They didn't have population to pull off something like that. So they instead sticked to pillaging shit. They weren't some great conquerors capable of creating lasting legacy, they were glorified mercenaries that acted like Christian ISIS while being on French paycheck
The Swedish army at the time was majority mercenaries, bankrolled by France. I don't see them wanting to back a country that would rival them as European great power.
