Why are zoomers afraid of hard work?

"There's something in us, it's the fault in our stars, you know, where we begin to resent the very thing we rely upon," said Rowe.

"My career has been spent mostly trying to find the workers who are out of sight and therefore out of mind, just tapping the country on the shoulder and saying, 'hey! What about him? What about her? Check these guys out,'" he added.

Labor shortages across the country have hamstrung companies trying to meet the increased demand as the pandemic recedes and Americans go back to living life. Average wages have risen as a response, but skyrocketing inflation is also taking a toll.

"Look this whole problem, this disconnect, this skills gap, 11 million open jobs, this isn't a mystery. This is a reflection of what we value," Rowe continued.

"And our country has become disconnected from the kinds of jobs that you're talking about right now. We're not properly gobsmacked when we turn on the switch and the lights turn on, or when we flush the toilet and it all goes away," he said.

I've had experience with this when it comes to dating. I've had women turn down further dates because I told them that I do a high-skilled labour job (it pays very well). One even said, "Oh is that like manual labour?" in condescending way before making it clear that was our last date. Meanwhile, I've been plenty of cougars/milfs who find what I do attractive and hot. Definitely a generational divide where women today don't appreciate men who work hard but with their hands. Of course, this is mostly in metropolitan areas. In rural areas women continually value men who work hard, regardless of what they do.

most of those people, who worked a lifetime as a laborer don't have any wealth at all just property that they can't sell because they live there. the only time the property, which most time in run down, from being lived in for so long, will become wealth is when their kids sell it after they die.

Many old people here get spat on and the politicnas increase pension age more and more, hoping they will die before getting any money
Many get such a low pension they become homeless and are dependant on their sons and daugthers.
So much for a welfare state, huh. Everything going to mudslime invaders that does absolutely nothing and simply leeches billions of tax money.

Why won't you start a painting business with $20k worth of annual insurance, inspections, fines, sue happy clientele, and a minimal start up cost anon? Why won't you work for $3 more an hour to risk falling off a ladder and getting scorched by the sun for weeks on end instead of working an extra ten hours holding down a counter?

Every single boomer male in my family is broken, some can't even walk, or stand for long periods of time because of pain from physical labor. The one retired boomer delivered beer lives on pain medication and can't really do anything. Almost every single older guy in my union is on pain meds, is an alcoholic, or both. Many don't make it to 75 before kicking the bucket after being sick and in pain for years after retirement.
I'd say most men who work labor their whole lives won't make it to 75 and will be in pain and sickness for most of their reinterment able to do nothing but sit in their own shit all day.

I process benefit claims. The shear volume of horrific medical reports of 50ish year old tradesmen we get is harrowing, especially noticing the reoccurring similarities - severe arthritis and chronic pain come standard, but most of them have a life altering injury happen between 45 and 50 that just destroys them. They’re just doing something they’ve done 10,000 times before, but that seems to be the age range that the cumulative damage to their body just overwhelms them and they fucking snap like a twig -Spine ground to dust, aggressive hernias, muscles snapped. You don’t see bodily damage like that on regular people until they’re in their 80s.

There's little reward for it, because of taxes and regulations.

1st of all this is about SERVICE JOBS. Most of the vacancies are because people have started searching for REAL jobs, that can pay a decent wage than another job where they're barely going to get ahead.

If I was allowed to build a house that's probably not perfect to code with my own hands and got a book, yeah I'd love too. If I got a service job anywhere except Florida, where just being a horse-feed lifter or a dishwasher gets me Blue-Shield healthcare insurance (because red-state employers can afford from surplus), then I'd go bankrupt and in debt the first injury I get.

Then there's the fact that everything's inflated to the point food is 33-50% more expensive, and gas is astronomical.
Because boomers believe in bureaucracy, and Millennials believe unironically expanding a system which has chronologically and endemically failed them is going to bring different results.

Then there's the fact that there's local and state sales tax, there's federal and state income tax, there's property tax, and then there's house maintenance bills, utilities bills, groceries bills (ALL OF WHICH ARE CHEAPER IN RED STATES LIKE TX AND FLORIDA SERIOUSLY F*CK MILLENNIALS AND BOOMERS)

I'm a 30 year old boomer and at my first entry level job I came up with a solution allowing the company to retain a million dollar client. The company was lying they had a solution which they didn't have. I worked several weekends coming up with it. The only thing I got at the end of the year during my performance review was a 2.5% raise claiming that's all I was worth. I handed in my resignation AND only then did they offer a 30% raise. I left anyways. I found out everyone on my team was slowly let go by the end of the year and replaced with a new group of university graduates and co-op engineering students.

