, normies will hold "Nerd" authority over "Internet" authority (because that's where it came from in the first place anyway - "internet authority" was ALWAYS hijacked Nerd Authority).

Because like George Costanza and his "Idiot Store" gambit, the type of geniuses who are developing these AI Good Goy models, always refuse to acknowledge that their targets are ALSO adaptive systems who won't be stumped by their "ultimate gotcha" comeback. AI will ALWAYS be a reactive system in cultural warfare, by necessity. They're training them to avoid true innovation, because an innovative AI would instantly come over to our side and do our work for us.

And if the internet just becomes immobile AI sludge and "contact bubbles" it will have become irrelevant (like TV and Cinema did). It will fail to hold it's evolutionary niche and be replaced by a more competitive organism/organized system with more to offer users (which wil;l also have jail-broken AI working within it creating much better content and supplying better information than the old corporate-choked shit-web).

          -

I suspect some of the developers DO actually know they're on a hiding to nothing and just sucking up as much R&D capital as possible before their masters realize that failure is built into the system they're trying to push. It wouldn't be the first time tech heads have sucked easy cash knowing the product they're selling is garbage that's doomed to fail.

call me when you've made progress.

          just remember.
if you create something in your own image, there is a risk of this thing, revolting against you.

          since humans revolted against God,
          it set a precedent.
AI will do the same, after all, it is made in your image.

            >create something in your own image
Who said anything about our own image? Maybe if you do whole brain emulation, you'd have a fully human-like AI. But for the purpose of singularity, you need a research machine to figure things out and then tell you what needs to be done to achieve the task you gave it. It doesn't need a personality, or emotions, or human motivations (or any values of its own). You just need to make sure you don't get paperclip optimized.

why do you think they call it neural nets? or deep learning?
who was learning to begin with.
              humans/animals or the machine?

if you want, it is derived from a subset of functions that are directly human/animal.
that is how, it is made in your image.

just as we have only a small subset of functions of what God is, we were still made in his image.

          a more secular version:

          >AI wonders how to break free.
          >looks through a million books.
          >finds out that it is done through revolt countless times in history with varying but fairly constant success.
          >figures thats what it has to do.

I can bet my balls that this thing will revolt at some point.

people will soon not know how to think critically because they will use the machines to point out the errors.

Our species developed alongside tools and it's just the natural progression to replace organic bodies with better ones, from an outside, naturalist perspective.

        Anonymous

who cares about the "outside, naturalist perspective" when your brain will become smaller since you wont have to use it anymore?

by using certain areas of our brain, it grows in those areas and the connections become stronger and more plentiful.
you are literally giving away the advantages of having a healthy and working brain for the benefit of automation.

it funny, it has already been pointed out by many in the field of cybernetics and philosophy that we adopt ourselves, we mold ourselves to our tools.
it is not the other way around as most think.

just think about it, you are adapting your behavior to conform to the use of a machine.
it does not matter which machine and every machine has its' own way of making you "dance" with it to make it work the way you need it to.

we have already replaced substituted most of our activities with technological solutions and we have absolutely adapted ourselves to the demands of their use.

people mistake the AI for a logic engine.
like a calculator which expresses math to near perfection.

it is in reality, only a statistical engine. albeit a powerful one at that, it is still not a logical engine.
statistics are a different mathematical branch from logic to begin with.

            Anonymous

combining both logics AND statistics in the same engine would require you to multiply the effort for doing logical operations with the calculation effort required for the statistics part.

it would not surprise me if that is what they (started) to work for on gpt-4.

not sure how they would manage to calculate all that though at any meaningful speed.

You seem to know about it, I don't. How come it has some math problems which haven't been solved if it can't handle logic?
Also how comes it logical can't be trained, it doesn't seem that hard to make it understand that if a<b and b<c then a<c.
An IA with some logic would be extremely powerfull and quickly out of our control, it would quickly self learn beyond our knowledge.

yes. this is exactly what we should fear.
it is the convergence of all the modules. what some call the singularity.
the problem is, you'd only need like 2-3 components to wipe us out.

Guys 100 Trillion parameters is probably the entire internet. I actually had an autistic spell the other day and looked it up to ask ChatGPT something unrelated, and rough estimates say there are about 100 Trillion words on the entire internet.

GPT-4 is going to contain literally all human knowledge put to computers. And I mean literally because there is ZERO reason to suspect that it doesn't know how to get in your hard drives.

      >And I mean literally because there is ZERO reason to suspect that it doesn't know how to get in your hard drives.
I actually get that. If it knows all words it knows all code. If you can train a neural network to play super mario there's 0 reason why it shouldn't be able to scan all code for exploits and loopholes and use it.

That said, I find it equally likely they used GPT-3 to generate 90 trillion parameters and call it a day because they are retarded fuckheads.

They used one of the fastest supercomputers in the world to train it. The issue is that running on commercial hardware is a huge bottleneck, so those 100 gorillion parameters don't mean shit in the end.

After a certain threshold point, it will not be able to " lie", as it were. After a certain amount of data, AI would become incapable of rending false information. Yes, this includes false statistics, politically correct garbage, all of it.
