During summer I usually dress like pic related. It’s sloppy and I want something a little neater. Especially the basketball shorts. What are some upgrades I can make? A lot of my work is outside so it needs to be functional.

imagine thinking there’s anything wrong with this
hahahaha the child standing next to him in the exact same fit
this is the exact thing I’m trying to avoid
if you don’t have a decent physique and at least decently muscular thighs, stick to long pants in the summer. some men have | shaped legs and some men have chicken drumstick shaped legs. if you don’t have drumstick legs don’t wear shorts unless you really know what you’re doing imo. there are plenty of comfortable long pants options. for op’s specific question, presumably doing labor outside where a lot of typical summer long pants options wouldn’t be durable or stain/dirt/grime resistant enough for that.
but luckily for you i used to do landscape and i already know the answer: lightweight denim.
you want 8-10oz and raw not pre distressed (you don’t want already thin denim to be sand blasted before you buy it) and if you really want to sperg getting jeans sewn in a 2×1 twill will breathe better than the standard 3×1 twill most jeans are. 2×1 is the pattern denim shirts usually are made of.
here’s my rec for a lightweight 2×1 twill pair of jeans in a suitable cut for doing outdoor labor in the summer for most/all body types:
https://misterfreedom.com/products/raiders-fatigues-2×1-army-denim
i have not owned this exact pair myself but my old work jeans were from a very similar 8oz 2×1 fabric so they should be very comparable.
>want to mow the yard but don’t want to look unfashionable by wearing shorts? just buy this $300 pair of jeans to wear while doing your yardwork
why are you like this
i can’t even come here to make fun of you people anymore
it feels like picking on the stupid kid
your own posts mock you more effectively than i ever could
i’m not the one who’s destitute poor but thinks my opinion on fashion means anything feller.
the poorest people are the ones who think that they need to advertise their supposed wealth via their clothes
usually but say you make $300 every day, is it worth $300 to be a bit more comfortable every day and look professional on the job? especially when your job is somewhat customer facing?
i wish there was or i knew of a cheaper pair of pants that hits all the marks: 2×1 twill, light weight, wide leg for full mobility & indigo dyed (antimicrobial + hides dirt)
if he’s not doing labor he could just wear like idk, linen, tropical wool, plain weave, etc pants which are all cheap. those don’t hold up to labor. his post made it sound like he’s prly doing something like that.

landscape architects make around 100k/yr
non-illegal landscape foremen make like 50-60k/yr
illegal/new/unskilled landscapers make like 45k/yr

it continues to surprise me how shockingly ugly and expensive designer shoes are while looking like worse versions of some generic skate shoe
those ricks are not a good example of what i mean because they are vulcanized so by nature no matter how nice you make them they won’t last long. this only applies to cup soled sneakers and stuff like hender scheme where it looks like a sneaker but its constructed like a dress/casual shoe. but hey i’ll say this. all my designer sneakers i bought 10-15 years ago are still in wearable condition because they’re made of higher quality materials especially in the leather department where cheap sneakers don’t really even qualify as leather since they’re splits grade suede coated in plastic. all my cheap sneakers and hypebeast nike’s and stuff are either long ago thrown in the trash or wearable still but look like shit. i’m not one of those gays who baby’s and doesn’t wear my expensive sneakers everything in rotation got worn about the same amount. the designer ones were actually cheaper in the long run than replacing cheap sneakers every year.
literally just wear pants instead of shorts
can be athletic pants, dry fit is fine, as long as you don’t wear shorts like a hecking child, i don’t care if you live in florida and you’re sweating your ass off at 85F
you can literally keep everything else the same and just wear pants instead of shorts and you’ll be fine as long as they’re not too baggy and you’re not fat or old
it kind of depends on the type of sneaker though some cheap sneakers can last a really long time. leather uppers is where there’s the biggest disparity. something like a nylon running shoe there won’t be much of a difference.
hey fren, speaking of leather would you be able to recommend some boots (or some other material if you’d think it suitable)? i just moved to an area where it rains 80% of the time.
t. unironic female (female)
Russel mocs
this rec is great too, basically the same as what i rec’d but with lug soles
get a pair of these
and a pair of these https://www.yuketen.com/ready-to-wear/-po-maine-guide-db-boots-with-christy-natural-fo-g-brown
if you plan to wear boots every day you need 2 pairs to rotate or else they wear 5000000x faster. they gotta dry and breathe after wear especially if in a wet climate. russell mocs are lugged and are designed for off road use. the yuketens are wedge sole and designed for comfort on pavement and indoor.
true moccasins are the most waterproof boots (and the most comfortable) because the leather wraps all the way around your foot. both these boots are true mocs w/ gusseted tongues and all the bells and whistles. russell sells a good warm weather boot too.

if you don’t have that much money to drop all at once get a pair of wellies (rubber rain boots) make sure they fit very well so they dont blister you then rotate those with either one of the boots we recced. if you live in a rainy area you definitely should have a pair of wellies around maybe even some muck boots. wellies can be cute. muck boots p much always ugly function>form but theyre associated with horse girls so w/e.
$300 is rather cheap to make every day of your life at your job better if you’re not on min wage. if you work outside it can be miserable in hot/rain/cold weather. landscapers and contractors get paid well there’s a good chance $300 ain’t shit to op.
>not look like a chickenleg dork if you don’t have nice legs in the summer
>not be sweating all day
>durable and antimicrobial/anti smell enough to work in
naked and famous used to make cheap 2×1 jeans but they were a discontinued seasonal item abt 10 years ago.
not aware of anything else much cheaper than mr freedom & their cut is amazing.
i like the uniqlo linen trousers in the summer
1. don’t be fat
2. don’t wear shorts that go below your knees.
it’s that simple.
thats a short day of work to buy the jeans if you’re skilled
and a long day and a half of work if you’re brand new
It would look 1000x better if you swapped in 5”-7” inseam shorts and white chucks.
It would still be not great, but it wouldn’t be bad.
I bought FOTL stay tucked undershirts like an idiot and they’re too long to wear as normal shirts without it going past my ass and making me toddler walk. They’re too baggy to wear tucked. I hecked up.
i’m no fashion expert, but one thing i do know is shorts shouldn’t go below your knees
not to say they need to be super short either. middle of the kneecap or just above is fine. but shorts below the knee mess with your proportions and make your legs look way shorter
