Why I no longer pity balding dudes

I was a Norwood 5-6 only eight months ago, and now I’m a Norwood 1 from only the Big 3 (fin 1mg daily, min 5% twice daily, keto shampoo twice weekly).

I’ve seen first-hand that the Big 3 works if you’re perfectly consistent and disciplined with it. I also know that consistency and discipline are rare qualities. I’ve seen it in so many ways — guys saying they’re following a skincare or lifting routine, for instance, but skipping days here, skipping days there, while still swearing up and down that they’re following a routine.

Let’s suppose a $5 tablet were developed that could completely restore hair overnight. Let’s suppose we had some way of knowing the tablet to be perfectly safe and effective. How many whining bald men would hop into their cars and drive to the pharmacy the day it became available? I don’t think very many. They’d wait at least a few days, maybe a few weeks. After all, what’s a few more days? What’s a few more weeks? And that’s true enough, but the point is the sloppy mentality, the lack of drive, the lack of impetus.

Men like me who regrow our hair completely are men with force of character who act with gusto and firmness and bend reality to our wills. The moment I read about finasteride and minoxidil, I made an appointment with my doctor to get a finasteride prescription THAT VERY DAY. I went to the pharmacy, collected my finasteride from the pharmacist, grabbed some minoxidil 5% from the shelves, and started my routine THE MINUTE I WALKED THROUGH MY APARTMENT DOOR.

This reads like a r/tressless post, those spastics hate their lives yet are so deathly afraid of fin and oral min side effects they will let their shit get to NW6 before starting treatment.

This dude don’t know Kevin… Who gonna tell him? Who else gonna read him all the facts that have been out for decades with numerous studies?

Why is every anti-finasteride shill a giant fat heck with b***h tits? Reminds me of this b***h saying how Lion’s Mane gave him post-finasteride syndrome despite never even taking finasteride. Also he’s taken tons of drugs, has royally hecked his hormones up with various creams, and eats shit for food more than likely.

Even if PFS is real I don’t give a shit. If anything Finasteride raised my T and made me angry as heck. If it gets that bad you can take estrogen to round out those man tits a little more and get men and ugly women to dribble their head like a basketball on your girl cock. It’s said after all that PFS hecks with progesterone which is important for muh neuro-steroids and happiness. Troons get progesterone prescribed more easily too. Let’s be honest, we’re all here for you to be your best self.

Huh? If you’re not balding, then it’s pretty presumptuous to speak for how balding guys should be feeling. If you are balding and are as confident about it as you claim, then you should have no difficulties posting your mug.

    • Anonymous says:

Yeah honestly its hecking annoying for both sides, yes you’re going bald accept it and move on, and yes dudes go bald due to genetics, stop with the low bar ego boosting its childish.

      • Anonymous says:

Exactly. Of course I would’ve liked to not go bald and keep my straw-like hair, but genetics is what is. Can’t change that. But what I can change is how I act in the face of those facts, and I choose to not be a crybaby. I feel better for just accepting it, and women respond well also when I tell them "yeah I saw my hair thinning and just buzzed it off."

good for you, you’re a hyperresponder, the majority of men aren’t. do you really think that all the desperate guys who are taking dut and rubbing spironolactone on their scalps just aren’t disciplined enough? that all the hollywood actors whose careers literally revolve around their appearance are getting hair transplants because they couldn’t be bothered to take a pill once a day? i have no sympathy for baldies who sperg out about fin/min being LE POISON when they haven’t even tried it, but acting as if it’s a miracle cure is equally ridiculous. going from a nw6 to a nw1 is the absolute best-case scenario and very few people are going to be that lucky

nah, I agree with op: most men are quitters.
look at the baldness general on this board.
bunch of dudes whining about having to use topical minoxidil every day.
I doubt it’s a coincidence that literally every balding man I’ve known who was active at the gym for years on end and who started using finasteride and minoxidil had incredible regrowth results.
the only thing they all had in common was proven self-discipline.

      • Anonymous says:

This is true. I lucked out finding minoxidil at the thrift store for $5 not knowing it was actually $50-70. It produced visible results in a month which dermarolling did not after 4 months.

