I've mostly seen outrage from Twitter Terfs and the AfD (and I think Wagenknechts part of die Linke) but other than those, the biggest thing about were that came up in any form in my life was my hairdresser and a doctor of mine asking me a few questions about how the process works right now. So kinda tame reaction from everyone not on the fringes

I'm German and laws like this are usually passed quietly, behind the peoples backs.
State media doesn't report on it at all and other publications follow suit.

Do you know of all the laws that have been passed in your country during the last year?
        Of course not.
        >You're complaining that media don't feed outrage swil to lazy masses.
No, I am complaining that the media doesn't do their job of informing the masses about important laws being passed.

          Leah

it is publicly available knowledge what the parliament votes upon, when they vote and who voted how.
People being too lazy to inform themselves is their own fault.
If you actually care about the laws, you'll find information about them easily.

You can literally just look up what laws and ideas the parliament will vote upon for the week, go over them, see what affects you and then inform yourself about those laws, ignoring everything that you do not care about.
Takes an hour per week at most and that includes actually reading the complete texts for a proposed law

This sounds like a real bad idea.

      why?

        Anonymous

I dont know. I am just going off the headline here so I dont know the specifics of the law or anything but it sounds sketchy. I mean I think simply calling someone a name is a stupid thing to make illegal in the first place
What here would qualify as a deadname?
If some clerk reads your deadname off a form since it hasn't been updated since is that a misdemeanor? What about some 14 year old NB who wants to be call Vriska or sock or something stupid and teacher doesn't call them that? What if someone genuinely knows you by your deadname.
It probably wouldn't be an issue in like 99% of cases but it still seems like a bad idea to me.

          Leah

I'm assuming they are including that in there so it is guaranteed that people can get their documents properly updated.
At the moment, the TSG is set up in a way that guarantees you that if you have changed your name through this law, you can have stuff like marriage certificates and school reports updated and the corresponding schools, registry offices, etc. can't just deny you that, and also aren't allowed to disclose the old information.

With the TSG about to be phased out, they need to ensure that there is still a legal guarantee that updating documents will work.

I don't know if it will also affect individuals deadnaming, but if it does, I'd assume that it will work the same way as the Insult law at the moment, so the deadnamed party actually has to sue to start the whole process.

And I'd assume that for most people, suing would only make sense if someone deliberately and repeatedly deadnames someone, not just because someone hadn't gotten the fax yet.

    Just so everybody knows:
Insulting somebody in general can be made into a crime if the other guy is an ornery enough butthole over here, so making deadnaming a crime isn't "troony Supremacy" or whatever, it's just expanding the already existing law of insulting people.
However, nobody outside of Berlin actually sues people for insults or shit because we aren't a bunch of pansies.
However you can get fined for insulting a cop or flipping off a motorist, and charges for that happen pretty frequently in lower income areas.

      Leah

There is also a law in place that stops organizations from deadnaming people on documents already, as the TSG, which is the current way to change your name and gender entry, has a built in function to ensure people can get their documents updated.

I'm just a regular German guy so I don't know much about trans regulations in Germany, but that sounds good.
The dignity of man is untouchable afterall, and I'd like to think that also counts for people who used to be men.

          >The dignity of man is untouchable afterall, and I'd like to think that also counts for people who used to be men.

With the new law, hopefully, with the TSG, not even close.

Sad thing is, the TSG used to be even worse, only having been somewhat been improved because several parts have been declared to be unconstitutional, so no longer are in effect.

Bit weird. I never see anything about trannies in my area and people aren't woke either, most of them dislike trannies and homosexuals a lot. There are no therapists I'd know of who are specialized in transsexuality where I live. Don't get the wrong impression from articles like this, living in Germany as a troony or a repper sucks unless it's some very liberal area.

      Leah

I wouldn't necessarily say it sucks, the biggest problem is that most people don't actually hate trannies but have some stupid ideas about what it means to be trans and even the medical proffessionals don't really have a clue.
Source: Am troony living in Germany.
I've never faced open discrimination or anything like that, but god it is exhausting having to argue with doctors about something they should know better but don't.

This is such a nothingburger. Legislation is about changing your documents. It doesn't interfere with what doctors can do. Transitioning this young was possible decades ago.
Now a 14 yo can change their gender marker and name, but good luck finding a doctor to properly troon out. It's pretty unrealistic unless you have your parents support.

Difference between trans genocide and racial genocide is that you cannot ever get rid of trans people. You probably carry trans genes. Trans people have been genocided by denying them the treatment (HRT, and the other treatments) And trans ppl have always existed and they always will. Things are finally becoming better, more trans rights. More equality. The earlier they get help the better they will be able to pass. If you look outside, the standarts for feminity isnt that high. Avarage woman isnt a supermodel.
