Henry Ford got a reputation for being an antisemite by acquiring a newspaper and shortly thereafter it published some antisemitic articles that got republished later in a book. How much he had to do with the articles and/or how much he exercised editorial control of the paper is debatable. There's at least some anecdotal evidence of him going on some diatribes privately about the israeli problem as a ton of them came to the US post-WWI. If you want to read some kvetching over it, here you go:

ok cool that only took 5 fricking years for them to remember you can fit the Coyote in a f150

what pissed me off the most is they advertised the new bronco as having the heart of a mustang. but lol no v8 like we were implying, get fricked here's an undersized engine being overworked in a 4000+lb chonker, it was really worth it as you can see by the whopping 21 mpg.

And what's really shit is how in 10 years this board will look back on these days fondly and wish to return to them.

The days continue to get darker.

        Anonymous

This, look at MPG numbers for the V8 4Runner and V8 H3 and compare them across the board for the Bronco. Take into factor those engines were designed 20 years ago with ancient transmissions and no fuel saving tricks and riddle me how a modern V8 in the Bronco couldn’t do just as good if not better than the lawnmower engines they put in them.

Ford’s so invested in ecoboost they would go out of business to admit fault and move back to normal engines. There’s no other possible explanation why they keep forcing these turds on the public.

I've driven both offroad. A stick offers greater control and is far more comfortable. Being in low range in an auto you have to stand on the brakes while with a stick it's just let the clutch out normally. Plus you can't kill it in low.

nobody in this thread, or on this board drives a manual offroader, nor will they ever buy one. everyone here is a larper

Eh, you like what you like but automatic is objectively superior for off-roading because of the torque converter(lets not even mention that planetary gears are stronger by design)
Tanks, APCs and military off-road trucks are automatic for a reason

          Anonymous

          >Tanks, APCs and military off-road trucks are automatic for a reason
          Because enlists are moronic.
          >automatic is objectively superior for off-roading because of the torque converter
I've used both offroad and found the auto to be a worse experience. A torque converter doesn't matter when in low range, you are not going fast enough for it to make a difference. When in 1st and low range idle is not even 1MPH in a stick.

            Anonymous

The torque converter makes it practically impossible to stall and makes it possible for you to be both on the brake and accelerator at the same time basically pushing the vehicle against the brakes making it very easy to keep it from rolling back and losing traction.
Also your enlisted argument is bullshit.
            T. Was in the army, tank commander of a 70s soviet tracked APC. Stick steering and 6-speed manual transmission, 1-2 unsynced, 3-6 synced very poorly, double clutching mandatory for every shift and you have to be quick on it too. Also the gear you're in effects your turning radius(the steering isn't hydraulic like in modern tracked vehicles, it works more like a gear splitter) so you really need to think a head of your shifts.
Despite that, every single moron was able to learn it in a week or two.
Learning to operate a stick shift even in tank isn't hard. Enlisted people learn much harder tasks, even the grunts.
Automatic is by design superior for off-roading, especially in a heavy vehicle. Only real downside is size and weight vs a standart troony

            Anonymous

            >The torque converter makes it practically impossible to stall and makes it possible for you to be both on the brake and accelerator at the same time basically pushing the vehicle against the brakes making it very easy to keep it from rolling back and losing traction.
Riding the brakes in any situation is moronic. Especially when you're on a cliff side bouncing over rocks. Holding the handbrake and releasing the clutch in a stick gives the same effect as left foot braking and applying some gas in an auto.
You can prefer what you prefer, however the offroad enthusiast community does prefer stick over auto.

            Anonymous

            >however the offroad enthusiast community does prefer stick over auto.
            Not in my experience
Also your handbrake only works the rears and by design has worse feel and less braking power than drive brakes. Also slipping the clutch isn't good for your clutch disc, especially if the vehicle is heavy and terrain is hard

            Anonymous

            >only works the rears
With 4WD engaged, the handbrake works all four since the front and rear axles are connected via the transfer case.
You don't have to slip the clutch in 4 low. Just let it out and you're going a snails pace, the perfect speed to crawl up anything.

            Anonymous

            >and you're going a snails pace
only you're not, every manual is geared way too high in low range especially if you also have oversized tires.

