Why can't they make a good car?

Their cars are flooded in every unreliability list there is. Wtf is their problem?

They can make a good car if Mazda tells them how to.

I dont think Ford ever made a diesel V10. The triton gas V10 was extremely solid though, slurped fuel but I'd take it over a 3v 5.4 or 6.0/6.4 any day.

              Anonymous

you uh, you do realize the 6.8 is a 5.4 with an extra v tacked on right? same exact bore and stroke, same exact cc per cylinder, same exact pistons, rods, head design (spark plug launcher), valvetrain, vvt system (3v), etc. the only difference in design is the shitty split pin crank that snaps nearly immediately with any notable power increase.

Different (higher volume) oil pump though, which is really the only issue that the 3v 5.4 had besides the stripped spark plug holes (easy fix with a kit.) The 3v 5.4 would have gone down in history as a great engine if they had increased the oil pump volume when they increased the deck height and added the variable valve timing. The only real reason the can phasers nuke themselves is oil pressure related when the engine tolerances start opening up around 120-150k miles. If you get a low mileage 5.4 now and slap a melling HV pump on it it will be just as reliable as the old 2v. Also

Tell me again how retarded you are. For fucks sake if I get one more teenager trying to tell me X isnt a good engine because their favorite israeliteTuber stuck 30lbs of boost into it and it blew up I'm going to get homicidal.

Mazda engine, although different enough between the mazda3 to prevent any swapping. Duratech Fords are the only ones I see regularly break 300k miles.

The Duratec or L-engine is from Mazda. Ford has unique FlexFuel heads for it. The Zetec in the Focus you posted is a pure Ford engine.

I took a long freeway Uber ride in an EcoSport this year and I literally thought I was going to die. Road noise was awful, everything in the cabin rattled, the interior was the cheapest plastic shit I've ever seen (and I used to own a Festiva) and the engine sounded like it was going to explode at 65 mph. I was never so happy to get OUT of a car.

got a good deal on a Fusion not too long ago that is really gaping my asshole.. it's needed two flexplate replacements and now after throwing a fuel system code I see the high pressure fuel pump took a shit.. it gets even better, after further inspection there is massive sludge buildup and what looks like scoring, a camshaft lobe worn down completely flat and a turbo that's about to shit the bed and is leaking oil badly.. most of this is covered by warranty but jesus christ I will never touch a Ford again in my life

cars made by naggers and single moms

literally, that is the problem. The union protects the fuck out of workers, so you get a lot of guys slamming 3-4 beers at lunch while doing bumps of cocaine in their cars. There's a reason the best ford cars were made in Canada (panther platform cars) - mostly white workers there. Also why Ford cars made in Mexico (Fusion, Maverick, Ranger etc) are usually okay

The most recent two generations of Rangers are/were built in Michigan and they've had a really solid record. Maybe it's because they were designed by Aussies to be built by Thais so it's hard to fuck up?

FORScan is the greatest buff that FoMoCo has, and they can't even claim to deserve it.

The closest thing they've actually done themselves is dropping the measurements/specs for their FITS system so people can design their own attachments.

Ford sucks but ForScan is fucking awesome and I can tinker with my vehicle in hundreds of ways with it. Plus for whatever reason their dealer software is pretty much the only manufacturers out there that is available by piracy. I have a Windblowz laptop around solely to use a pirated copy of Ford IDS with a China clone of their dealer OBD tool to get 100% of dealer data for the very few things forscan can't do.

Ford is to invested in turbo shitbox engines that require frequent dealer visits. I really don’t know what the confusion is. We tried turbos in the 60s then again in the 80s and they’re failing again today. It’s like people don’t learn.

Being ignorant costs money. One would think if they’re making a purchase it makes sense to look into the details of it. I like to know details of where my individual purchases are made, what they’re made of and what the track record of the company is before purchasing.

I do that for objects I’m not particularly interested in, why someone that isn’t interested in vehicles wouldn’t do the same is befuddling.

Is it still in what LULZ considers gestation, <200k miles? Here running-in begins at 200k.

          Anonymous

Well, mine is just over 100k but I’ve seen people doing 200k with the same engine like me without issues, just scheduled maintenance. I’ve once even seen a guy post one with over 300k on the clock.
I’m pretty sure people kill turbos (along with other things) by never revving and (even more so) accelerating at low RPMs. They just clog up the whole thing.

            Anonymous

            >accelerating at low RPMs
Explain, this is how engines are supposed to be run efficiently assuming you’re geared correctly to utilize available torque at low RPms

              Anonymous

It’s neither efficient nor good for the engine to accelerate at low RPMs.
You should accelerate fast, at high RPMs, only when cruise speed is reached should you switch to a gear that will reduce the RPMs.

the bigger ecoboosts like the 2.7 or 3.5 are extremely good engines, I think its the smaller 2.0 that has problems. The big ecoboosts that are in the F150 are true beasts and besides the cam phaser problems have proven to be overall more reliable than Dodge or GM's equivalents. Turbos are more reliable than the cylinder deactivation systems in big v8s.

i'm convinced GMC deliberately manufactures flaws into their vehicles in order to make money on repairs and parts

the "ecosport" timing belt in oil is a bit suspicious, as well as the water pump being in the block in transverse 3.5 ecoboosts

    just buy a toyota/honda/mazda tbh

and ford is able to make a good car, the crown victoria is notoriously reliable. however ford is a greedy american company that's gone the route of selling "lifestyle" vehicles, suvs and trucks propped up by advertising instead of quality engineering

I’d go as far to say as the 7.3l Godzilla appears to be a safe reliable vehicle from Ford.
But with the N/A V6 being removed from the option list there isn’t a single decent engine left in the F150 lineup.

The 3.5 is the 3.3 with beefed up internals and some turbos. They share everything mechanically. I think it is the only engine left not using the rubber oil pump belt.

I bought a new Focus back in 2015, have been driving it as my only car ever since.

Get the LED replacement housings. Those housings fail all the time. I replaced my housings once with OEM ones and they failed in two years. Put some LED ones on it and I've had no issues.

Original one lasted 8 years, I’m fine with that.
Any change to lighting is illegal where I live anyway, I can’t just add some aftermarket lights attached to the plate housing.

The only reason Ford still exists is because the F-150 has such a huge boomer brand following. Just like virtually every other American company. We can’t produce jack shit worth a fuck outside of MIC stuff that gets a bajillion dollars in funding because companies here are ran almost exclusively by greedy, short sighted, impulsive retards for over half a century by now.

I think by the year 2000 the board realized they were never going to be able to compete with Japan on reliability.

So they said "we will make better looking cars than Japan, at a lower price, and they will be faster too".

And they did exactly that. I bought a mustang GT in 2006 and sold it in 2014. That car was such shit it was unreal. Water leak, broken spark plugs, broken e brake cable, cheap fucking interior, electrical issues. It just went on and on