        >look at the baldness general on this board.
        >bunch of dudes whining about having to use topical minoxidil every day.
Yeah, I don’t understand that. I tend to be quite lazy when it comes to physical effort and, for instance, struggle immensely with sticking to exercise routines, but slapping on minoxidil twice a day is nothing.

It seems that the potential negative side effects of using finasteride are largely blown out of proportion by a vocal minority of certain people. Why is this? When taking fin you aren’t actually blocking testosterone production and you still have testosterone at your normal levels.

    • Anonymous says:

fin can cause negative side effects but i think the schizo "post-finasteride syndrome" shit comes from
      >most guys who talk about fin on the internet are in their mid-20s
      >mid-20s are when shit lifestyles will start catching up to libidos
      >"watching porn constantly, never exercising, and eating like shit gave me ED" requires taking personal responsibility and making lifestyle changes, "big pharma gave me ED and it’s PERMANENT" does not

The 90% for whom this works won’t post about this online. It’s just normal life for them and they don’t think about balding anymore.

    • Anonymous says:

i think the actual study results for sexual side effects put them at 13-15% of all users, which is a lot tbh. that’s not blown out of proportion.

The 90% for whom this works won’t post about this online. It’s just normal life for them and they don’t think about balding anymore.

90% is not a lot when it comes to medication, especially when the remaining 10% have sexual side effects.

I’ve noticed that a lot of women have worse hairlines than me (NW2). I’ll not slack off on my routine, but it gave me confidence to see that I’m not hecked up completely.

now THIS is a real post. i have seen god awful hairlines on many women, but they just were like this always. starting really far up and further behind than any acceptable male hairline would. they were physically fit and had acceptable faces, and as such quite a few men would procreate with them, dooming their offspring, rigging the game from the start. gotta post the classic here.

      • Anonymous says:

Thats just female balding. A similar amount of women start thinning and receeding like men. Theres just an entire industry dedicated to concealing and reversing it versus the male side, plus its literally death to be a bald women so all steps are taken

          • Anonymous says:

What can I expect from min? I’m 97 days on fin, I’m only thinning at the front, it’s only visible if I pull my hair back, but it’s bothering me even on fin because it looks like the thinning parts are the ones designated to be lost in the future.
Could I expect to recover baseline density in an area with maybe 60% hair density?

            https://i.imgur.com/XFAnMM9.jpg

Just a few of my examples

Brutal. Is this a product of excessive hair treatment like dying, perms etc.?

          • Anonymous says:

Probably something but you should go 6-8 months with fin only first, up to a whole year. The goal isn’t to take/use as much medication as possible. Quite the opposite. It also sounds like you’re somewhere in NW2 territory, which is far from it "being over", especially since you’ve already started the most important treatment. Growing hair just takes time.

PCOS can make women develop female pattern hair loss. Especially unlucky women with other endocrine issues can get male pattern hair loss.

          • Anonymous says:

Though I had great results with min I do regret getting stuck in the trap for years. You should only be using it once you have decided against fin and want to give yourself a few extra years before shaving it off. My hair texture started getting dry and coarse after 3 years, and a lot of unwanted growth on my face. Please treat min as a temporary concealer, it was never intended for prolonged use

          • Anonymous says:

fin did nothing for my hair thinning (and idk if i want to try minox)
actually on that topic, once you stop using minox thats it right? even if you have 0 testosterone or dht in your system you need tu use it aww the time to have regrowth?

also thinking of getting a hairline alteration (to get my frontotemporal recesses filled in)

    • Anonymous says:

      >fin did nothing for my hair thinning
Not even slow it down? Because that’s usually what people can expect from it.
      >actually on that topic, once you stop using minox thats it right
It’s like fin. Once you begin, you have to keep going. If you stop, the process resumes.

I still have my hair with no loss, recession or thinning. I can’t grow facial hair so I don’t expect ai’ll ever need it but I read these threads to see what I should do if I ever begin losing it. Thanks boys

When I started noticing thinning, I started taking photos of my hairline once a month. After about 9 months, I realized the thinning was real and I wasn’t just imagining it. I went to a doctor to get my blood tested and, when everything came back fine, went to a dermatologist to get a finasteride prescription. I’m only a month in so I can’t testify to the results yet.

