I am starting my first career type job after graduating and I’m at a loss as to what to wear. Business casual is probably a safe bet, any /fashion/ tips for business casual? I’m thinking khakis and chinos with long sleeve shirts tucked in, but shoes/watch/belt/other is where I’m at a loss. Any advice frens
>shoes
What kind of shoes do you like? If I had to wear business casual every day I’d wear loafers exclusively. Autistic people who don’t know what good looks like may tell you to get hideous wingtips.
>watch
Anything from Rolex, Omega, Blancpain, Grand Seiko, Zenith, or Tudor.
>belt
Something that matches your shoes.
>other
Look at cardigans and blazers.
>loafers, rolex, grand seiko, cardigans
come on man that’s just ridiculous
Ridiculously comfy.
loafers and cardigans are too casual even for business casual. Id only wear loafers to a lunch and a cardigan under a blazer or at home
Well, you’re not a transwoman
Congratulations
most "business casual" workplaces these days are actually just smart casual.
You seem to have a very dated view of what business casual is. In urban American cities you’ll see people going to work in those ugly leather casual shoes with cemented rubber outsoles while wearing off brand smart watches and untucked polo shirts. I don’t know where you’re from but at least in the US he’d be dressed way less casually than his coworkers in what I suggested.
well in my shitty neck of the woods everyone wears pea coats with chelsea boots and i want to die
ok that’s actually true but loafers trigger me honestly. they seem like something youd wear at home or getting groceries
They are peak comfy
Solid advice, thank you. How about black shoes? I feel like black derbys may not work out too well for some basic business casual but I’m also kinda stupid
Black shoes you’ll have to be careful with. I won’t tell you black derbies are useless to have as opposed to oxfords, or that black is exclusively a formal color for shoes, but it does require some discretion and thought to wear
That’s what I figured, black seems to be tricky. Brown it is for now. I just need to get a brown belt
Nothing wrong with some dark brown leather derbys and a brown belt (either one, gold or silver is ok). You don’t need a watch or any other accessories. Just stick to light blue and white shirts for now, and you cant go wrong with blue grid on white. Grey chinos are a good option too.
Make sure you buy shoes and a belt that aren’t garbage. You can get a new full grain leather belt for like $50, and new decent shoes for under $300. Of course, avoid "genuine leather"
I dont know if you’ll have to wear a tie but if it’s expected then go for something pretty basic. Not red or black, and not knit or shiny
Good luck!
Just got to mens warehouse and have them fit you. They will measure you, help you pick out clothes, match colors and when your done they will make alterations to your stuff.
Anons will shit on mens warehouse but if your new to dressing up then its not a bad idea.
The only time I’ve ever gone to Men’s Warehouse it was because I had a friend getting married and he wanted to get a wedding package deal from there. Every single shoe they had was hideous and made poorly, we wound up with some garbage Johnston and Murphy diffusion line shoes that I gave to my dog later. They tried getting us to settle for some 40% polyester 60% cotton blend suits after we’d specifically asked for a wool blend. We wound up finally settling on some wool blend ones that were unfortunately fused like every other suit in the store. They had to go back for alterations twice since the first time it was done they got the sleeves uneven. When we went back the second time they had lost all of the suits and told us to come back the next day.
His best bet would be to go to a mom and pop menswear store and make sure they seem like they know what they’re talking about. Shame on you for recommending a place that only sells fused jackets to a person who may be wearing one every day.
This. Plus you don’t need a suit for a first job unless it’s in like a law or government office
You can make outfits on pinterest or by asking your mom if a shirt goes well with some pants.
Bullshit
You’re a liar and you have no friends
black brogue oxford shoes, apple watch/cheap timex/seiko5, black belt.
what kind of job are we talking about. like a cashier teller at a bank? or is this like data entry job?
unless you are a jazz musician these shoes are not a good idea
R&D job at a major company
