Why does modern rap lack a single icon, someone so big that you can just namedrop them and near 100% of the population will know the name? The 80's had MC Hammer, Run D.M.C, Rakim, Big Daddy Kane while the 90's had 2Pac, Biggie, Dr Dre, Ice Cube and the 2000's had Kanye, Eminem, Lil Wayne but what does modern rap have? Kenny Lamlams? Drake? A thousand Lil something something?

        >lists their most famous rappers that the whole new generation knows and they're iconic
        >WHO?!?!
lmao the problem is not that modern rap has any famous rappers but that you keep sucking the old generation balls

If you asked a random 50 year old lady at the grocery store who those people were she would look at you like you are retarded.

          >steaming numbers
Complete retard take. MC Hammer made rap crossover to white middle America, Can't touch this had a bigger lasting impact on the rap industry than all of Drake's music combined.

that one song that MC Hammer did isn't even rap.. you could say The Weeknd makes rap and in that case he's a bigger artist of this generation than all your iconic 90s rappers. Ask people if they know one song of Rakim, or even Tupac, of course they heard of him but they don't know shit about his music. Is that what you take for "iconic"? Who the fuck listen to Ice Cube?
