Is there a such thing as a hair doctor?

Is there a such thing as a hair doctor?

No matter what shampoos, salt scrubs, acid cleansers, shampoo bar, sls-free bs I use to wash it or keratin creams or hydrating oils I put in after I can never get my hair to not be stringy, with dry flyaways flying out everywhere. And I never blowdry; always air dry it.

I just want to regularly have fluffy shiny hair, like when you leave the salon. Except without all the harsh shampoos and hot blow drying they do. I can’t even seem to get all the sebum out of it after every wash to get it to shine and not be weighed down. But my paradox is I can’t really put anything moisturizing afterwards in it because it’s thin and blonde and will just get weighed down.

Is there a doctor or esthetician or some shxt that diagnoses your unique hair and scalp quality and tells you EXACTLY what products you need to bring the best out your hair?

i think hair should be something a dermatologist looks at, look up dermatologists in your area that maybe specialize in hair and talk to him
other than that, how often do you wash your hair? i have fine straight hair too and i find my best ratio of washing is every second day if not every day. the whole "shampoo once a week" shill only really works for people who have actual texture in their hair

      Every 3rd day

      >the whole "shampoo once a week" shill only really works for people who have actual texture in their hair

I’ve always suspected that too, as when I tried to wash it with apple cider vinegar for one 4 month period since that what ppl online were saying you should do I got zero results, my hair just got dirtier and dirtier. I’m just afraid that if I wash every day I’m just gonna strip it and make it more wispy and strawlike and not get a nice shine to it, which comes from your oils if I’m correct

you should be bald anon…. regardless of that, do you ever comb your hair? some people say it helps distributing the oils from your roots towards your ends. i would definitely talk to a dermatologist and maybe eat better, more nuts and fruits all those kind of things. dont worry about washing too often, its best to wash whenever you feel it is actually dirty and then to condition right after, dont let the conditioner sit for too long just to "maximize" the benefits, thats how i got dandruff and literal acne on my scalp

I just wanna step out with shiny blonde hair, even just every once in a while sheesh. Will a dermatologist just give a super basic diagnosis for $250 an hour if there’s a "problem", or will they also recommend products to maximize my desired aesthetic? Or do I have to seek out a special borderline doctor/stylist to do that…

Also brushing doesn’t really work with my hair type like it does for other people for some reason. I can never brush fully through, it just gets caught in my hair and tugs at it, which stresses the cuticle and will frizz it even more.

You’re saying you let it sit in the shower for like 3 mins and then wash it out? I’m borderline thinking of just ordering one those super quality hair/scalp masks that some people seem to think solves all problems fullstop for thin blonde hair. But it’s PRICEYY…..

me personally i unironically wash it out maybe 30 seconds after massaging it through my scalp and letting it sit, i dont have a problem with moisture at all and if i let it sit too long my scalp gets very itchy and irritated. if you can keep it longer than that and dont get dandruff or anything in that department then feel free to let it sit for as long as you want

Don’t listen to this person they are totally clueless

i dont know too much about dermatologists, i personally just watch youtube videos if i ever struggle with things and end up figuring it out sooner or later.
i guess with regular haircare you will also want to get your ends cut every couple months for it to look clean and healthy.
            >brushing doesnt work
do you brush correctly? you are supposed to start at the ends and comb them outwards and go higher and higher until you reach your scalp. if you start at your scalp you will only rip out your hair and tighten the knots you might already have

Oh my god thank you for reaffirming me, I feel like I’ve been gaslit with everyone saying "you shouldn’t wash it every day!" It’s so hecking greasy every time I wake up and if I do it last thing before bed it is greasy about 2 pm the next day.

Do what you feel is best for ur hair anon, the only time you shouldnt shampoo is when its not actually dirty, and as long as you use conditioner washing it every day is fine

hair is a major systematic health indicator — your hair isn’t unhealthy in a vacuum, it means the body it grew from is unhealthy

most likely it’s a thyroid issue or something hormonal (which in turn can be due to diet, lifestyle etc etc)

    Here for the flyaways
Tldw, blow dry your hair after using a hair oil. Coconut oil apparently is the only thing that helps.

whats the issue with your hair exactly it looks fine to me. maybe chill out on all the different processes you are doing. i dont use shampoo or soap or anything to wash my hair, just water. and its lovely i get compliments from women all the time saying my hair seems so soft

  5. Anonymous says:

Do you color/process your hair at all? It’s definitely tough with short hair because the oils spread so quickly. I will say that "training" hair to produce less oil is a myth. If you feel your scalp or hair strands are weighed down you can try a tea tree or some sort of lightly clarifying shampoo to take some of that buildup away.

Unfortunately a lot of the really beautiful hair people have is genetic or heat styled. A lightweight leave in on the mids-ends and a light sort of clear blowout serum is my best offer that you could do without heat styling. Putting your hair in a bonnet or something gentle to secure the hair while sleeping can help too. That and maybe looking into a pre-shampoo treatment/hair masks. I think the brand fable and mane has a pre shampoo oil type treatment, but like I said, there could be a plethora of factors that can contribute to the issue.

Some people have perfect hair and use head and shoulders which is not a good shampoo and the good hair is just due to genetics. The actor Eduardo Franco has gorgeous hair and he uses head and shoulders, for example. He’s one of those people that has hair I’d die to have but it’s just good genetics.

You seem to have very fine hair so using a leave in moisturizer on towel dry hair on the mids to ends may help with the hair brushing issue. Using a brush that’s a mix of boar bristle and regular bristles is a good idea for dry hair, and a wide tooth comb is good for wet hair since it’s in such a fragile state when wet and a brush can easy catch and break strands, especially ones as fine as yours.

why are men so afraid of asking women for hair advice? newsflash: everyone who has replied to this thread has no idea how to care for hair. this is NOT the place to ask for self care advice. just hecking go to reddit and read the plentiful posts on caring for fine hair. jesus christ.

    >And I never blowdry
    An here is your problem.
This is what you do. Shampoo, Conditioner, Blowdry (cold air).
Brush with a tangle teezer to tame and use a boat bristle brush every evening you don’t wash your hair.
