Why are people getting so buttmad about YouTube rightfully nullifying adblockers from working on their platform? They're providing a free service and basically the most content on the Internet ever. Shouldn't they be entitled to some ad money?

No.
it’s strange that people will not pay for youtube premium. You pay for a hundred other stupid things, don’t lie
>Change your location to Turkey via VPN
>Play $1 a month for Premium
That doesn’t work retard
I did it this year and last year.
https://www.reddit.com/r/VPN/comments/14mwf6h/how_to_enjoy_youtube_premium_for_only_115_per/
>need a card issued from that country
hence you are full of shit
I don't know what to say. My subscription is still active. I even used the shitty Norton VPN to do it. I guess Google caught on.
is it the pajeet devs?
Yeah it's fair enough that they're trying to crack down on it, I still don't feel bad about circumventing them though.
I used a dogshit free VPN set to Russia and it worked, yesterday
I dunno what to tell you
>have to pay for a vpn or use a free one that sells your data
no thanks
>it’s strange that people will not pay for youtube premium.
Because Google are liars. If everybody that currently blocks ads bought Premium, the next step for Google is to introduce ads to Premium. People aren't fucking stupid, these companies are never satisfied so it's pointless to give them any money at all. They'll keep degrading the service and upping prices for gullible retards to pay no matter how much money they make, so might as well keep your cash, block ads, and let them blow their platforms up faster so they can finally go bankrupt and let smarter and better companies replace them. It's your moral duty as a capitalist and an American to block ads.
Also, there's huge money to be made for Google from advertisers buying adspace on their platforms, far more money than if every single person with an active account bought Premium.
Google has stolen people's information and made billions off of our data. Everybody that uses Google has already paid for their entertainment multiple times over. If Google can't run a business that way it's their own damn fault, not ours. Let Youtube die then, nobody will give a shit, and all the Handyman tutorials that everybody bleats about are all available in text and image form on phpBB board anyways.
Interesting take, they would probably do that
Yeah. Whats also interesting is that public companies in America are legally obligated to do whatever makes the stakeholders the most money.
They definitely would. '80s kids remember when there were no commercials on cable TV. No commercials was actually one of the selling points for cable TV. As soon as everyone had cable, they started having commercials.
the fuck are you talking about, TV had ads even back in the 40s
I think he's talking about cable tv.
electricity, water, wifi, the vegetables im not growing myself, meat, soap. literally never needed more. yeah i know i can take it further, get solar, make my soap and purify my own water. maybe soon
do you just code and be productive all day?
Would be too boring, right? I do plenty of piracy, some social media, even fanfiction. And cycling. Gardening. But I also have to do errands and shit for my family
>pay for premium
>still display "Products you might like"
matza smelling-hands typed this post
$1/month and that's my final offer.

Only vaccinated sub-humans like you who wore masks to continue to participate in slop society pay to consume garbage. I still haven't re-entered society since the whole vaxpass thing, and my life hasn't been better
You cum drinking vaccinated NPC golem
People who give money to one of the most evil corporations on earth deserve to die.
Elaborate.
>I will continue to use the platform of the most evil corporation
>I would drop my shitty job in a second to work for the most evil corporation
Does this sound like you?
yes, thats him to a t
The only job I'd consider doing for Google is to lead a team of 1,000 white male developers to reopen and triage 250,000 bug reports going all the way back to Android 4 and coordinate with carriers to push the fixes out to all devices in the wild at Google's expense.
Youtube is not a service. Its a company. It does what grant it profit.
>Semantics
Opinion disregarded
So do I.
Maybe if ads weren't intrusively pushing themselves to an unavoidable degree that hurts web design and said ads also weren't actively malicious (harboring viruses, being literal scams, etc.), we wouldn't need adblockers.
Maybe if more users would not use an adblocker, ads wouldn't have become that intrusive
>retard doesn't realize that's why adblock exists
uBlock/AdGuard with autistic jobless community providing custom cosmetic bypasses and destroying income stream for independent websites
This move probably made even more people install adblockers lol
> shouldn't they be entitled...
entitlement a shit
you're a nagger
Eventually Youtube will lobby the BBC to make Youtube part of the Television license fee and similar schemes in other countries.
>youtube
>free
no its not nagger. i pay with my data.
Since Google's thirst for ad revenue has been so insatiable as of late, especially if they block ublock on chrome next year, i want to take and not give back even more. when a large corporation which makes billions upon billions each quarter "needs more," I want to make sure they get less.
If they weren't so penny-pinching as of late, I wouldn't even care. Meaning, I still have a chip on my shoulder over them shutting down stadia
youtube does not make them money, you WILL continue to watch ads if you like the content
That's because they demonetize so many videos they lose the revenue they would be able to pull from advertisers.
You do realize that by demonetizing 75% of videos they're shooting themselves in the feet, right? And most of then they put ads that would be demonetized if they were videos on other videos.
It's a clown world.
>You do realize that by demonetizing 75% of videos they're shooting themselves in the feet, right?
Anon you don't really think that Google shows ads for free, right? Demonetization just means the creator doesn't get paid, Google still absolutely takes their cut. Don't be naive.
They're druggies. Every year Goole makes YouTube worse bit by bit but people still waste their time on it. While I wouldn't want it happen, it would be interesting to see the misery if Google managed to cripple yt-dlp's extractor.
They demonetized and even were complicit in de-platforming several of my favorite content creators. They, and you, can starve and die in a ditch.
>Content creators
Why have we normalized such a cringe word
>Who me? I'm a creative.
Any time I use the official YT app on my phone I'm reminded of just how garbage YT ads actually are, fuck 'em
>not using vanced