            Anonymous

            >geared way too high in low range especially if you also have oversized tires.
I've never had any problems with the gearing. My truck goes a slow walking pace in 1st low.
Only morons don't regear their diffs when installing oversized tires.

It still just works the rear brakes(or a separate parking brake), even if the axels are locked.
And no, you aren't going to get up hard terrain without slippin the clutch, especially in a heavier vehicle. No matter what your gearing is, your peak torque isn't at idle.
Dude, you prefer manual and that's cool. Nothing wrong with that and el manuelo is perfectly cabaple of off-roading but objectively automatic is superior. That's why every single modern army vehicle is automatic.

Doesn't matter which brakes it operates, all four wheels feel the braking force when engaged. And like normal handbrake usage, it's only used for that brief moment between the standard brakes and releasing the clutch.
I've never had to slip the clutch to get up something. Just pick a good line at the bottom and give it steady speed up.

            Anonymous

Well, more like the parking brake is feeling all the four wheels if you understand what I mean but yeah, if the rear loses grip the front tires will still be locked but there's the possibility of the rear losing traction and the brake giving out resulting in bad times. That's just speculating I know.
I don't understand why you can't accept that automatic is superior.
Can you give me any real cons of automatic that isn't size(as I allready mentioned that), supposed reliability(as it's higly depended on year/make/model/rest of the drivetrain/service) and "muh feel" as that's subjective

            Anonymous

            Feel is the biggest reason.
I've done most of my offroading in the San Juans in Colorado. The auto I've offroaded was a Jeep Wrangler with the Colorado package. It was fine but did not inspire a ton of confidence with the auto since you had to stand on the brakes to keep it from creeping. The Jeep had an 88:1 transfer case so it really wanted to crawl. Further despite being locked in 1st low, I had to often ride the brakes down hilsl to keep the Jeep at a reasonable speed.
My tacoma I've taken on the same trails has a 44:1 transfer case and idles at less than 1 MPH in 1st low. I wouldn't mind an 88:1 or better transfercase but the current one works very well so no need to change it yet.
I have found it much easier to offroad since it is easy to hold the handbrake and let out the clutch. I rarely had to touch the standard brakes downhill since the engine braking did a better job despite having the 44:1 transfercase compared to the 88:1 of the Jeep.
It is just a better experience to me.
Although this might be a neat mod if I ever feel the need to drop a few grand to go real slow.

I haven't driven a deuce and a half size rig offroad so if an auto is better there, I wouldn't know.

I've driven Kraz-255, Zil-131, Sisu SA-150 (standard troony) and Sisu ETP (automatic) and the automatic is so much better off-road it's unreal. Also tanks T-54, BMP-1 and MT-LB(standard) and CV90, Leopard 2 and Saurer 4K(automatic, despite the Saurer having an awfully slow automatic) and again, automatic is so much better. Cars I haven't really off-roaded(as in really hard terrain, just basic innawoods stuff: old MB G-wagen and Defender (standart) and Jeep Grand Cherokee automatic and I liked the Jeep way more than the other two

It's basically the highest price for the lowest value. Unless you put in an order two years ago at a dealership that you have a trusted family friend working at, there's basically no way you can get one without paying stupidly high markups. Dealers are basically turning the Bronco market into a bubble because of how often they're being bought and flipped by other dealers. I'd bet more Broncos are being sold to other dealers than to actual owners.
Plus they just started manufacturing them last year so the inventory is low and it's full of first-year teething problems because this is a brand new car that Ford is making, they've already had to issue recall on faulty hardtops and now engines are blowing with 3,000 miles on the odo and replacements are taking months to get in. I'm sure it'll be a good product in 1 or 2 years when demand has cooled and Ford has worked out all the kinks, but right now you either have to be insanely lucky or autistically thorough and patient to get one of these without getting fricked one way or another.
I just don't think it's worth the effort for what is, at the end of the day, a slightly more refined Jeep Wrangler.

Yeah I had to switch dealers and even fight with the one I selected to avoid markup cost. I love mine but I don’t think it’s worth and extra 10k on top of msrp.

Black hardtop? This isn't a production version, is it? The only top avail is grey.

