My phone stopped loading youtube sometimes on the phone so I use share menu to newpipe floating player and position it right over the video that won't load and laugh at my genius stunt
i think a hosts file still works. i use one in conjunction with ublock and i don't get ads on youtube.
hosts alone doesn't block video ads afaik, at least not for me

i am truly bewildered by the amount of people having trouble blocking youtube ads. my setup is ublock origin and dns with ad blocking. i have never had trouble using youtube and i've never been told "ur using an adblocker!!"
why not just use freetube/libretube? it just werks.

-re-install UO and update filters
Youtube checks for a cookie in your browser if it detect UOrigin.
and block based on that.
