Why did Muhammad classify Adam as a prophet? It's pretty clear that he didn't know what he was talking about, he didn't understand what the office of prophethood even is. Lol Islam is one giant misunderstanding of Judaism and Christianity.

Adam was the first person to worship God.
Okay, but that's not what a prophet is or does, so how is that relevant?
You are an idiot.
>Literally spoke to God, was taught the law by God, and taught his descendants (everyone) to worship God and follow the law too.
How was he not a prophet exactly?
Aren't prophets I Islam supposed to be perfect or is Muhammad just a special case? Because Adam literally got kicked out of the garden so he must've been a shitty prophet
Adam ate the fruit on purpose because otherwise he would be separated from Eve and man could never exist. He had to do it.
Well I just CTRL F'd adam in a quran and that sounds completely wrong
7|19|And said, “O Adam! You and your wife dwell in Paradise – therefore eat from it from wherever you wish, and do not approach this tree for you will become of those who transgress.”
Eve ate the fruit first, Adam had to take one for the team or none of us would have been born.
They were clearly together in the verse, are you saying sex was illegal?
Eve ate the fruit, Eve was going to be kicked out of the garden.
At that moment Adam had to make a decision, stay in the garden (and man never exists) or to eat the fruit also.
So a prophet can sin if they're 'taking one for the team'? that sounds moronic. And where does it say Eve ate it first? (Don't cite Torah since you say it's corrupt)
Absolutely. How many people did Moses kill? If a sin is necessary for the divine plan then it's the duty of a prophet to get it done.
>. And where does it say Eve ate it first?
Have you read Genesis? Clearly not.
>When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.
That's stupid on so many levels, did Allah tell Adam it's okay to sin to let humans exist? If Adam were an infallible prophet he'd just have let Eve die without sinning himself, just ask Allah to make another one.
Also I told you not to cite the Torah, unless you admit it's not corrupt?
But since you did explain why Adam didn't just stop Eve, unless he got overpowered by a woman
>[Adam,] who was with her, and he ate it
I'm a Latter Day Saint, not a Muslim. I'm just in agreement that Adam was a prophet, though prophets are not necessarily sinless (and that's often what God is counting on).
>But since you did explain why Adam didn't just stop Eve, unless he got overpowered by a woman
Men did not have authority over women until after the fall, again read Genesis
>16 To the woman he said,
>“I will make your pains in childbearing very severe;
>with painful labor you will give birth to children.
>Your desire will be for your husband,
>and he will rule over you.”
Well this thread has nothing to do with mormonism so lol ok
yeah but they except adam was a prophet. Why deny adam as a prophet? What makes a prophet?
I don't know of anything in the Bible indicating that Adam had a very good relationship with God, which is something that all prophets need. He could've been though since Jesus said Abel was the first prophet whose blood was shed, and we know Abel had a good relationship with God

But he wasn't a prophet. That's not what a prophet is. Prophecy was a specific office in ancient Israel that began with Moses and ended with Malachi.
>Prophecy was a specific office in ancient Israel that began with Moses and ended with Malachi.
This is not what israelites believe. Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob are prophets according to the Talmud, and there were also gentile prophets like Job.
>Islam is one giant misunderstanding of Judaism and Christianity.
Absolutely agreed
>Why did Muhammad classify Adam as a prophet?
Probably because Adam talked to God.
Prophets in Islam make sense because they don't commit adultery, idol worship, incest, etc.
>Lol Islam is one giant misunderstanding of Judaism and Christianity.
That's true elsewhere as well; at one point in the Quran, Muhammed gets two figures with similar names from the Old Testament mixed up. But that's part of Islam's origin story; it emerged in a region that had various religious practices (Christian, israeli and indigenous/pagan), and Muhammed, who was a brilliant warlord and politician though not necessarily a religious thinker, took the stories and names that everyone around him would have recognized and mashed them together into a cohesive religious narrative.
For me? Its the mixing up of Bible narratives:
Mary mother of Jesus being the sister of Aaron brother of Moses
A Samaritan building the Golden Calf when Moses was getting the tablets
>A Samaritan building the Golden Calf when Moses was getting the tablets
What's this one? I know of the Mary one but haven't heard of this
The guy who built the Golden Calf is named As-Samiri "the Samaritan"
Quran 20:85
>Allah said, “We have certainly tested your people in your absence, and Sāmiri has led them astray.”
Al-Samiri doesn't 100% mean the Samaritan, but it probably does.
Aaron was the golden calf man in the Bible, but obviously he is a prophet in Islam and can do no wrong; so the Samiri does it.
If the Samiri is a Samaritan, then it mirrors the biblical story about Jeroboam the Samaritan who also built a golden calf centuries after the Exodus.
Samaritans only became a thing way after the Exodus and Samaria only became a thing even fruther afterwards.
>he didn't understand what the office of prophethood even is
what is a prophet then?
