Why be Orthodox when Americans have Pic Related?

Sedevacantism makes sense if your beliefs line up with Pre Vatican 2 Catholicism.

By going Sede you can

1. Keep your beliefs
2. Not change your beliefs to Orthodox
3. Not change your beliefs to Novus Ordo

For example, if you take no issue with the death penalty. going sede means you can keep believing this. Being Orthodox or Vatican 2 means you can't

The pic and article show a town can and does do whatever it wants. We Americans have tons of churches that cater to our preferences. Why go outside of our preferences to please you theologically?

Okay, so why would you ever follow any institutionalized christian belief if you don't believe in the divinity of a church head?
This modern, secular clamoring for authority and legitimacy in institutionalized christianity is fricking pathetic.

Focusing on actually studying the bible rather than theatrics. Catholicism and pop music megachurches both fall into the latter.

Baptists are normies, most churches are anti-intellectual. It would be better to try and find a slightly conservative Lutheran or Presbyterian church.

Trad Caths are all LARPers whose chief concern is aesthetics and a superficial adherence to what is perceived as "tradition". They just call themselves Catholic because it's such an old Institution, not genuine belief in the salvation of their souls and in the catechism (which they read once and never think about again)

            Anonymous

Eugenics can be as simple as genetic testing and advice.

            Eg
            >your kidnis 71% likely to have downs
            >your kid is 5% likely to be a troony
            >your kid has a 96% chance to be a Black person
Given this simple KNOWLEDGE, a percentage of people would make the choice not to have kids.

You dont need every dysgenic to stop having kids, you just need to have 1 extra couple stop, that otherqise would have had a kid. Over time this adds up to massive changes, look at a family tree to understand why taking out 1 moronic ancestor stops a million morons 1000 years down the line.

I remember that time Jesus said "hey guys, if your beliefs line up with my Church you could follow me. I mean, if you like that is, no pressure or anything, pick whatever church you're most comfortable with, I'm just saying if we're on the same wavelength you don't have to go shopping for another church", it was very inspiring

    >By going Sede you can
    >1. Keep your beliefs
This is why Old Catholic/Sede movements are doomed. It doesn't take a big logical leap to justify gay marriage, female priests, transgender monks, etc. under the premise that "the pope's teachings no longer matter, we can just follow our own beliefs based on our personal interpretation of tradition." You might keep the cool ceremonies like the Anglicans did, but your ability to maintain orthodoxy isn't going to last more than a few decades.

We can also call those people heretics and kick them out of the church. It doesn't take a big council to declare a heretic. We can do it ourselves.

To all sedevacantists reading this post, please watch these two videos:

    Leaving SSPX Behind

    [Embed]

    Critique of Sedevacantist Arguments

    [Embed]

The second video, in particular, focuses on the magisterium, the teaching office of the Church. The speaker shows very clearly how sedevacantists do not have a correct understanding of Catholic canon law, and as a result have made some fundamental interpretational errors. I might add that very few people, including otherwise well-educated Catholics, are familiar with this material, but a correct understanding is critical to the growth of interest in sedevacantism.

Also consider reading all or part of the following book that sets out a very detailed refutation of various sedevacantist claims and arguments:

Contra Sedevacantism: A Definitive Refutation of Sedevacantism
    https://docs.google.com/document/d/1QyilJ9oBjUsXtjS0e-HsUakO8Sgw5bP1salPZUWYJzA/edit

The book is free, and downloads are authorized by the author (who uploaded the document).

Another book sedevacantists owe it to themselves to read is Thomas G. Guarino, The Disputed Teachings of Vatican ll: Continuity and Reversal in Catholic Doctrine.
    https://www.amazon.com/Disputed-Teachings-Vatican-II-Continuity/dp/080287438X

Come back to the Catholic Church -- the bark of Peter, outside of which is no salvation. Build up the Church, don't tear it apart by engaging in schism.

Every sedevacantist has separated himself from the faith of the Catholic Church. By your actions you testify that you do not trust the promise of Christ that the Gates of Hell would not prevail against His Church. Well, if you do not trust Christ, or His Church, what do you trust?

    Think. Pray.

    Wake up!

    Repent!

The life you save may be your own.

Why the frick don't these goobers just admit they're Protestants? They're literally seething at corruption and heresy in the Vatican, just like a certain German friar named Martin

      Anonymous

The main reason for it is because they so badly want to continue to affiliate with the Roman Catholic religious identity. They don't want to separate from the brand, they want to take over it and place their own people in charge. I think they are on a fool's errand, if they expect any meaningful likelihood of the old ways returning, and that they are better off just actually starting a Catholic-like church (in protest, i.e. protestant) that severs from the current people in charge at Rome.

        >just actually starting a Catholic-like church (in protest, i.e. protestant) that severs from the current people in charge at Rome.
I think that's the mark they consistently miss. When Protestantism began nobody was thinking "heh we ain't the church", they thought they were the ones fixing the church and getting rid of corruption, useless and heretical additions, etc.
Seds literally are coming from the exact same place Luther was coming from. The Church hierarchy is acting in a way they don't like, they're protesting, but they continue to pretend they adhere to it lmao.

Traditional Catholic beliefs involve intellectual obedience and submission to the bishops, so no, you cannot keep your beliefs and be a sedevacantist.

    >Divine action is always new and fresh, it never retraces its steps, but always finds new routes.
    >When we are led by this action, we have no idea where we are going, for the paths we tread cannot be discovered from books or by any of our thoughts. But these paths are always opened in front of us and we are impelled along them.
    >Imagine we are in a strange district at night and are crossing fields unmarked by any path, but we have a guide. He asks no advice nor tells us of his plans. So what can we do except trust him?
Abandonment to Divine Providence by Pére Jean-Pierre de Caussade, S.J.

All this applies to God leading the Catholic Church, most especially that last line: What can we do but trust Him?

You sedevacantists -- when Christ spoke of eating His flesh and drinking His blood in John 6, if you had been there, you would have abandoned Him, just as you abandon Him now (you abandon Him by leaving His Church, just as Paul persecuted Him by persecuting His Church).

But what did Peter say when Christ asked if he too would go away?

Peter replied: "Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words of everlasting life."

Let those words be your guide. Stay with Christ through thick and thin. Do not abandon Him. Do not imagine that the gates of Hell have prevailed against the See of Peter. Heaven forbid.

Trust God. What can you do except trust Him?

As Peter said, so you too say: "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of everlasting life."
