LULZ / Misc

Why are they pushing these fucking e-bikes and e-scooters so hard?

They are dangerous as fuck.
They don't even have good range.
The lithium for the batteries is more toxic than gas, far more limited, and the process to extract it is environmentally nightmarish.
They all look fucking weird.
And they aren't even cheap. Fucking $7k for a bicycle with a battery and a motor and they're saying this is a deal.
The shilling has been insane and concentrated entirely in the last 2 years.

For $7,300USD you should just buy a proper motorcycle instead of a s.oyboy electric bike.

That's the most ridiculous part. You are spending 5-7k to look like an enormous homosexual. And these bikes are 60 pounds so a n-word will just steal it.
For 7k you can get a brand new KLR650 and ride around the whole fucking world.

I have. They are cool offthegrid bug out bikes, but you arnt going to sneak up on a deer with one. Electric are silent. Youll never get that ever from a gas vehicle. The only down side to electric is range and the rare unlikely preppers fear of total power grid failure.

        >You cant get two wheel drive (for climbing steep terrain)
How steep of terrain are you trying to climb? I ride my dirt bikes on single track trails and any time I’ve felt a climb was too steep it was because of my high center of gravity, not a loss of traction.

          Anonymous

Yeah you are correct, the shape of a bike and your high center of gravity is the limiting factor on climbing. I have multiple ebike bikes, rear wheel, mid hub, and tried to add a front wheel to the mid hub but it was as t good.

If you wanna go up hill on ebike or regular bike you can only do much. Two wheel drive really doesn’t help and would be too much for the average person. Maybe some extreme mountain biking enthusiast can utilize it in a way that helps them but I found it worse than single motor - for control - which is infinity more important than power.

I have an unthrotted fat tire bike that I’ve gotten up to 50 mph and two with limiters, a fat tire that can go to 30ish mph and a pedal assist only light town bike thst can go 25.

But no matter which I’m riding I’m usually only cruising around at a casual 15-20 mph because it feels most comfortable, wind wise, shock wise, and response time wise. Only picking up speed for fun when safe. Anyone who doesn’t ride this way, the normal/sane way, deserves what happens.

Bro ebike range from kits for a couple hundred bucks to luxury 30,000+ ones

Same with regular bikes. I can get one at Walmart or u can get specialized bikes that cost tens of thousands of dollars.

Same with cars. All these vehicles have huge range in price of options right for anybody.

You are making the false assumption that price is all that matters. Bikes are considered luxury goods in the first world, not necessities, so price will reflect the wide range of options, from cheap to obnoxious.

Dunno why you third worlders get so hung up on this concept. It’s not exclusive to America. Luxury goods markets exist even in your poor fag countries.

If you’re using a bike as a means of transportation in an urban area agility is the key to keeping yourself safe as you never know when you’re gonna have to quickly adjust and move out of the way of a car door, pedestrian walking out from behind a car, someone turning right without looking etc. Ebikes are retarded as a transportation option and are just toys for homosexuals with weak legs.

The new Goldwings actually have too much technology. The amount of buttons is ridiculous and there are more functions than on many cars. It's intimidating and silly. But they are really cool to ride. The engine is sick and they are surprisingly nimble. The 80s ones are the best looking and they can be had for cheap. Many old people bought them and then died so there are tons with less than 50k miles for $2k that just need a carb cleaning and some electrical fixes and they're in top shape again for like $1k in fixes. The power delivery is smooth as hell, the engine is giant, and the size of the bike is something you don't get until you're on it though so it's not for young people.

I have multiple ebikes, and motorcycles (and a dirt bike), and multiple cars.

They aren’t al just interchangeable and “this one is clearly better than this one.” They all have different uses, are allowed in different places/roads/trails, and have different ‘best speeds’. For casual, slow, fun rides ebikes are great. Imagine trying to ride your motorcycle around at 10-15 mph through a crowded area or on a l riverside bike trail. You wouldn’t
/shouldn’t do that anymore than you would take your ebike on the highway or use it to go to Costco.

You poor people/third worlders/shutins seem to be under the false assumption that people can only have ONE vehicle and it will be your only mode of transportation. That’s retarded. Most people able to shell out 1500+ on an ebike likely already have a normie car and are getting a bike for fun, as an option, not to replace their car. Maybe 1 in 10000 homosexuals who buy an ebike are virtue signaling libtards who give up their car and 99.9% of normies aren’t doing that. It’s a false image you have in your head.

