You want it to cost $140.99?
>paying for windows

Same reason Apple can sell you multiple products with varying level of features.
Apple does give you HEVC for free though.
You understand on windows you don't have to download everything through the microsoft store, right? In fact, there's more software available for windows than any other OS. Some of that software was developed way back in the 90s and it can still run on modern windows, cool eh?
I...don't see how this takes away from the fact encode/decode support for H.265 is in macOS from the start. They also provide a number of expensive fonts like Avenir. Say what you will about iOS, but macOS is not bad.
I see your
'Having to take a moment to install something.'
and I raise you
'Cannot buy and install any GPU you want'
Imagine paying $1000 just to get a $0.99 codec.
>Apple does give you HEVC for free though.
because hackintoshes are a minuscule percentage of all macOS installs
It's included because it's 3 times more expensive than an average pc
It's like saying my mercedes s class has heated seats as a standard option, why can't dacia sandero have the same
Your post reminded me that BMW makes heated seats a 'subscription service'
I don’t care, still using ffmpeg and VLC for free. Also on my Mac
I can get that for free on windows 7, dunno what the problem is.
You can download it for free, it's jut names differently can't remember how it's called
You're referring to the x264 encoder/decoder that ffmpeg produces as source and is built by VideoLAN for VLC.
Europe doesn't do software patents unlike the cucked US.
No i mean this official plugin for windows so the windows apps can render hevc content

I'm not clicking that shit.
Don't make me come over there.
For all you scared homosexuals

What is HEVC even for? I've never had to download this.
Most mini-encodes on nyaa are in H.265.
Prebuilt or laptop? You can get them for free my using a prebuilt link
I only have a desktop and my work laptop
Blame the israelites that own the codec, not microsoft.
This shit is exactly why VPX and AV1 exist.
nooooooo you gotta pay the heckin royalties
It has to do with licensing fees, patents and royalties. HEVC is not free. There are dozens of companies and organizations that have been involved in it's development and there are thousands of patents. Honestly I’m surprised it’s only $1.
I've installed mine using an old win7 cd key, so I guess its better to find an your old win OS key, since you are allowed to technically use the same cd key twice, and I do believe there's a market where people are selling their once-used cd keys.
When i built my new pc, I tried to use a windows 7 and 8 key that i legally own. Neither of them worked on 11. I ended up having to buy Windows 11. Ended up with pro because fuck home editions. I really don’t care to be honest. I’ve always just bought Windows. $200 isn’t a lot of money for something I use that much.
Furthering my thought, reason i didnt go with 8 or 10 is my new cpu has ecores and neither os supports it properly. 7 wont even boot. After i got used to the new ui, I’m completely fine with 11.
>inb4 spyware
Privatezilla exists.
Imagine spending $200 on a spyware OS that can't even play videos and then spending extra time and effort to try and disable most of the "features" and configure it to a barely usable state.
Who uses window 11? Most of the money runs through PCs that run on Windows 7.
>Windows 11 costs $140
140 dollars?
what do you need 120 dollars for?
5 dollars?
All I have is a pretty penny and a VPN. My penny!
>paying for hevc
do wintards really?
You can easily get it for free