2 of the partners in the company were relatively young with meme degrees like HR and Marketing. Anyone working for an employer should be thinking about how to start their own niche firm because you will almost never be fairly compensated working for someone else. I remember back when I was 21 looking for jobs and all employers had the attitude of me being a subhuman because I wasn’t a super experienced guy with a shit load of things going on for myself. Then the guy that hired me for retail didn’t give shit about my resume so that’s the only job I worked, for three months. Finished my diploma and did nothing until going for my uni degree and finished everything except one credit which requires a job. I did nothing in between and currently 27 with no experience except one shitty job. Here’s what you’ll look forward too, being treated as a subhuman because you don’t have the experience especially if you’re older. Actually getting a worthwhile job requires nepotism and connections unless it’s retail or hospitality both shit. I wish I didn’t go to school for business. Now I’m too old and stupid to go for stem or trades. I might do trades if my last option is that or the rope.

If you make them millions of dollars they'll still treat you like a subhuman sucker. This country has a never ending supply of low-self esteem suckers, and employers are more than happy to take advantage of it. Employers have zero gratitude for talent, hard work, intelligence because they possess none of these. The only think they respect is people like them. People going around and assigning work onto underlings. If they see you doing that they'll respect you. I had to do that for a week and the higher ups were impressed by how I assigned the work and remarked that I showed leadershit potential.

Those internships are subsidized by the government. They get 30-50% of the wages subsidized by the Canadian government for hiring students enrolled in university co-op programs. To add insult to injury the co-op programs have higher fees. You're effectively paying extra money to be able to spend your summers being a wagecuck.

          https://uwaterloo.ca/co-operative-education/your-co-op-fee

The employer I mentioned in the last post was hiring engineering students from UWaterloo, paying them minimum wage to do an immense amount of detail oriented, difficult work. On top of this they were getting tax breaks from the government for hiring the co-op students. These were 4.0 (or close to it) students from Waterloo that were getting paid almost nothing.

The higher ups were in their offices cracking jokes and playing trivia games, coming in late to the office and leaving the office early.

I don't know if it's communism or driven by ideology, I would just say it's a scam to get more money. The president of that company considered himself a libertarian but when I pointed out how he was getting subsidies from the government he remarked "that makes me a good businessman."

A lot of employers like to pretend that there's a skill gap and they ought to be compensated for conferring valuable skills to the employees by giving them real world experience.

I noticed really bright 4.0 average engineering students picking up the job in 2 weeks or so. By the end of the month they knew the job far better than the management that claimed to be experts at this software. This begs the question, why should these worthless employers get subsidized? Are these students gaining any valuable skills? No.

To add to this some internships are created simply for nepotism reasons.

He's right. Its also why hard labor jobs don't pay what they should to reflect the risk of long and short term serious injury.

Every day is nonstop pain in jobs like that, then you go collect your paycheck from some fat pig woman sitting at a desk that makes a full third more than you an hour for using microsoft excel. She looks at you like you're the absolute scum of the earth getting more than you deserve while she's already getting more than her fair share and constantly demanding more.

I use to see the floorhands treated this way constantly, at three different companies, when I was doing contract work driving a lift. It carries outside the work place, because that fat pig probably has three kids she imparted her narcissistic pathologies upon.

We're a step away from corporate gulags all over the country because of this pervasive mentality that people who do manual labor jobs are the lowest scum of the earth rather than the base of the pyramid that needs to be strong and well taken care off.

Nobody is afraid of hard work, us zoomers are only concerned we're being fucked over in every possible way by the managers and executives who've been around in the biggest golden age ever where you could literally walk to fucking Jerry's auto shop across the street, give the owner a firm handshake for the job and earn more than enough to pay your bills, support a family of 5 and own a house.
It doesn't work like that anymore because of the insane productivity to wage disconnect that started back in 1979, the removal of the gold standard leading to the fucking FIAT printing inflation hell of the dollar, the bar being raised by such an insane amount for entry level work and a myriad of other economic reasons. There's nothing more patronizing than hearing "just work harder lol" from the same people living in such an age considering how fucking impossible it is to get ahead nowadays without cheating the system and job hopping every 6 months.

I can't even own a fucking vacation home and travel, let alone get a house mortgage to support a wife and three kids on a software developer wage. I am paid far more than most in this damned country and yours, I can't even imagine what it's like for the poor fucks my age who earn anything less than I do being forced into rent slavery because they're not getting a loan from the bank to buy property.
I am a lot more fortunate than others, but I can't help but share the hatred the ones struggling my age have for you projecting fucks who were partying until you were 30 while working part time small jobs to finance that and got a comfy job right after at your dads company doing jack shit, for free.

So, you want us on board? Give me remote work, a wage that closely follows the value I create or fuck right off.

They also don't want to pay. They literally view any type of tradie or bule collar worker as expendable slavery.

I see it all the times in local social media/internet community groups. Some cheap boomer fuck or older Gen X Karen looking for some kind of skilled tradesperson. "Must be licensed, insured, have all the proper credentials and tools... oh and he can't charge too much!"

I saw one stupid old fuck trying to pay someone $10 an hour. Minimum wage is I think $14.00. This entitled stupid fuck literally wanted to pay people less than minimum wage.
