Now because astronomers suck at computers, a full lensing model of a galaxy cluster, including uncertainty distribution, can weigh 10 GB easily, and I'm trying to do statistical things on tens of these. That's hunderds of gigs on this one project, let alone OS, data for other projects, observational data (which our uni's tiny, 40 cm telescope produced 4 or 5 TB of in the past 2 years)
A 2TB SSD is $60, a 4TB HDD is $80, there's literally no excuse unless you're a pajeet ihomosexual.

I got about 1tb of music, videos, pictures & just general browsing over the years (reaction images, webpages of various shit like threads on LULZ, etc...) screenshots & i do my best that all my media is the best quality possible so that means grabbing the 4k versions or ripping/downloading flac & this is after taking a whole ass month of constant deleting & going through all my stuff to rid of anything that didn't really have a purpose just taking up space, before it used to be closer to 2/3tbh.
At the rate that i collect my stuff specifically music i won't need more than a 2tb nvme for the foreseeable future.

But ultimately, piracy is gonna save you tons of money over being a paystream cuck even if you buy TBs worth of storage, and it gives you actual options.
