I'll never understand why so many people who "just don't like rap" enjoy MF DOOM. I've listened to some of it and it's just so boring and bland, not musical at all.
I'm not a rap fan at all but there's definitely rap I'd gladly listen to over this. It's everything I don't like about rap in the first place.

Listen to De La Soul
De la soul's beats are trash, their flows are wack, and the lyrical content isn't as creative as DOOM. Sometimes I just wanna hear a 40 year old dude rap about his favorite cartoons from the 70s.

That’s basically all of his songs, he just isn’t low IQ in how he presents it like most rappers.
He's usually somewhat critical of those things, though (minus weed), whereas other rappers glorify degenerate behavior. He himself never raps about robbing people, but he'll rap about being on the reviving end of those things.

Every time with this, like there aren't countless artists that don't talk about those subjects. If someone has found DOOM, they have to be actively shutting their eyes to not find other acts they'd like.

what are they? People call them nu metal but i dont really see that. if they're nu metal, i hate nu metal as well so it still works out
Disturbeds first album is pretty by the books nu metal, second album kind of moved a bit more into "alternative metal" territory some might say but still with plenty nu metal.
After that they started becoming a sort of weird amalgamation band like many nu metal bands did when the style fell off, in Disturbed's case they started getting even more melodic and adding in guitar solos, seeming like they maybe wanted to fit in more with classic metal bands or something, but they still have nu metal riffs, and electronic influence crap that they always had, so idk.
