I actually tought about it this week, they could go to conmebol in preparation for 2026, since they're already gonna play it. But that sounds like a good idea so they're not gonna do it

Current mexico is Colombia tier, and they didn't qualify.

Chile, which is currently shit, would wreck them. Why would they do something so stupid

This , euros dont realize how tiny their countries are, going from Tijuana to Cancún alone Is the distance of London to turkey, México city to buenos aires Is like going from Madrid to Mozambique, frick outta here

Not saying its the only reason, sure money plays a big part, any mexican NT irrelevant semen slurper in the Dallas cowboys stadium Will make a 10 times More money than México vs Brazil in Maracaná, and prolly 1000 times More against teams like Bolivia or fricking Venezuela, also its comfy walking ticket into the WC (even if this morons have managed to almost frick It Up in recent times) a ticket that gives shit tons of revenue not only to our federation but ti FIFA as a whole

I should imagine CONMEBOL would- if they already haven't- reject their application outright.

The main issue would be travel costs. South America is a big damn continent and at least half of it would be traveling the equivalent of the Atlantic ocean to play in Mexico, and vice versa.

travel distance + wanting to have a say in your confederation + sweet sweet dollars

They were a regular invitee up until 2015 or so and then they just couldn't agree on the money. I'm not sure how much impact it really made for mexico since they always sent a shitty team over.

Now that the Euros has a twenty-four team format, at least 2 or 3 of those spots should go to invitations to teams from the North American or Asian confederations. The likes of Korea, Japan, Mexico, USA or Canada need to play serious international football every couple of years if they want to actually improve, not just every four years.

It would piss off the midtier teams here. They should play in Copa America. Conmebol doesn't have enough teams. They could invite six per tourney and do four four team groups.

The way Copa America was done in 2016 is ideally how it should always be held, 16 teams from North and South America

Real answer. Grupo Pachuca (one of the owners of the Pachuca, a team in Liga MX) works with some of Commebol and they have invited Mexico multiple times to join them in the Libertaddores, Copa America and such, but thats just one owner wanting to go back.
The others owners see more money with their games in USA, which they do frequently, and so they don't want to leave. Concacaf too doesn't want that, as Mexico is really the second best market in the whole region, so having only USA, Canada and Costa Rica would be a bigger joke.
Overall, the owners see the domestic and the USA tours good enough and without really having to improve the teams, and so, they keep for themself.

This. Televisa owns the biggest club in Mexico and they’re backed by Grupo Caliente (Tijuana) and TV Azteca who has interests (and votes) from 5 different clubs (Mazatlán, Atlas, Santos, Puebla and Querétaro) - that’s 7 votes. 9 if you count Necaxa and Juarez since they’re de facto owned by gringos. They essentially control Liga MX. Supposedly the president opened an investigation into Liga MX but so far it has been a nothingburger. The good guys:

Mexico used to be a regular in libertadores and copa america. I feel like some of you guys don't know that or being ignorant about this. Mexico reached the finals of liberatdores with tigres back in like 2016 or so and lost to river. Only one meixcan team has claimed glory in south america, pachuca 2001 against colo-colo at home. Chile got BTFO'd in fantastic fashion. Pachuca can at least say they've won something worth a damn.

What for? You homosexuals talk like conmebol was uefa tier but it is a corrupt shithole ran by huezilians and argenmorons. Besides what could we learn from a place that only knows how to play murderball? Those poor bastards play on 50 year old fields for frick sake. The only place that could help us improve is Europe. So I rather wait until the US gets good at football. Even if that takes a millennia than downgrading to commiepoor.

unironically CAF has been developing a lot better than the whole American continent. Mostly because of France. But yeah I would rather play with Black folk than sudacas.

I don't give shit. The true is no one is willing to travel to a communist shithole to play against el arsenal de chacarita. In fact the only ones who would benefit is you homosexuals because for once you would have money to pay your players a proper salary.
So the anwser is no. Frick conmebol. There's nothing there but muderball and poverty.

This. Once the U.S. and MLS gets serious, we will start seeing improvement in the region. Jamaica, Suriname, Costa Rica, El Salvador & Honduras will get better with their dual nats.

I think MLS is on its way. USL has been picking up steam as a feeder league, and attendance numbers are higher, on average, than the NBA. For instance, Portland Timbers consistently outdraw the Trailblazers