If they ever undo all the censorship they've forced upon youtubers to appease advertisers I'll consider it.
holy wow.. imagine defending corpo
I hope you get stabbed irl you pathetic scum
Poors gonna poor
>pajeet takes over
>they implement this shit
Tell me you're a retard without saying so.

I'd be mad if my dad didn't pay for a premium family subscription.
>YouTube nullifying adblockers
Is this actually happening? I've been hearing about the spooky "only 3 more videos" message for months but I've never once seen it, despite watching dozens of videos in that time.
I've seen it with my own eyes, but even after getting locked out after getting the "3 more videos" message it was just a matter of updating my uBlock and opening videos in private windows for a few days, then it went away again.
Now the EU may end up stepping in because adblock detectors are a potential privacy violation or something. It's a mess.
>They're providing a free service
Exactly.
you homosexuals will do anything but use Odysee
Don't blame us, blame the creators that haven't moved over yet. If Odysee had actual good content I'd watch it, I have no interest in a bunch of schizo /x/ and /misc/ shit.
several creators have been using it Mental nagger and SunnyV2 for example. You have only used Rumble and think it’s the same
>move to random schizo platform
Why do you people keep banging on about this when it's so fucking easy to get around YouTube's ad-blocker blocking?
People have been seeing different things , some people get caught with adblocker others don’t. I think their detection is buggy.
I use the premium family plan with no problem and my brother uses it from several states away. My cousin in a completely different state than both of us is on the same plan but can’t use it because they discovered he was in a different area. So it’s a tossup whether they can catch you
>So it’s a tossup whether they can catch you
But you can get around it with 100% consistency if you do what I'm doing in that picture. Why don't people do this?
There are ways to so easily avoid their blocking, 100% of the time, and people just don't do it. They just complain on the internet instead.
Youtube content isn't good enough to be worth the hassle. If they ever fix their blocking so that it actually affects me, I would be mildly annoyed and might complain about it a little on the internet, but I wouldn't go out of my way to find a workaround.
There is no hassle. I think people just can't be bothered to google the extremely, extremely easy ways of getting around Google. They come to LULZ looking for people to tell them the solution instead. Lol.
you mean this?
https://www.reddit.com/r/YouShouldKnow/comments/17c90ou/ysk_new_method_to_bypass_youtubes_ad_blocker/
Maybe they think you have a really big house
Honestly, I agree. They have every right to take measures to prevent adblockers from working. Doesn't mean I give a shit if people keep creating and using adblockers, though
>They have every right to take measures to prevent adblockers from working.
Nobody has ever said they don't except for children. The big argument is that corporate shills and Redditors seem to think that people don't ALSO have a right to use better adblockers to circumvent the adblocker block.
no
Fuck YT and their internet gentrification. They got big off the backs of people posting fun weird amateur shit, and now they're trying to turn it into cable 2.0? Hell with that.
come home white man
i am a homosexual
PREACH
Because access control is a basic human right. You dont get to demand what I see. I choose what I see. Forcing ads down my throat for products I'll never buy isn't going to help either of us. The people using adblock don't want to see the ads because they're essentially useless to us. I'm never ever going to be watching ads thinking
>golly gee I'm glad that ad exists i better run out and buy a Toyota!
No I'm sitting here wishing it would end so I can watch the content I chose. In fact it makes me not want to ever buy products advertised at me. It's having the adverse effect of disenfranchising me.
>Why are people getting so buttmad about YouTube rightfully nullifying adblockers from working on their platform?
Entitled brats
>They're providing a free service and basically the most content on the Internet ever. Shouldn't they be entitled to some ad money?
Yes
/thread
No. If they need ad money then they are running their business wrong.
Disabled? I uninstalled that shit once YouTube disallow listed ad blockers.
Google is not providing a free service. They have the full backing of the CIA which is laundering billions of dollars stolen from the taxpayer via the Federal Reserve.
YouTube does not have the right to take away user's freedom and human rights to block malicious third party ads in their own computing device and own web browser. Based EU will tell them to shut the fuck up and cool it down with the anti ad-block speech.
freetube lets me pick the default quality setting to max lol
youtube indian devs can't even do that
