Why the fuck does YouTube no longer have a "Sort by oldest" option anymore? Do they expect you to scroll through thousands of videos? What do they gain by removing the sort by oldest option?

>What do they gain by removing the sort by oldest option?
Their oldest active creators being less likely to suffer the embarrassment of their first video being discovered, or the bandwidth/server space that gets wasted on every "this is where it all began" comment.
Can't they just delete the older vids if they don't want them?
Why should their mascots suffer such inconvenience?
Youtube has been deleting old content from their servers for a while now, and they don't want people to find out so they're making it harder to reach these older videos.
The uploaders are probably deleting it rather than YouTube themselves. If you want a conspiracy theory I'd bet they don't want people justifying video archival using that but it's still a stretch.
Because they supply caching servers to ISPs, and they want everybody watching the same videos to make best use of those servers and reduce their bandwidth costs.
It's probably a feature that an insignificant portion of the userbase used so they trimmed to save code or perhaps performance, who knows.
>google can't afford to reverse a list
it's over isn't it
Sell it all, anon. Playtime's over.
It doesn't fetch all videos at once to then sort. It gets them like 10 at a time from some offset. If you've done web scraping many websites work this way because its more efficient on big distributed databases. Supporting reverse sort would mean essentially keeping around a reversed index which is big given all the videos they host so they got rid of it because few use it.
> Do they expect you to scroll through thousands of videos?
They expect channels with thousands of videos to be interacted with using search, playlists, or on the uploader's website that embeds the videos.
>counting incorrectly
if the developer doesn't like maintaining a feature, he can make the numbers appear like he wants
better question is, why is there no addon to add that function back
they want you to forget
Rip the videos off the platform and stop being their hostage.
yt-dlp is your friend
>just make a hard copy of the whole youtube database, bro
Because youtube promotes new content for the sake of new content, resulting in a constant stream of low quality dogshit
pumping out videos daily is more profitable than spending time on producing high quality videos
if youtube cared about it userbase it would just be newpipe
Susan Wojcicki
not anymore
they hate old videos only want you watching new stuff just save everything you want to watch later
Because they don't want to pay creators ad revenue for old videos
To discourage you from hitting likely to be uncached data.
is there an extension that will show the most liked comments instead of the current garbage we have? like it was back in the day
They changed their policy on Google Photos storage, I wouldn't be surprised if they start charging for storing old videos without recent views.
some anons theories in previous threads that stuck with me;
>older videos harder to monetize/possibly unmonetized
>older videos harder on the server to bring up something that hasnt been requested in a long time
just use the fucking chromefirefox plugin to get it back ffs, its not hard. inb4
>>i dont use chrome or firefox
then just sort like a freetard
what's it called?
