No, Ivan, there's never been a moment in Russia's history where it wasn't an authoritarian corrupt shithole. LEAST OF ALL under Yeltsin.

Wanna know the difference between Pinochets Chile and Yeltins Russia?

Only in Russia did the neoliberal project went the whole way

      Westoids did it on purpose.
For Americans the Cold War was never an ideological battle between capitalism vs Communism, it was about getting rid of a rival superpower that threatened to overtake them.
Russia’s transition to capitalism could have been like Japan’s after WWII.
Imagine Japan but much, much larger, with many more resources and a bigger population.
They would quickly catch up and threaten America’s hegemony again.
A smooth transition to capitalism therefore did not suit the true purpose of the neolibs.
No, Russia would have to be turned into a corrupt kleptocratic shithole instead so that it couldn’t challenge America again.
Cue shock doctrine and the results that we still see today, Russia remains a kleptocratic shithole that bleeds population although Putin is based for making things a bit better and his war against Ukraine is also based because it’s about fighting back against the NATO-led world order.
      Godspeed Rusbros, smash globohomo!

Putin is the West's Frankenstein monster designed to keep Russia a backwards shithole. You're fucking stupid if you think the literal glowie gangster and his mobster pals have made anyone in Russia's lives better but their own.

Objectively Russia has gotten better under Putinist rule.
I realise the entire world is in full war propaganda mode right now but Russia today is significantly less of a shithole than it was in the 1990s. That's just the truth.

Too bad you have zero comparative statistics to back up these claims because any measure will show you that Russia now is better than Russia in the 90s.
            >But Nigeria!
Consider just how much of a shithole Russia in the 1990s was for a second that even being Nigeria tier represents a massive improvement.

Most Russians agree that you could have put anyone in there and the same would have happened. Look at how the russian economy had lackluster growth in his second term

If Putin is a Western puppet why did the entirety of the Western MSM mobilize to portray him as the next Hitler when he invaded Ukraine?
Or is Putin a Western that has “gone rogue”, please share your conspiracy theories with us.

Putin was KGB. He's a monster of Soviet and communist making. The West isn't responsible for communists creating degenerate people like him. People like you are.

Intervention was floated at the highest levels, but was decided against because it was deemed to have likely made the situation far worse. Especially since the population was still heavily anti-American thanks to Soviet propaganda.

      > that threatened to overtake them
Ah, yes, the economic prosperity of the USSR in 1945.
      >with many more resources and a bigger population
Neither of those were the rate-limiting factor for Japan. They could just buy whatever they needed and never sustained productivity near American levels. Indeed, Russia requires foreign technology and capital even to extract its resources, and has for decades.
      >Russia’s transition to capitalism could have been like Japan’s after WWII.
Japan was capitalist before the war. Most of their relevant institutions/legal framework continued intact after the war; they weren't creating market mechanisms out of nothing like the Russians had to
      > would have to be turned into a corrupt kleptocratic shithole
It was that before the collapse. Other than Gorby, there was hardly any turnover in management personnel.
      >shock doctrine
Shock therapy worked west of Russia, and was the only real option.
      > Putin is based for making things a bit better
Putin was handpicked by Yeltsin as his successor.

A: The West didn't intervene in the 1991 crisis either, because we aren't retards who think that we can intervene in Russia and have a realistic chance of winning.

B: They were commies actively trying to undermine an elected government.

Bc russia had nukes. Having nukes is like having a gun in a fistfight. It's basically over. You can't do anything towards the other guy. Also, russia always has been a shithole so nothing will ever change that. Proabbaly genetic or cukture at this point.

That looks based. More Russians should have died for forcing Eastern Europe to live under the horrors of communism. Thank god Yeltsin was president.

Yes, but at that point it was too late or inpossible to intervene, and it’s not like the West was worried either way as long as commies didn’t end up winning, Free markets will fix everything, you know?

I mean the less rivals one gets the better. I guess that was the rationale, the west was living it up.
If the chinese started shooting at eachother in beijing and the their whole plan collapsed tommorrow like fuck would the U.S help them. They'd just look on and laugh.
