He only adopted pan-Africanism after his pan-Arabist ambitions fell flat. Yet, most discussions about him focus on his pan-Africanism.

too stupid to be an arab, too prosperous to be african... maybe he should have tried to be italian
Because his Pan-African advocacy lead to the creation of the African Union, while his Pan-Arab advocacy failed to create a union with Egypt or Tunisia
>Because his Pan-African advocacy lead to the creation of the African Union, while his Pan-Arab advocacy failed to create a union with Egypt or Tunisia
The Organisation of African Unity has already been a thing for decades before and the Treaty of Abuja creating the Economic Union is also older than his advocacy. He jumps on bandwagons, tries to take em over and when he fails he bails.
He never bailed on Pan-Africanism
Crazy how a med created african unity
Gaddafi constantly changed his whole thing every few years. Truly one of the biggest morons of world leaders.
He never stopped being an anti-colonialist. He just stopped advocating for Arab unity when he saw the Arab world trend towards conservative capitalism
No, he stopped going after the Arab unity thing when all the Arab nations told him to frick off. And he quit on the United States of Africa idea after the African countries told him to frick off.
He was a flamboyant failure.
He stopped going after Arab unity because
1. Sadat made peace with Israel
2. Tunisia didn't want to share power
United States of Africa won't have worked, but the African Union is much more sensible.
He was IQfy, and nothing else matters.
>Why is Gaddafi remembered
He isn’t.
Because it's easy bait for tankies. They'll suck the dick of anything that goes against American interests, no matter the actual intent or result.
Not everything revolves around you amerilard.
Its still true.
People will fellate every single massively moronic tin pot dictatorship for being "anti-imparialist" (commie speak for when the west does things I don't like)
>"anti-imparialist"
>commie speak
How can you still be locked in such a cold war rhetoric? The rest of the world barely cared back then and certainly don't give a crap now. On the contrary in the case of Gaddafi it was discussed from a european point of view, necessity or not, consequences, etc, but not from a east/west antic point of view. For example here many think the french president wanted to kill an embarassing witness.
Because the former got him shot.
I love him so much, bros.