      • Anonymous says:

        >Not even slow it down? Because that’s usually what people can expect from it.
oh sorry i should have been more specific. it totally stopped thinging, but it did nothing for regrowth. i ended up trooning out so i dont even know if i need to continue taking it since my natural testosterone is so low, but i do anyway.

if you think that swallowing a pill and taking a shower daily are herculean feats of mental fortitude, then sorry to say but you still have a weak mind.
also you’re effectively a tranny with all those hormone altering substances you’re gulping down daily, and will be for the rest of your life, pharma slave

        • Anonymous says:

fin can potentially lead to regrowth but it’s not a guarantee, min is the only thing that will almost guaranteed regrrow hair (topical doesn’t work for a lot of people because you need a specific liver enzyme that a lot of guys don’t have, you can either add tretinoin to it to make it metabolize or go with oral min)

          • Anonymous says:

i probably wont bother, min seems so dodgy to me and yeah my hairs thinned but it went from god locks to normal so its not a total end of the world

          • Anonymous says:

bro you don’t have to take min but you’ve got great hair and if you don’t take fin you will inevitably keep balding until your hair is disgusting enough that it’s at shave-it-off territory. you can do what you want but i promise that you do not want to be balding

          • Anonymous says:

im still on fin, but im genuinely not sure if i need it any more because my testosterone is so low, but ive heard dht conversion still happens with low t levels so im just staying on it anyway. its not like i get any of the side effects except headaches when i started it

My facial hair, armpit hair, body hair and pubic hair is all very soft, fine, and not wiry. When I grow my mustache out, it is like the hair on my head. I don’t know if I necessarily want a soft beard but this is good to know

    • Anonymous says:

I don’t think facial hair has much correlation tbh, I’m a NW4 and still can’t grow a non-patchy beard. The only way to tell is genetics – if men in your family are bald, you’re probably going to go bald at some point

nice attempt at reverse uno, redneck, but OP obviously triggered a nerve with you, probably because you never follow through on anything

  12. Anonymous says:

I was a very early norwood 2 so starting in September 2021 I began taking finasteride. To this day I only take 2mg a week, I’ve had zero side effects, and my receding hairline had completely reversed within 6 months.
I’m incredibly lucky – I’m extremely receptive to finasteride with ostensibly none of the side effects, and I am cognizant of the fact that many men may not be so lucky.
I think that if you’re balding and you care, you should at least consider finasteride without blindly joining the cult of finasteride hatred.

    • Anonymous says:

Fills me with hecking rage how everyone on here claims to have complete reversal just by sniffing a fin pill once a month.
For 18 months I have taken 3mg finasteride a day, every single day, from 3 different brands, one pill every 4 – 6 hours. It has done NOTHING for my hair, my crown has only gotten worse despite fin supposedly working best there, I cannot accept I’m just an enigma who fin doesn’t work for because I predicted this would happen. When I found out you can take a hecking pill to stop and maybe even reverse hairloss I couldn’t believe it, more so that people thought it was a difficult decision. Side effects? Did not give the slightest heck, so long as it worked, but it didn’t. No sides, no results, nothing, hecking end me God you sick deranged bastard.

      • Anonymous says:

Holy heck thats more fin than prostate cancer patients are taking.
As someone moderately versed in anti androgens, may I suggest trying dutasteride instead of fin?
Its basically fin on super roids in terms of how well it blocks dht conversion.

      • Anonymous says:

Fin "only" reduces scalp DHT by 40%, dut by 50%.
That’s enough to stop/reverse hair loss for 90% of people. Even if it got worse, it would’ve been much worse without fin because your hair loss seems so aggressive.
Your options are taking dut + topical anti antrogens, like topical dut or RU58841. Oral or topical min will only buy you time, because the underlying cause, DHT, seems to be not addressed sufficiently, but they make things look better. Maybe add a hair transplant and you might keep your hair to an age where going bald won’t be as bad anymore.
