yeah that's probably a good idea.

Just like you cant stop eating, you can't stop having sexual needs.
You can diet and change the types of food but you can't remove it from your life.
Tldr get a gf or an active sexual life. No fap is moronic, you fap, Chad cums in pussy, there's a big difference in sexual release quality, but it's within the same category.

thing is I have a gf 🙁 yet I am still a slave to the coom

The absolute loser contrast of this situation is enough to make one cut his dick off let alone fap if he actually was concious of it. How can you fap knowing you could get pussy. You fap because you like women, right? then frick women. oh, you cant. So youre gonna cope with fapping? Pathetic. At least accept your celibate fate you fricking loser, don't half ass it with masturbation and porn.

Force the day to pass with something else just as enjoyable. Drinking, going outside in public, walking, working out for hours. Anything to make time pass until you hit the pillow.

      what would you recommend? Meditation?

The problem is that the sexual desire is produced by the own body, and dopamine, the rewarding drug, also is. Therefore you cannot get it out of the system like with other drugs. Living without sexual stimulation/satisfaction requires willpower until the desire ends, with 65 or so.
I heared that men is remote comunities, where no women show up, like monasteries, have it easier, because the drive reduces when men don't see, hear, smell a female for a longer time. But in the normal society it's impossible to escape the triggers. Porn is just the strongets trigger.

Yes, at times I envy the hermits.

There are no easy tips for this, 1 week without porn, even 1 second of it will feel like heroin. I struggle with this too, I wanna fill my time and brain with other shit because i am fricking losing my mind, but I find myself fapping all the fricking time. These pornstars looking so fricking good doesn't help either. I wonder if one day I will have the balls to push through this addiction like a motherfricker for good, and never look back.

No idea. Same boat. It's pathetic and and I'm a walking meme. Literally the only thing I've ever struggled with. Couldn't even stop as a personal challenge for like a week.

I wish you well on your quest, anons. We are truly like brothers in arms.

put a mirror besides your monitor. so you see yourself at all times and realize you should not do things you wouldn't do in front of a mirror.

This is actually a really interesting idea, I hadn't heard this one before but I can see it working. When the screen goes black while loading and I catch my own face in the reflection...truly it is as if one were staring into the abyss.

Meditation and regular study (which is... meditation), yes. It usually takes a while to find fitting meditations and good texts to study.

I quit smoking and eating junk because I recognized it was bad for me. If I ever actually encountered valid evidence that beating it to porn was bad for me I'd be able to quit. But I have no reason to so I wont.

What you're not giving up is lust. And you don't give up lust because you're yet to realise that lust keeps you away from God.

what should I start with for my study? The Bible?

The Bible contains a few deliberate mistranslations and is widely misunderstood and misinterpreted, it's no beginner's material. You're better off learning the basics of Hebrew before even considering the translations, because in the case of Torah, studying the translations makes it more difficult to get to studying the original.

I'd say start with talks by Buddhists that seem both a bit plain, understandable, and basically moral, e.g. that don't talk wishy-washy stuff like "spirituality", instead they talk about things which sound super basic like emotion or joy. That, or Stoic writings, and for a quick impression it will also be useful to look at e.g. readings, expositions of them in video or audio recordings. And look into Japanese Buddhism if you're learning Japanese or consume lots of Japanese media.
Then look a step beyond those materials and see what the books/writings that they refer to are like.

Keep in mind that while they may share worthwhile things with you, it is not necessarily so that their path would also be yours, e.g. you don't have to "become a Buddhist" or "become a Stoic" to study from or with them for the time being.

There are also worthwhile things from the Indian nation but they are usually not a great "character fit" for European or American people, for example, I find Sadhguru to be not only a quack but also annoying.

As to Westernized Buddhism, there is Suzuki Roshi's school in America with the book "Beginner's Mind" (archive.org) and talks on YouTube, and there is Plum Village in France which puts out a lot of materials in English, and then there are actual Western Buddhists (e.g. European natives, European or mixed Americans, who are ordained) from all kinds of Buddhist lineages. I'm really not a "Greek Stoicism-person" so I don't have specific advice on that.

