Why is there such a big debate around prenups

Most people already know that at least 50% of marriages in the US end in a divorce so using this fact it should be a wise decision to sign a prenup.

But the majority of women are arguing that it indicates that it shows a lack of trust in the relationship. And other women are arguing that women should get half of everything in a marriage because thats how it should be.

What do you guys think?

in a lot of jurisdictions the woman can just go to court and say "I don't like this prenup that I signed" and have the judge say "yeah, that's unfair, I'm throwing it out" and the man is just as fucked over as he would have been with no prenup.

Shit like this is why I hope I get married to a woman wealthier than me because 9/10 Im not going to want to steal at least 50% of what she has.

      But thats an unrealistic standard

The courts don't really give a shit if she's wealthier, if she wants alimony from you, she gets it. Basically anything at all that's disputed in a marriage is, by law, "the man loses"

The courts only care who is wealthier.

Honestly looking through the BS its pretty obvious that the women arguing against signing a prenup just want to get half of the mans asset as most of the time this is how the situation goes as women often earn less than their husbands.

This seems pretty disturbing and messed to me personally. If I were married to a woman thats more wealthy than me I wouldnt want to take half of her stuff in divorce just because I possibly could. Its shitty that this behavior is encouraged and pushed amongst women. It only gives men more reasons to sign prenups which is to protect them from stupid divorce laws.

    1. Its 35% now, you are using a retarded boomer number
    2. Thats the number for all marriages. I know like 200 married couples or so, none of them are divorcing or have ever been divorced. I know two divorced boomers and maybe a handful of unmarried but committed long term couples, and a tiny percentage of single men and women who just dont want to marry. The number for my community is literally 3% chance of divorce. Ive been married 8 years, my parents have been married 29 years, and so on.
    3. Prenup makes sense if you are a boomer retarded idiot who waited too long and have a lot of money. Prenup for a normal marriage makes zero sense because you are probably in your early 20s and dont have a lot of money. Especially if you are planning double income. I respect the idea of securing your future, but your future should still be oriented toward a lifelong commitment to this women regardless of who else gets divorced. If you understand why you specifically need a prenup, prince cuckold, then its just like any other social contract just done on paper. I doubt you need a signature to understand that your girl wont cheat on you if shes loyal.

You dont need to watch porn or listen to PUA to understand this. Just read articles on modern relationships and the issues surrounding them.

Stop trying to jump to conclusions that everyone who doesnt have the same view as you is brainwashed

      1. Not true for all states. Some states still split the assets 50/50
      2. anecdotal evidence
      3. Say nothing new and is just regurgitating what every women against it is saying

      >the majority of women are arguing that it indicates that it shows a lack of trust in the relationship
This is just bitching over the fact that they won't be able to cheat on their betabux then take half of his shit just because. If hypothetically somehow you get into a position where you're about to marry someone and they refuse a prenup, they were never worth anything anyways.

On an unrelated note, have a cool picture of a nice looking plane.

Yeah definitely agree on this. The women arguing against this just doesnt see the situation from the mans side and it the same thing with getting a DNA test for your baby.

Men have more to lose in this situation and just want to protect from uncertainty

        35% is the statistic
        >anecdote
Anyone who believes that many marriages end in divorce is believing in an anecdote. If you think your chances of divorce are higher because some 60 year old black guy did recently, then you are too delusional to be in a marriage in the first place.
        >nothing new
Prenups are nothing new. I would just be surprised if royalty or some boomer investment banker was on here asking kids for advice on prenups

I told you the statistics and data and you would be foolish to fall for anecdotal evidence instead of having your own experiences. I have heard of some guys who werent even married by 25, the statistics for them are brutal

Youre an idiot, the reason you're seeing more boomers getting divorced is because they're older. Yeah no shit the 20 something couple thats only been married 4 years hasn't divorced yet.

Can you explain why doomers use the divorce rate for all ages but split up the age groups for sexual activity, home ownership, and income? Curious

    Mi prenup would basically say;
    >if we divorce due to regular circumstances, split everything 50/50
    >if one of the partners cheat, the faithful partner will ve entitled to 90% of all marital assets, while the unfaithful party will only be entitled to a sum of money equal to 10% of all marital assets.
I had thought of a 3rd clause, but I forgot what it was.
Is it ok? Am I retarded?

one thing i could compromise on is that, anything the couple achieves, as a couple, should be split 50/50
but anything each person achieved on their own, before or during the marriage, should be theirs and theirs only
this story of splitting everything 50/50 no matter what is bullshit, women who say this either are eyeing what a man has or are setting themselves up for failure if they're the one who owns a lot of stuff

Guys, please don't fall for the prenup meme. A prenup is a contract like any other, and it is up to a judge to interpret what the contract means. Judges can and often do throw the prenup out and declare it meaningless. The tendency in court will always be to take care of the woman at the expense of the man. Please don't get married guys.