My whole point was that ebikes are socially acceptable to use in a wide range of places no motorcycle or gas powered vehicle would be and that’s one of the appeals of the ebikes. I can explore and experience different places than I can on my dirt bike.

Uhm. Well, with a car the engine is totally enclosured and you have a layer of soundproofing foam between you and the engine. Additionally cars have a longer run for the exhaust pipe. So for the driver, a motorcycle will almost certainly be louder. That said, mine isn’t even close to obnoxious unless I’m wide open without a helmet.

In terms of the neighbors and whatnot… it’s not a Harley. It doesn’t make loud noises unless I’m really on the gas. Some bikes are much more quiet than others.

    >"just" 7,300 for a bike with a battery with a range of "200" miles
Why the fuck would anyone spend that amount of money on that? The range is ok I guess, but that's likely theoretical with best conditions. And likely much shorter than that if you're not a gay skeleton with nothing being carried.
If you're that worried about you somehow countering India and China doing like 75% of global pollution, go move to India and do something there to reduce pollution like getting them to recycle shit.

      Anonymous

Its worse then that, as you say its ideal conditions but its beyond whats even realistic, they did the guiness world record indoors on a smooth velodrome track, with a professional athlete wearing aero gear, with narrow high psi tyres, correct temp for the battery to work optimally etc etc, and the speed was limited to 15mph. There isn't much point having a strong dirt bike style construction like the stealth bomber clones have if you are only doing 20mph most of the time, which is what you need to do to be able to go more than 50 miles on an e-bike on one charge, and typically these batteries take 5 to 8 hours to charge. Delfast used a huge battery to partially overcome those limitations, hence why its so expensive, if that battery breaks or has to be replaced, or anything else breaks, its very expensive.

Thats why my newest design is more like what Sasha Kreosan used, alloy frame hardtail gravel bike with a triangle battery in the middle with a second smaller battery on the rear rack.

It does 70mph and is basically an electric motorbike with pedals so it can go on some bicycle trails. Most normal countries and cities have made to laws to prevent them being used on road.
Its just a toy. If you want to enjoy a really good e-Bike, then absolutely convert your favorite hardtail or full suspension with a bafang mid drive kit: completely avoid hub motors, they are for total homosexuals. A mid drive will use the gears that come with your bike to multiply torque and completely transform your bike ride. Plus you wont look like an e-bike to most people.

they’re pretty good actually. tried one out for awhile, bike shop had trials for them where you could pay 100$ to use it for a month and you could keep doing that or just buy it. this one would’ve been 2700$ which isn’t too much more than a decent bike. Also you don’t have to use the assist at all. If you want you can just use it as a regular bike. could easily get up to 30mph within a few seconds using it at the max and made even steep hills almost effortless to go up. They have levels and gears so you can still make it as physical as you want. dense urban areas might be annoying to ride them but in my small rural town it was great to get around places.

I have 3 ebikes. You don’t have to spend 7000 dollars. You can get a good bike for around 1500 and a great one for under 3000. You can also buy a kit and convert an existing bike for 150-500 bucks. Ebikes are fucking fun as shit and only practical for in town transportation. My bikes have 20-40 mile range. I have backup batteries for mine. I mostly, 99% of the time use my bikes for recreation and still use my cars for actually getting around. These aren’t meant to replace cars, they are toys, like regular bikes, or motorcycles, 4wheelers, etc. If you already enjoying biking you will enjoy an ebike too. It’s not some grand conspiracy.

They are fun as fuck. Can bomb it around the woods and avoid disturbing walkers, horse riders and wildlife. I regularly get within 20ft of deer which would never happen on a loud scrambler. They are also lighter than dirtbikes, no ripping up trails and causing unnecessary soil erosion.
On the cost: the batteries are expensive but charging them is cheap, I pay under a penny a mile and that's if I'm bombing it full throttle. Bike components are a rip off though admittedly, partially due to small volume and that they are often western based. Still worth it on balance imo.

They are pretty good if you never bothered to learn to drive due to being a NEET or just dislike of danger / traffic chaos / breaking laws or generally paying too much money to insurance 'garden gnomes'. I had no idea what they were until I heard someone on this site talking about 1kw motor and how they thought it would be really cool and all that, I was into engineering experiments 3d printing, electronics etc at that time, thats my reason for being interested, I used to be a long distance cyclist but I became ill and can't go more than a few hundred metres on a regular bike anymore. I agree that it very conveniently fits into the great reset / electric car / anti-transport agenda but I had no way of knowing that at the time. I think they fit well with an traditionalist / off grid anti-government anti-industry libertarian sort of lifestyle. I have a bike thats similar to the Delfast and I wouldn't recommend it unless you want to travel short distances quickly every day e.g. live in a city, but also live somewhere the police won't bother you, OR you really like dirt biking, in which case the Sur Ron is likely far better choice.

