By making them forget how to speak their own language.

>How do you cope not being Norman?
by having sex with northern french and belgian women
I’m the only person on this board that has had sex…
I had sex three times. Well, twice I guess.
I'm Sicilian and my grandma is very pale with Germanic features. Palermo was very heavily norman so I am probs like 1/4 Norman anyway
Toto' touch grass please
I cope by knowing my people gave them more resistance and had more success against them than any other peoples who the Normans went up against. Anglo Saxons must be mortified though having being rolled over so easily by the Normans.
Who?
The great and honorable LARP people
Lithuanian-Alpinic Republic of Poland?
if they were so succesful, where are they now?
The majority of rich white people in England are of majority Norman ancestry, not to mention the rest of the white population having at least some Norman ancestry. By extension that includes Americans and Canadians of English ancestry. Of course you have white French people in France as well as Canada. Then there’s Sicilians. Not only those on the island of Sicily, but Americans, Canadians, and Australians of Sicilian ancestry.
>are of majority Norman ancestry
proof?
>No
There is no proof it's an autistic myth based off of surnames.
>“your surname is Nguyen. You live in Westminster, California… a city with a large Vietnamese diaspora. There is reason to believe you are of Vietnamese ancestry.”
>“No, that’s just a myth”
Like the other anon said, if Nguyens were a tiny minority 1000 years ago, having that surname today would mean jack shit about your actual ancestry. Especially if Vietnamese were a ruling elite wich upcoming nobles tried to emulate and adopt their surnames.
False. They didn't stay majority Norman for more than a few generations at best. Normans intermarried with the local nobility and the later French. Just like how the Norman nobility were no longer majority Scandinavian by the Norman Conquest.
If your argument is based on surnames then yes many rich white people in England have Norman paternal lines though that doesn't make them majority Norman.
Turks are mystery meat with barely any Turkic genes in them, yet that is still the culture that's dominant.
There is no Norman culture in England.
>many rich white people in England have Norman paternal lines
Not even necessarily the case. Surviving Anglo nobility adoped french sounding names
Like the Nevilles
My haplogroup is Norman because I say it is.
Simple as
Nomans lost mist of their social priviledge in england by the high middle ages already.
They are marginally overrepresented anywhere.
>Clark notes that many surnames in the medieval period indicated the bearer's occupation such as mason, carpenter or baker. Those bearing the surname "Smith", for example, were chiefly descended from the simple village blacksmiths that emerged in the middle of the 14th century.
>Strikingly, by 1450 the share of "Smiths" at Oxford University, the entry for those wishing to rise to the highest positions in the church and therefore a key indicator of social achievement, was equal to their proportion across the general population.
>And by 1650 there were as many "Smiths" in the top 1% of wealth holders as in the general population, suggesting they had been completely assimilated into the elite.
>families such as the Darcys drew their names from the Normandy towns and villages from where they originally came.
>His research suggests that by the 13th century these surnames were on average eight times as common at Oxford university as in the general population. >However, by the early 15th century such names were only twice as common at the university as in the general population, suggesting many wealthy families were unable to sustain their privileged position during the period
They were literal failures
>His research suggests that by the 13th century these surnames were on average eight times as common at Oxford university as in the general population. >However, by the early 15th century such names were only twice as common at the university as in the general population, suggesting many wealthy families were unable to sustain their privileged position during the period
Couldn't that be explained by the native population growth relative to the people carrying Norman names? At any rate, I wouldn't call being twice as overrepresented at university as the general population after 300+ years a failure.
No, becauase it makes the comprision relative to their representation on the general population
If there was 1 smith each 100 persons there was 1 smith each 100 oxford students.
Normans got 3/4 of their overrepresentation severed in 300 years. By the next 200 they would maybe be 10% or 15% better off than the average.
Considering the insanely priviledged position they attained initially is very dissapointing, more so considered this was medieval europe.
The house of Lords. Also Normandy.
I don't have to
What a time it must’ve been to be able to takeover a country and establish yourself as a noble.
I don't need to. I'm part Norman.
Normans haven't been relevant for centuries. Like what's in Normandy, cows and apple orchards?
normans are absolutely based, the perfect mix of latin and germanic blood creating the strongest, most adventurous warrior culture of northern europe
Lol no. Northern french were never latin genetically, they were just gauls.
There haven't been any normans since the 1200's. Their crusader states in the levant were gone by then, and they ceased to exist as mercenaries and were fully assimilated into french, irish, scottish and english socities. The 11th century normans had some impressive achievements for how small in numbers they were, but it's cause of that number that they couldn't help being assimilated. This kind of dick-waving contest is pointless and annoying. If you want to talk about normans, please do so without those flame-baiting posts.
beating them in a war
By being of other groups that also wrote european history. But appreciating the accomplishments of the normans.
The reason the Normans were so successful is because they were basically geniuses.
https://iqpersonalitygenius.blogspot.com/2014/07/the-highly-intelligent-normans.html
> How did they do this? My impression is that the method seems to have been by superior organization supported by superior technology - especially technology in relation to what might be termed engineering or architecture.
> It seems, as a rule, a small minority can only successfully dominate a majority by superior technology; and superior technology implies superior intelligence.
> My understanding is that once the Normans had defeated the Anglo-Saxons natives in one locality, they would force the natives to build a castle; from which the minority of Normans could then dominate the surrounding population from a position of safety; then the military force would move on to subdue the next region, and force these new natives to build the castles which would then become the instruments of their own suppression.
> Thereby, local and piecemeal superiority was swiftly converted to national and overall superiority. Once a network of castles were dotted over the whole of England, then the Normans could not be defeated.
> In a nutshell, it looks to me as if the Normans were simply more intelligent than the Anglo Saxons - and not a little, but a lot more intelligent.
> Presumably at least one standard deviation more intelligent than the Native English (i.e. if the native IQ was called 100, the Normans must have had an IQ of 115 or more).
> (One SD seems to be the usual (minimum) difference which allows one group to rule another - whether the difference is between classes, castes or races.)
> And I am not sure, but I think that Norman cultural achievements are also at least consistent with higher intelligence than the native Anglo-Saxons.
Does people really quotes blogspots as some kind of authority in greentext?
I'm American but my last name is Norman so I will feel free to WE WUZ.
FUCKING NORMANS GET THE FUCK OFF MY ISLAND REEEEEEEEEEEEEE
