There are plenty of NYers with money who think wearing a boxy camp collar baggy jeans and sambas is a “fit”, or worse just Macys mannequin lookin ah chinos/navy sweater/light brown wingtips

people that still live in new york:
    >secretaries that make $500,000/yr sending out rejection letters
    >chinese crammed four to a bedroom
    >a few realtors that are very good at short-term planning desperately trying to lease out a bunch of abandoned realty offices
    >remodelers hiding from city inspectors
    >small army of inspectors trying to look peek past butcher paper
    >large army of homeless
    >proto-rathounds

          Whats your point?

That’s the point, there is nowhere good in this country
If I was gonna move to a larger city it would be Miami

You don’t want to move to Miami.

            It 100% is.

Miami can be fun but it’s basically a playground for ethnic people with money. It’s nigga rich: the city. The city is trying to ape Austin now which is also a little cringey. They want to attract crypto people, startup people, podcast people, people who talk about how profound Mises was, you get the idea.

There’s a handful of U.S. cities where you can live without a car easily. Some New Yorkers moved to Philly and Chicago for this reason. But those NYC refugees have mostly gone back to where they’re from. The ones under 35 are living with parents fairly often. Some of them moved to Florida or Texas because they’re hype chasers and do not how do to do anything but move to the most hyped places. Some are currently expats traveling on mom and dad’s dime.

I wish we had more options for cities.
I don’t even necessarily want a city I just want to not have to use a car all the time.

So where are you supposed to live instead? Every other city is based on cars

I come from a smaller city where everybody is kind of just a stupid mouthbreathing redneck who wears camo and whatever else us poor people wear
As I expanded my fashion into more expensive, niche, and (imo) interesting pieces, I was told by people I know to venture to nearby bigger cities where there’s more actual thought put into how people dress
But 95% of it is just men dressing as women and then crying about transphobia/homophobia if you say they look shit
Like i don’t even care that these city niggas are men dressing as women, I’ve unironically seen it done well but 99% of the shit I see is just gay nonsense and critiquing those people is just met with whining
    I hate it

i mean critiquing anybodys style of dressing is not normally met warmly, people dont like being criticized even if its in good faith

I will clarify, I don’t just go to these people and say "lol tranny u dress like shit"
It’s if it ever came up in a casual discussion, I’d mention that a lot of these outfits are objectively not good according to my own tastes
and the response is "well you’re transphobic/homophobic"

What the heck am I reading here? You’re saying your story was you grew up in a redneck town, got into fashion, was told by rednecks to go to a nearby city to immerse yourself in more fashion, you actually do this, and now you’re in some sort of club that discusses fashion, despite nobody in the city being fashionable? This is some deep lore shit.
