rules for sweatshirt

I’ve never worn a crewneck sweatshirt in my life, only zip hoodies and regular knit sweaters. Are there any special features to look out for in a crewneck sweatshirt, perhaps something like:
– Material composition
– Material weight
– proportions
– Combinations with other items of clothing
– designs
– Brands
etc.

Cotton 100%. French terry is nice.
Depends on how you plan to wear them. I like heavyweight.
Depends on what proportions you find flattering and interesting. I like them fairly cropped with an average fit, not slim or oversized, just slightly boxy. I dont mean like a crop top, just dont get something thats so long it messes up your poportions and makes you look short.
I like wearing them over button-ups, or on their own with jeans chinos or fatigues. Or under an overshirt.
The little "dorito" stitch is a good detail to look for.

the triangle at the opening for the head?

Yes that triangle is there to help the neck maintain its shape. Nice feature for a little bit of extra stitching.

i’m going to answer your question about cotton crewneck sweatshirts. i consider them their own category separate from wool ones but if you want my opinions on those i can give them too.

    >Material composition
loop wheeled ones are softer and get nicer instead of shittier from repeated washings. worth the cost but v expensive. french terry is the second best imo.

    >Material weight
depends on season and the weather where you live no right or wrong answer.

    >Proportions
    depends entirely on the person.

    >Combinations with other items of clothing
i’m not your stylist and you’ve given me no starting point beyond ‘make a fit with a white tee shirt’ tbhbro.

    >designs
i always look for ones with raglan sleeves. they look feel and fit better.

    >brands
    loopwheeler
    reigning champ
    iron heart
    buzz rickson
    the real mccoy’s
    gustin
are all ones i’ve had or tried on that are good.
most japanese denim brands make real nice ones too ymmv on fit

Don’t fall this meme, it’s just a material made with a super slow process that has not only no benefits materialwise, but comes with a ridiculous price tag and not even side-seams.

don’t listen to this post completely clueless. he doesn’t even know what loopwheel means he’s mixing it up with tube knit.
        >but comes with a ridiculous price tag and not even side-seams
that’s tube knit. not all loopwheel tees are tube knit. loopwheel tees can be cut and sew. go to wonderlooper’s website for an example.
        >that has not only no benefits materialwise
yes it does. its softer, springier, and most importantly it retains the softness over years of washing unlike woven tees. the difference is in how it ages, you’re probably not old enough to even know lol.

I know the difference, you are making wrong assumptions. One more time, don’t be fooled by "special" and "traditional" methods that have been supplanted by quicker methods that give you a valuable tee at 1/10 or even 1/20th the prices in a decent quality. Don’t fall for the cult.

            >I know the difference
you provably have no clue what you’re talking about. you mistook tubular knit for loop wheeled thinking they are mutually exclusive like a dumb ass who’s googling along as he goes and doesn’t have the slightest clue what he is talking about, but simultaneously somehow thinks his worthless opinion has any value worth sharing with the world. have a nice day npc stupid you iphone midwit low effort posting Black folk ruined the internet by thinking your mid wit drivel is worth putting out into the world for other people to read.

just buy a hane’s heavyweight crewneck, they make them in like 50 colors and they’re cheap. tons of brands just buy hane’s hoodie or crewneck blanks, print a design and resell them for $40+

    • Anonymous says:

      >just buy a hane’s heavyweight crewneck
What are the brands that have long been popular with the average American? (regardless of quality)

    • Anonymous says:

      >hanes heavyweight crewneck
get a vintage 90s or older one on ebay for the same price its much much nicer.
