Why are people getting so buttmad about YouTube rightfully nullifying adblockers from working on their platform? They're providing a free service and basically the most content on the Internet ever. Shouldn't they be entitled to some ad money?

Because Google are liars. If everybody that currently blocks ads bought Premium, the next step for Google is to introduce ads to Premium. People aren't fucking stupid, these companies are never satisfied so it's pointless to give them any money at all. They'll keep degrading the service and upping prices for gullible retards to pay no matter how much money they make, so might as well keep your cash, block ads, and let them blow their platforms up faster so they can finally go bankrupt and let smarter and better companies replace them. It's your moral duty as a capitalist and an American to block ads.

Also, there's huge money to be made for Google from advertisers buying adspace on their platforms, far more money than if every single person with an active account bought Premium.

Google has stolen people's information and made billions off of our data. Everybody that uses Google has already paid for their entertainment multiple times over. If Google can't run a business that way it's their own damn fault, not ours. Let Youtube die then, nobody will give a shit, and all the Handyman tutorials that everybody bleats about are all available in text and image form on phpBB board anyways.

They definitely would. '80s kids remember when there were no commercials on cable TV. No commercials was actually one of the selling points for cable TV. As soon as everyone had cable, they started having commercials.

That's because they demonetize so many videos they lose the revenue they would be able to pull from advertisers.
You do realize that by demonetizing 75% of videos they're shooting themselves in the feet, right? And most of then they put ads that would be demonetized if they were videos on other videos.

I've seen it with my own eyes, but even after getting locked out after getting the "3 more videos" message it was just a matter of updating my uBlock and opening videos in private windows for a few days, then it went away again.
Now the EU may end up stepping in because adblock detectors are a potential privacy violation or something. It's a mess.

Why do you people keep banging on about this when it's so fucking easy to get around YouTube's ad-blocker blocking?

      Anonymous

People have been seeing different things , some people get caught with adblocker others don’t. I think their detection is buggy.
I use the premium family plan with no problem and my brother uses it from several states away. My cousin in a completely different state than both of us is on the same plan but can’t use it because they discovered he was in a different area. So it’s a tossup whether they can catch you

        Anonymous

        >So it’s a tossup whether they can catch you
But you can get around it with 100% consistency if you do what I'm doing in that picture. Why don't people do this?

There are ways to so easily avoid their blocking, 100% of the time, and people just don't do it. They just complain on the internet instead.

          Anonymous

Youtube content isn't good enough to be worth the hassle. If they ever fix their blocking so that it actually affects me, I would be mildly annoyed and might complain about it a little on the internet, but I wouldn't go out of my way to find a workaround.

Because access control is a basic human right. You dont get to demand what I see. I choose what I see. Forcing ads down my throat for products I'll never buy isn't going to help either of us. The people using adblock don't want to see the ads because they're essentially useless to us. I'm never ever going to be watching ads thinking
    >golly gee I'm glad that ad exists i better run out and buy a Toyota!
No I'm sitting here wishing it would end so I can watch the content I chose. In fact it makes me not want to ever buy products advertised at me. It's having the adverse effect of disenfranchising me.