        It's a pre-production painted hardtop.

If they had shortenned the engine bay by 15cm it would be a decent offroader

The black hardtop looks 10x better than that grey. Is it grey because they STILL can't figure out how not to make them fade? Do they have any plans to bring back the black hardtop? How can Jeep figure out black hardtops but Ford can't?

What’s the fricking point? You could build a 10/15x better off-roader at half the budget of pic related. The world has gone mad

The best off roader has a shorter wheel base. You don't want a long wheelbase under a pickup truck for a 'good' off roader. That is, if you're doing off roading under 35mph.

Mine's a 2020, but you could configure a 2022 in the exact same way. Dealers rarely order them, so I special ordered mine with the options that I wanted.

Holy shit I didn't know you could still get a single cab. I was looking at getting an extended cab Ranger but this seems like the better choice. Thanks anon.

These are great until you realize this SOB is $38k brand new with the V8.

At that point extended cab just makes too much sense.

Is it even worth getting the v8 with ferd? All their engines are unreliable garbage so might as well go with the ecoboost and save some gas

            >egoboost
            >economical
There’s less than 1mpg real-world difference between the EB and the V8 equivalent, and in exchange you get an engine significantly more complex with more points of failure

I've driven the eco boost ford trucks as well as the V8 varients, the gas mileage different is negligible. Maybe because the smaller engines are underpowered for a truck that size? Never was a fan of any turbo engines, i prefer NA for the simplicity/longevity

they took a claustrophobic two door loner pickup truck from you? maybe they were trying to encourage you to buy a quad cab, make friends, get a girlfriend, procreate.

It would probably be cheaper for them just to stick a old tech 5.0l in it. That's government regulations for ya.

Why are one of these better than just buying a TJ/LJ/4Runner and having a shop build the whole fricking thing for you if you're going to be spending in the neighborhood of 50k? It ticks the box of being built for you and not by you which some people like, and it seems like the wait time would be similar to getting one of these

Because debt slaves can't get a low interest personal loan for 50k.

Fair...but you can start with any of the vehicles I listed and have the engines and transmissions rebuilt with warranties for like what? $5-7k? I've ridden in a nu-bronco and the ride quality is no better than a TJ with a nice balanced suspension and is worlds away from a well built 3rd gen 4runner. Even after baselining you'd still be at under $20k with warrantied work...and that's on the high end. Picrel cost a friend of mine around $11k....it's not a dailyable vehicle but could have been if the build had been slightly less aggressive.

          >..it's not a dailyable
That's the problem. People buy these to daily drive. They will see a gravel road at most.

I also mentioned that it could have been with a slightly less aggressive build. That was built with a 6.0L, twin sticks, and like 18" of travel. It would actually have been cheaper to build it for the road and light off roading.

A 1999 4runner with 6 gorillion miles is like $30,000 right now you cannot get them cheap unless they are the 2wd versions or are piles of rust

I bought a 3rd gen Limited in 2020 for $3200 with 168,000 miles on the odometer. Move out of California.

Getting back to the original topic of the thread, some homosexual on YouTube claims he heard from his "sources" the 2023s are going to offer the 3.0 with the 7MT and the only reason the previous ones did not is they had not tested that combination enough yet.
Who knows if he's telling the truth but now that it's August 1st we unironically only have to wait 2 more weeks to find out

Frick I hope so anon. The 2.7 v6 is a good engine with a decade of real world use and testing to it. The second gen of it also is great. However the 2.3 is laughably sad for such a fat vehicle with massive tires on it.

I would have preferred the V6 or V8 but I'm enjoying the manual and the 2.3, I kind of wish jeep made the 2.0T with the stick and not make it V6 only

Toyota lets you order the tacoma with a stick and the V6. It's not a V8, but it's better than a i4.

    Ford should have done
    >2.7 is base engine, with options for a 5.0 and the 3.5
    >troony should have been the beefed up 10 speed in their F150s not the weaker one, and made the 7 speed pair with all of them
If the 3.5 couldn't fit the 3.0 would be ok I guess. I'm not a huge fan of the eco meme, but the 3.5 has been around for a decade and this current second generation of it is very good.
