uniqlo cotton holds up after multiple washes compared to hm/zara cotton thats made up of unused toilet paper meant for their factory street shitters

Yeah i like but don’t love uniqlo but i got a grey cotton crew neck sweater from them and am very impressed with the material. Thick and sturdy but doesn’t suffocate you

      >my low quality fast fashion cotton is better than your low quality fast fashion cotton

Get some standards ffs. You people probably never held an actual piece of clothing that uses THICK quality cotton.

i have stuff from loopwheeler and merz b schwanen, generally regarded as the highest end cotton tees/sweaters/etc in the world.
the uniqlo stuff really isn’t as far off as you would think. its clearly not on the same planet of niceness but its also the closest thing you can find in a brick & mortar shopping mall. the supima tees are nowhere near a merz b schwanen tee or even some chinese loopwheel tees, but its kind of a banger for the price and they’re nice enough that they wouldn’t look out of place in the closet of a guy like me who spends $100-200 for most of their plain tees.
the loopwheel cotton hoodies aren’t anywhere close to loopwheeler but they’re leaps and bounds ahead of anything i can find at the mall and also totally appropriate hanging next to one in my closet. fit on them is real good too.
average uniqlo product is shit, but as i said, gems.

    >Why are there so hyped
They sell extreme BASIC clothes at a very affordable price. and it’s pretty much their marketing stand point.

You want a basic tee? Uniqlo, Basic Jeans? Uniqlo, Underwear? we got it.

I buy their underwear and socks and I think I have a sweater from them, but their basic clothing is garbage. Never buy T-Shirts or pants that arent 100% cotton, OP says they seem like plastic because they ARE plastic.

their loopwheel cotton sweaters are good. the supima tees are good. all the selvedge denim’s good the non stretch stuff they stopped selling everywhere but asia is even better but. most of the stuff in the newish workwear line they started doing is good you can tell they had someone who’s actually into that stuff design it see: utility jacket for a good example. their puffer jackets are good for cheapshit but you can do better for the price on taobao. the airism/airism mesh shirts are the best synthetic undershirts on planet earth. etc.

NTA, but this seems interesting, thanks. I was thinking about hitting up a Uniqlo soon just because I haven’t been to one in so long, and it’s useful to know what stuff is(n’t) garbage.

ive gotten stuff like the helmut lang jeans, +j selvedge jeans, kaihara selvedge jeans for 3bux each it can be ross/thrift store tier deals

Very cool, I’ll be sure to take a look

They sell Supima cotton shirts for cheap which is my main draw.
Otherwise dont care for the styles they have on offer

    >like plastic
Because it IS plastic. They still have good cotton stuff though. If you’re buying plastic, it’s your own fault.

No, they dont. Thats when you wear linen.

i don’t like synthetics in hot weather. where they shine is cold wet inclement weather. if you live somewhere like say canada or norway, you can dress comfortably in all natural materials but its a lot more expensive to be not quite as comfy, & the time limit you can spend in heavy rain comfortably is much shorter. synthetics are the meta in cold rainy climates.

Sometimes I walk a lot in the summer (30°C+ here) . Synthetic blends help to not have a wet with sweat clothe for hours.

        • Anonymous says:

Yeah, same. I’m a sweaty guy, and their airism dry-ex shirts just never stick to my back no matter how saturated they get.

the majority of things uniqlo sells are cheap plastic shit but they have a few gems scattered about as well. i have le thousands and thousands of dollars of denim and these $30 uniqlos are pretty up there on my list of favorites to wear.

I wouldn’t say hyped, it’s just the cheapest you can go while still have a bare minimum of quality. Obviously there’s far better stuff if you’re willing to spend more money.

most of it’s good for manlets its not quite as good as shopping in japan but i can wear most stuff from uniqlo @ 5’6
