you are stopped at an intersection, turning left. do you:
shift up to 2nd while turning
start in 2nd
shift up to 2nd before turning
turn in 1st gear

idc, DSGod does that for me
Why would you need second to make a turn from a stop? How pathetic is your vehicle?
lets say I have a mirage just for the sake of the topic.
on a bumpy road my car cannot go over 24mph in 1st gear and it's unpleasant to do so
The one and only job of first gear is to get you moving from a standstill, you're supposed to immediately go into second once you're going
Why would you ever start in 2nd and why do you think it matters if you're turning while in 1st or 2nd gear?
Well that's normal in diesel pickup but I don't think that's what OP has.
Why they fuck would you start in second from a start?
But I'm not stopped at an intersection.
Entirely depends on the vehicle, I'll do whatever feels right.
Except start in second.
>shift up to 2nd while turning
If it feels right to do so. I don't even think about shifting any more.
>start in 2nd
If I'm in a truck
>shift up to 2nd before turning
If I forget I'm in a truck before starting the turn, OR if i'm at the back of a long turn lane
>turn in 1st gear
If traffic's going that slow or I don't have any traction.
>If it feels right to do so. I don't even think about shifting any more.
same, at some point it just becomes second nature, even double clutching
depends on a million of factors, therr are no single rule for every intersection and car out there.
it all comes down to feel right there and then.
never mind, i'm buying an automatic. I have autism
ill simplify:
>turning left
>do i wanna go faster
>shift to second
>do i wanna go slower/maintain speed
>no shifty
you did it!!!
I mog your question because I have shifted to D before I reached your question.
Slide
I have 8 gears so left turns will often need at least a shift to second.
What ever the automatic thinks is best for the given situation
I usually shift into second after starting at around 1.8k-2k rpm. The only time I ever work the first gear is if I'm pulling and to be honest with you I exclusively own underpowered jap shitboxes so I'm not doing any pulls.
I shift straight from first to third unless I'm trying to accelerate hard.
> Be at intersection
>Crossing through several lanes
>Never know when some retarded car, bikes, bicycles or pedestrian might do something retarded.
>Pressing the clutch, thus disengading the engine from the wheels.
>Shifting gear, thus losing one hand for steering.
I'll turn in 1st gear.
>why does his car sound so loud he's only going 20mph
>is it broken?
>turning at 20mph from a dead stop.
Not even with a Plaid.
you don't have to start turning until half way into the intersection
