why buy watch to "hold value" wtf is this bullshit.
Do u walk around with ur fortune attached to ur wrist so street shitters can threaten u with knife and steal ur shit??

the omega watches are boring I bought seiko one that is indistinguishable from high end omega/grand seiko unless u look very hard and it only cost me $200 and is made in japan. solar powered too so it;s better than automatic watches that need to be fixed every 3 years and are hand made by poo-stained pajeet hands in 3rdworld

I would be careful saying they are indistinguishable from other high-end watches.
Also 2k dollars Seikos look a notch below swiss ones and two notches below Grand Seikos.

My daily beater is a 600$ Seiko. It is great but it disappears when compared to something better.

buy once cry once poorfag. Have you considered that maybe one day you will want to liquidate some of your possessions for a particular goal? As opposed to buying fast fashion garbage that’s Worth nothing.

        >muh hypothetical Street mugging!!

You have never been in an altercation with a stranger before. If you’re being mugged they will take your watch regardless of how much it is because crackheads are generally not experts on horology lol. Secondly, if you have insurance and have your shit evaluated its a great way to commit insurance fraud.

High quality vintage objects depreciate in value less compare to more disposable new items.

        >You buy a 3k vintage watch, you wear it for 12 months, you sell it for 3k.

        >You buy a new $600 watch, you wear it for 12 months. You sell it for $300.

You will get more respect from more esteemed people who have a developed taste. Watches are a fantastic conversation opener for talking to professionals.

okay and? if losing 300 dollars hurts you this bad, you cant afford any watch in the first place

            You people are genuinely stupid.

I’m teaching you how to make money
From luxury purchases, as opposed to buying disposable garbage. This strategy can be applied to many things: antique furniture, classic cars, watches, leather goods, Art, etc.

          • Anonymous says:

teaching us how to make money by buying depreciating assets. sure buddy
even if u buy new rollex it’s gonna lose 40$ after a decade and u gonna feel like shit if u scratch it

          • Anonymous says:

you really don’t know what you’re talking about stupid lol

            >buys Daytona from boutique at 20k

            Instant money glitch

          • Anonymous says:

Oh sweet child, you have so much to learn… There is an entire industry of secondary market dealers, I know this because I am one.

          • Anonymous says:

            >oh nooo! How dare I make a luxury product more exclusive / desirable by inflating the price that millionaire / billionaire have to pay if they want the shiny thing!!

The whole secondary market is symbiotic with the boutiques / manufacturers, It’s apart of their market strategy.

          • Anonymous says:

Blame Rolex, buddy. They won’t sell you anything until you buy a bunch of garbage models you didn’t want, just to build a relationship with the Authorized Dealer (A.D.) to possibly get an opportunity to be offered the model you actually wanted in the first place, all over the course of several months on a waitlist. So now you have a Collection of Watches you don’t personally care about but you know someone must be waiting for a model you have, so you sell it in 2nd Market at a profit.

This luxury business strategy was engineered and was fully intentional, it creates demand and more exclusivity.

feel like you should go to /biz/ this forum is about fashion not about making money, whats the point of buying fashion item that u will never wear

          • Anonymous says:

You can wear it plenty and still make money off it. I just don’t like fast fashion and seeing people be stupid about inherently irrational purchases like luxury goods.

          • Anonymous says:

seems like too much effort and gamble for the uncertainty that it will provide u a little bit more money and u don’t even get to enjoy it. if u get mugged or scratch it, u ruined ur whole life savings in 1 minute
again and it takes shitload of time and doom scrolling watches

a better use of ur time is actually do regular job instead of that lmao
and get the $600 casio that actually looks better too and is of higher quality

I am not interested in buying that one but it does look amazing and better than rollex explorer and speedmasters that everybody already got. they are very boring. imagine being so boring u buy the same shit.
yo bro just be samegay bro this is how u get good taste

imagine thinking rollex and omega are not overpriced.

is for 1000% has less profit margins than a rollex/omega

rollexd omega probably have 1000000000% profit margins while this has 100% at best

Imagine being so stupid that you think you can express something unique with mass-produced japanese gadgets.

          • Anonymous says:

Never intended that, as I am a watch enthusiasts, not a watch snob. The funniest part is that I wear and love Japanese ones, recognising their superior value for money and where they stand.

I also have eyes, so when you put a Seiko Marinemaster besides an Omega Seamster, the difference IN REAL LIFE, NOT COMPARING FANCY PICTURES is crystal-clear but also the difference in price of course.

What is proposed here, on the other hand, is exactly the opposite.
            Overpriced design for Black folk.

lmao if u think that casio is overpirced but any other premium watch isn’t u are smoking shit
the only premium watch that could justify their cost with mental gymnistics are maybe ones made with solid gold and or rare diamonds n shit

there is literally nothing to justify stainless steel watch to cost much. Just get one u like based on looks, u are not getting a bargain here.

all u have is stainless steel parts, a piece of glass, shapred into shapes then mirror polished on some of those parts.

            1. please answer this: WHERE U THINK UR MONEY IS GOING TO HERE?

unironically would be much harder to produce than a rollex explorer. It’s just a fact

watches are very low tier form of tech, there is nothing special about them u are just getting stainless steel polished and tagged by brand.

            I had this one

in person and it looks about the same, even shiner than a rollex explorer. the rollex just look expensive due to the "Rolex" tag on it. but they are both stainless steel with saphire

this watch $200 it’s as shiny as it gets, reflect light that blinds people etc,

they probably used the same grit polish on this that they use on the grand seiko

Let me try to break it down for a layman.

A gold Casioak is overpriced af.
            A casioak is not overpriced.
Any decent Swiss watch is overpriced but also retains value and they can either being re-sold losing little-to-none money or outlive you and the next three generations of yours.

Any digital watch or basic quartz (not spring-drive, maybe not solar?) is cheap af to produce.
Basic mechanical movements such as commercial ETA are not that expensive but are far from being cheap to produce.
Any high-end mechanical watch is not cheap to produce at all since they require skilled and expensive workers.

Also, I would not consider them low-tech.
But maybe you consider a smartwatch a brilliant piece of technology, so I can only raise my hands.

I am done for the day.

stop being delusinal. mech watch are just parts. chinise mass produce them for pennies, u can buy fully functional automatic rollex from china fashion reps for $40. it’s made exactly the same stainless steel.

All u have to do is get the parts mold then mass produce the metal parts for the automatic movmeents

the gold casiooak is limited edition and only costs $20 more than the regular one

That watch is usually coupled with an old 4×4 cheap shitbox and some sort of EDC kit helping the owner carrying on his delusion of being special and adventurous during his commute to the warehouse where he works for a minimum wage.

Also gays not needing to works due to daddy money but sharing the same need for attention.

i’m not a watch guy but i assume people buy casio watches because they are cheap and decent at lower price points. not judging but why would you buy an expensive watch from a brand with that rep? the watch just tells you the time and looks cool. is the brand’s rep not a big factor in deciding to buy it?

LULZ is actually the worst for u. I hate getting addicted to it. I actually lost some money due to /biz/ advice too. what a shitty lame place
/o/ recommend dumb cars for racing gays and hate on practical SUVs,

like everything is backwards here, any idea on how to quit?