  83. 1 week ago

Main reason for ebikes is they're really simple, theres a bike, a motor and battery pack. You dont need insurance, you use it like a regular bike and it goes max 25km/h and lifes easy.
Now people will steal them, or at minimum the battery pack and whatever else they can cram off the bike so you need advanced anti-theft solutions like keeping it indoors and heavy locks, but the annual cost of using one relative to anything else is actually tolerable for a minimum wager.

Also surron aren't dirtbikes really anyway, they are tiny, very lightweight and usually built up with MTB components. You would do far better just to buy or build an eMTB. Another advantage over surron form factor is it passes as a normal bike visually to normies, a surron makes you look like a criminal.

But i don't like MTB or the like, it's just so wobbly and unstable in comparison to e.g. my 125cc.

You third worlders don’t understand. We Americans aren’t buying these because we are too poor to afford cars. Most Americans own multiple cars. We buy these as toys. Same with dirt bikes and jet skis and boats and regular old normal bicycles. The prices are irrelevant. We pick them based off the features and styles we like and pay whatever is in our arbitrary “toy” budget. This sits in the garage next to the kayak, the dirt bike, the skis, etc. maybe 1 in 10,000 ebikes sold in america is someone’s sole means of transportation.

Being angry that some ebikes cost 7000+ is like being mad that a rich dude buys a yacht when he could just buy a rowboat! That’s how stupid you third worlders read to us Americans ITT.

You can have an acceptable ebike that will do 100miles at 25mph for like $1,500. Most Ebikes in that power class with a 72v battery(where most of the cost goes on a Stealth Bomber ebike variant) are pretty expensive. If your looking for a more reasonable option I suggest Sur Ron; half the price, 45mph, 30 mile range, 0-100% battery charge in just 5 hours, as customizable as any bike and the batteries last over 3000 miles if properly maintained(20-80% charge and discharge). Only drawback is that the pedal kit is pretty ass and cops might hassle you about where you ride it

Bro you can charge an ebike anywhere you can plug in a regular plug. Even those city owned bikes with special chargers can easily be opened up and modded to charge off a regular plug. Cope. Don't charge overnight, don't use a shit charger, keep a fire extinguisher near the battery for the 0.1% chance something goes wrong.

You're fucking poor bro, because you live a poor lifestyle, driving your isolated cuckpod in the stroad meanwhile I'm chatting up 16yo qts on the bike trails

Half of the activities you listed are recreational. Many of the anti bike fags in this thread are just poor third worlders and fat fucks who don’t understand spending some money on a nice recreational toy. They r like “I could buy a dozen piece of shit old cars for that price!” Or “u can’t even fit 500 gallons of corn syrup infused poison in the trunk!” Etc

Anyone against ebikes is poor, fat, or both.

I have one, it goes 30mph for around 30miles on a full to empty charge. Takes five hours to charges. I can pedal it if I want to go further. It's great.

Imagine not owning a motorcycle instead. Who the fuck is the market for a 7k ebike. Even as a pure toy purchase... 7k lmao

The only bike worth buying is a 99-00 CR250.
That’s it, swap the VIN with a car for something and get plates, toss on some small hidden LEDs and some mirrors. No it wont last a long time and no it’s not quiet but you can do a top end in an afternoon, and be cool af all day.

Oldfag here. I just bought a RipRacer from Juicedbikes for $1700. It is awesome. I need to get more exercise, because I work at a home at a desk. Center of town is 5 miles away, and hilly. I used to ride it as a kid, but it has gotten harder as an adult, and the e-bike helps me do the hills that discourage the physical exercise. I find myself pushing myself harder on rides because I know that if I get exhausted, I can get a little assist.

It is a toy, but it is also a great way to get around locally. I have a big 4x4 van that I strap it to the back of, and when I travel, I can park the van in a safe place, and explore cities, parks, and go from town to town. Then, I come back, plug the bike into the inverter in the van, and do it all again the next day.
It's not a replacement for a vehicle, it is an enhancement to the freedom of an IC vehicle to me.
