Should I switch out of Electrical Engineering to Computer Science? I want to go wherever the easy money is. I did really bad in my Signal Analysis class and almost failed Digital Logic.

how good are you at learning stuff own your own? how good are you at programming?
iirc signal analysis is pure math, but digital logic shouldn't be an issue. right now id say computer science is easier and has more chances of giving you money, electrical engineering is quite hard
>how good are you at learning stuff own your own? how good are you at programming?
I am learning C from an e book I've pirated. Right now I'm trying to get the hang of linked lists and other abstract data types. I understand this is elementary for a lot of people, though.
Do you have any experience in either of the fields? Or are you just chiming in?
I took several years of computer science at college yes, part of the reason I switched to Bio was because of the encroachment of AI that I was seeing, even back then
>I couldn't get a bachelor's in computer science in under two years and now I jerk off dogs instead
Thank you for confirming your retard status.
>do you have any experience
>yes actually here is my relevant experience
>fuck you
lol ok enjoy living out of a cardboard box when AI makes you redundant, which already happened
>80s music vid with stop motion
always based
My point exactly. Only Luddites think that technology destroys jobs. Smart people who can get things done will always be in demand.
How will AI not encroach on Bio though?
>should I switch to a degree in a field which at this very moment, not supposedly in the future, right now is being overtaken and replaced with AI?
lol
lmao
I'm not even some AI fanboy or hype huffer, but at this point it's writing on the wall for computer science
>I want to go wherever the easy money is.
Are you fucking retarded? The entire tech sector is fucked right now.
Ai is gonna take over everything stop bothering with studies
>Did bad in signals and almost failed digital logic
Well you're already not off to a great start. The pure math you probably dealt with in Signals is pretty similar to what you're gonna deal with in high level math in CS, and digital logic is one of the foundations of computing.
That said though, it's entirely possible for you to move forward despite this, just depends on how much effort you're willing to put in outside the classroom.
Also, don't worry about AI. Normies screeching about it should be your first indicator that it's no threat. No one with any real industry experience is worried about it.
>it's no threat. No one with any real industry experience is worried about it.
The massive upheaval in the tech industry and mass layoffs earlier this very year, just a few months ago, was specifically because of AI and job replacement/redundancy
No it wasn't. I would know, I've been practically in the center of it for about 2 years now.
When COVID lockdowns hit, consumer demand for online service throughout exploded. Because of this, companies like Facebook, Google, Zoom, and Amazon hired like crazy. I was lucky, I graduated around this time and managed to snag a position in one of those companies, and almost all my friends did too.
But, now that we're out of lockdowns for almost a year, that demand has plummeted, and what tech companies thought was going to be a multi-year wave they could expand off of has completely dissipated. Now, they're left with huge bloated workforces without a captive consumer base to develop for.
No AI fear mongering, just simple economics.
>just a few months ago, was specifically because of AI and job replacement/redundancy
says the jobless NEET whos never worked a programming job in his life.
Get into cybersecurity instead, lots of money, you dont really do much
This, cybersecurity people are all retarded too so there's no competition
do you actually like technology? or do you just want easy money
if you just want easy money go switch into CS
electrical engineering pays literal dogshit in comparison
>t. chip designer working in silicon valley
>Should I switch out of Electrical Engineering to Computer Science?
No, engineering is a better education than computer science, you can do both types of jobs with a engineering degree bit you can only do CS jobs with a computer science degree
>I want to go wherever the easy money is.
Define easy money, if you me lots of money with low work load go be an accountant
>I did really bad in my Signal Analysis class and almost failed
define bad like a C+? Signals is used as a second culling phase in most EE majors if you passed it you will more than likely pass the major
>For reference I have a BS in CS and ECE
*mean lots of money with low work load go be an accountant
>I typed to fast
>define bad like a C+? Signals is used as a second culling phase in most EE majors if you passed it you will more than likely pass the major
I got an F. The embarrassing part is the teacher was a lenient grader too. To be fair I did not attempt the majority of homework assignments, so I was the one who filtered myself out. I am willing to try again harder in the fall.
By the way, what are the first and third culling phases?
>I got an F.
That's not good but not the end of the world depending on how you've done on the other courses. Next time do the homework, try to get into a study group, and use your professor/TA office hours if available also try to get the solutions manual for your textbook not to cheat but to figure out where you go wrong on the homework
>what are the first and third culling phases?
There are usually two culling phases in a EE program the first is the initial physics/calculus/chemistry work load in freshman year, most people get filtered by the calculus or chemistry. Second phase is signals analysis or partial differential equations depending on the program
>I want to go wherever the easy money
kys
please don't bring him there.
>please don't bring him there.
Your right my bad, ill delete
Why don't you want me in LULZ? (I've already been a lurker there)
because you're part of the reason why that board is turning to shit
I don't even post there, retard. How is it my fault?
> he went to college for computer science
>almost failed Digital Logic
Anon if you're failing at one of the easiest parts of electronics the you have no hope for a CS degree. You could maybe get one but you'll come out and write pajeetware worse than ChatGPT. Stay in Electrical Engineering, it's actually useful and pretty sought after thing, all your phone chargers, antennas, microwave RF transmitters, battery management systems, car radios, etc had to be designed by a team of electrical engineers. At the moment AI has been doing most of the routing for big PCB's for a few years already, but circuit design, ideas, experimentation and testing still have to be done by real humans.
Thanks for the clarification. I will keep this post in mind.
Also, you can watch EEVblog tutorials and videos to understand more about electronics. Especially analogue electronics, which can be really hard if you don't have an interest in them. Also you don't necesarily need to become an electrical engineer after graduating, you can do pretty much anything regarding electronics, like repairing stuff, PCB assembly, testing hardware, etc. But you've gotta find such jobs in the first place, here in Romania there's still a pretty big market for it.
Dont be in STEM at all unless you are doing things you would want to do anyway regardless of the money, something you have a true interest in. You will hate your life otherwise.
True, most STEM guys are huge autists looking forward to reading 800 page books about very specifc tehnical topics. These guys will outdo any normie just looking for easy money or just a degree. Although a EE degree and some knowledge is still better than a meme major.
Comp Sci is not doing good right now. Seeing as how the US is trying to up it's semiconductor manufacturing, electrical engineers may become a hot new thing.
Hvac or plumbing
