I don't get cloud served music. I am old and prefer optical media, but since that is a pain in the ass compared to storing it locally on the diskdrive, I do that. Having to have an internet connection in order to listen to my music seems stupid.

maybe I would bother to do this if we were still in 2010 back when my music palette wasn't that much big and I only listened to maybe 25 artists

More than half of my local music library isn't available on Spotify. It seems like everyone I talk to has some songs they had to give up in order to move to Spotify.
This is beyond me to be honest. Maybe they just don't really care about music they listen to, but I wouldn't give up on some of my favourite tracks just for sake of... I don't even know exactly. Algorithm recommendations? I just directly follow artists I like on YouTube and Twitter and discover new artists through labels and LULZ generals.
It's like people aren't even aware this is the option, they just want to be feed directly by the algorithm from the limited slice of slop that is available on these platforms.

Music is too important to me to abandon songs I love and limit myself to small selection of most popular pieces.

The only thing not on there for me is jorge ben jor. A good artist that has like 200 listeners is el obo and he's on there. His other band colour revolt is on there too and it's also good.

Gross there is no good new music. Daws and the telecommunications act of 1996 destroyed music. You need to mine back to honestly before the 80s. 80s production is awful and robotic and was the beginning of the end. 60s was the peak of music in pretty much every genre.

i use spotify because somewhere in my life i decided im not going to manually download a file from a website every time i want to listen to a song. my music taste is also sufficiently schizo that i literally dont think i could find most of the music i listen to in torrents etc

my daily mix is always the same dozen or so songs. No matter what song I pick it always converges to the same shit after 3 or 4 songs play. I don't get it.

I don't let computers choose what I listen to because they don't know what I want to listen to. I have curated 1 playlist of songs to listen to with other people, the rest of the time I listen to albums in full from start to finish, as intended.
I use Soulseek to download albums that I don't own or can't rip because I don't have an optical drive.
On android I use Seeker which is an open source Soulseek client.
Also just search albums on YouTube sometimes so I can read the comments while I listen.

      >as intended.
Who dictated this intended listening experience? The artist or the publisher? I don't want to feel like I am being manipulated with some mind virus programmed by the NWO.

The artist, publishers have no influence over the music I listen to.
I also sometimes fantasize that I'm curating music for an imaginary audience, providing commentary (in my head) while I'm listening to the music. If I hear certain standout parts, themes, or even interesting stories/connections that a song or artist has to another, I'll add that song next in queue. Like a musical tour guide, but I also benefit and have fun, not just the imaginary people.
One last thing is I like creating music videos in my head. Some are really good and I wish I could make them.
