to be fair, we totally forgot about you and your need to be spoonfed opinions, sorry about that, mate, your email probably got mixed up somewhere in the aphex twin noob mailing list.
a lot of aphex's stuff has a classical "song" structure if you look past the sonic idiosyncrasies, especially in the 90's. and even later when he "exploded" the form, it was still based on solid classical foundations.

minipops67 is a much better aphex pop song than windowlicker. i don't know if it was the lack of a video to promote it or if it was too sophisticated or leftfield to get some cultural traction, but i'm surprised the song never blew up beyong being the syro opening track and that it still feels like a slept-on aphex hidden gem track.

just listened to it. nowhere near the beauty and immediate likeability of windowlicker, but still more enjoyable than the vast majority of this guy's "music". seems the rest of syro is better than most of his stuff too, first time I'm hearing it, I'm on "produk 29 [101]". the only other tracks I really dig from RDJ are Tha, Xtal, and Fingerbib. almost everything else is I've heard from him is either pretentious math-techno or needlessly abrasive d&b. not a fan.

i don't hear a lot of beauty in windowlicker. it doesn't sound good to my ears from a production point-of-view, kind of digitally over-produced and harsh. i like the middle section and i don't hate the overall song but overall to me it's very over-rated.