Lastly you can discard all original materials by sources that ask you for patronship or charity (Patreon / Co-Fi etc.). Same goes in language learning and other fields of life that are of personal importance btw.

Dead thread, putting my two cents:

I like porn a lot. I can honestly tell you cooming is one of the most enjoyable activities for me. If I were immortal or just rich and set for life, I would not stop fricking my hand (or real women since I can pay for it) in increasingly creative ways.
This is not an addiction, this is a conscious choice. I've always preferred instant pleasure over having to work or doing unpleasant things, is that so hard to imagine? Why make it into an addiction like if it were fentanyl? If you call it an addiction you break free from your responsibility, you can play the helpless victim to some horrible problem beyond your control, but it isn't. You will never experience withdrawal from not jerking off (is that slight sense of discomfort when you don't tug your wiener what withdrawal is?) Don't kid yourself, this is a conscious lifestyle choice... And that's alright. If it feels good and it's easy to get, why the frick not? You're not hurting anyone other than yourself (debatable).
So what's the issue then? If it feels so great why is it a problem?
It depends of who you are, really. But for me it comes down to two things: this is literally an unsustainable lifestyle AND I want to do other things with my limited time and resources. I don't even need to renounce porn, I just need to consoom in moderation.
I've dropped any "heroic" or higher callings of purpose. It's a personal choice of mine to accept my place in history as an average person doing nothing trascendental. Why would I make pleasure an enemy of mine? I'm not a fricking monk and I don't want to be. I want to just b myself.

    In short:
-Stop calling it an addiction and accept your responsibility
-Focus on the reasons why you want to quit in the first place
-Don't make an enemy out of pleasure, it's not a binary tug of war between extremes. Just cut down on it gradually
    It really is that simple.

Pleasure actually is bad for you lol. God has been giving me therapy and its main focus has been denial of pleasure. He seems to be doing it to many people right now. It is not hard to imagine that not having what you want does something to you. It is torture, lol. Doesnt seem like we have much of a choice considering he is the girl lol. Hes not going to let us have sex and hes gonna make us watch him sucking chads penis.

Were in a world ruled by money and genes and the threat of being stabbed to death is very real, assuming your dinner doesnt kill you first. This place seems totally godless because of its cruelty, but its not. We are in the bodies of animals and god is using it to give us pain. Its fact at this point, although many will not believe it, no matter how much proof he gives us. God is mysterious and prefers to do things without anyone knowing about it. Hes like some sick voyeurist. He likes to watch.

with smoking/drinking, you have to physically go to the store or bar and purchase those.
with fapping, all you need to do is reach into your pants.
it's ease of access combined with a biological urge to reproduce. also, fapping doesn't give you smoker's cough or hangovers, so the negatives aren't as obvious.

anyway, for tips? stop being lazy, for one. stop finding excuses.
    >omg, ugh...i'm so helpless!!! i opened up chrome and accidentally pressed P on my keyboard, and now it's suggesting pornhub
    >ugh...what will i do?? i guess i'll just watch porn
    >omg...i'm on the computer again...i guess it's time to open up the internet and see what happens. teehee.
    >ugh! i spent another night watching porn! what's wrong with me??
    >oof, ugh..i was looking at my history to see what a disappointment i am, and i accidentally clicked on the porn i watched last night!! i'd better watch it again to see if i can resist the urge to fap
    >heh, whoops, my pants are off again

all you have to do is stop. just stop visiting porn sites. stop fapping.
stop making a habit out of that.

It's not an addiction. The idea of a porn addiction is an excuse people create for themselves so they don't need to move forward in life. for example
    >ahhh i'm not successful enough in my career... because of ... um MY PORN ADDICTION
reality: you don't want to work harder, or take a look at the skills you need to develop to be more successful at your career, so you say you're addicted to pornography so you don't have to change anything

    >ughhh im so lonely and inept at talking to women. It's because i'm addicted to porn
reality: you're afraid of getting hurt by other people or getting rejected, so instead of trying to form connections with people, you say you're addicted to porn so you don't have to change anything.

    etc.
