The 10s had the worst fashion to date and vidya got worse with a few exceptions.

Best part was the internet culture up until around 2015-16. It was home.

      >internet culture
Pretty much. Late 2000's were simplistic and very nostalgic to look at nowadays

However 10's were pretty chaotic as the internet itself. I think the internet culture peaked on here until politics were introduced in the later phase, like 2015-16 as you said.

Yes it seems like the internet for the most part was apolitical and didn't have a lot of ideology in general beyond a few spaces dedicated for that sort of shit. You kind of had to look for that sort of discussion if you wanted it. Post 2016 election is where you started to see the same bullshit mentioned everywhere you go; trump, USA, incels, dumb progressive crap, etc. People realized the potential social media has for pushing your views and went full steam ahead.

Everybody incorrectly states that 2016 and the US election for that year was the start of the internet becoming political. While it is true that this was the catalyst for the internet rapidly becoming more political. The start of the internet becoming political would have to be with the Occupy Wall St Protests in 2012; Rise of 3rd Wave Feminism in 2013, and Gamer Gate in 2014. All of those set the groundwork for people picking sides politically and becoming more involved in politics.

This. 2009 hit different for the internet. It felt like one big ol party that slowly started to push shit we didnt want is the best way to put it.

Ok, this is a list of things that were popular in the early 2010's let's see what they have in common and hiw we can relate them between each other:

    >minecraft
    >freaking mlp
    >adventure time
    >dubstep
    >MLG videos

        >What are we waiting for
The 2010's are over so "we" can't do anything about it and I don't even know if the 2010's had an aesthetic. What did the 60's 70's 80's 90's and 2000's have? I guess the 80's aesthetic is synthwave and sythesizers and gluttony and I don't think there was ever a 70's aesthetic because it was such a depressing miserable time I guess any colour pattern that's not saturated and maybe rock n roll because that's when it was at its most popular

it was pretty much a refinement of the late 2000's internet culture until political discussion entered the scene of both internet and videogames

Let's not forget Skyrim, marvel movies, fomo normie tv shows that everyone talks about, the rise of and corpitization of social media giants, the birth of meme culture, the rise of e-celebs like PewDiePie, gay jokes, "going viral", Justin beiber (and hating him), Nickelback, occupy wall street

When was it then? Because in the late Y2K internet users repeated thing because they were funny. In the 2010's users repeated thing until they "became funny". And that's what I call meme culture.

Its always existed, since the dawn of civilization really.
But the earliest internet memes can be found on YTMND which was 2003.

      >early 2010's
Early 2010's were somewhat like how the 80's didn't really end until fall of 1991 when Smells Like Teen Spirit came out. A lot of the fashion and culture was still stuff from the late 2000's, specifically hipster fashion. Then you had Occupy in 2011, and after that people started to pretend to care about a bunch of different bullshit, which caused a shift in the culture.

The 10s had the worst fashion to date and vidya got worse with a few exceptions.

Best part was the internet culture up until around 2015-16. It was home.

One of the reasons I'm now a wizard is because freshman year for me was when the whole fat acceptance movement started, so for the four years I spent in uni I was surrounded by hamplanets wearing shit that didn't fit them, which made me unmotivated to fix myself enough to get a GF. Sure, there were other reasons for my demise too and I can't just blame people being fat for my troubles, but it was a contributing factor.

Given the composition of dubstep, the map generation of Minecraft, the structure in the scripts of Adventure Time and Regular Show episodes and the fact that a cartoon like MLP became popular. It's safe to say that "chaotic and colorful" is an appropriate definition for this aesthetic.

For now let's call it "Dubstepcore"

Another concept that was popular back then, present in Adventure Time and Five Nights at Freddy's was the fact that things had a "hidden lore". However that's one of the things that needs to be polished through the dubstepcore because they were often poorly executed in the 2010's

(Pic related because Slenderman and creepypastas also were popular)

Geometry Dash is likely to be a dubstepcore game
    >colorful
    >chaotic
    >base electronic music in the game with most famous mods being plain dubstep
    >it was also an early entry on the modern "phone gaming" scene

Don't think I have to explain this one:

Only recently, but 2006-2013 is a very arbitary timeframe, and I think only Minecraft would fit

my youtube recommended get bombarded with videos about frutiger aero as of recently for some reason kek

But do people really feel "nostalgic" for this kind of visual style? To me it's still feels like the "default", and it really was before that whole minimalism craze started in the early 2010s. We still use glassy/"aero" surfaces and seukomorphic design on low-end hardware (car navigation for example). Also grouping the early 2000s together with the early 2010s seems wrong since they vere both very distinct visually.

        Anonymous

I don't get it too, but as you said it only gives "default background" and "demo music" vibes. At least dubstep, CoD videos and Minecraft tutorials are remimiscent the era they belonged to

then again you have to factor in age differences. Someone who is in his mid-teens right now has no actual memories from the period before material design took over so it might as well feel as dated as the 90s to someone who was born around 2000 or so.
