    1. France saddled them with a huge debt as reparations for rebelling
    2. US embargoed them for ages because France asked them to
    3. US opened its subsidized agriculture market and completely killed local production and food security
    4. The rebelling slaves who became Haitians were from Africa

You're saying they failed because the US didn't trade with them, and also because the US traded too much with them?

And of those four, point 4 is by far the most important. Germany only finished paying off its World War I reparations in 2010, but it's not Haiti (yet).

    >haiti successfully overthrows french colonial powers
    >the island on which they now live was never meant to sustain any kind of meaningful population and they are forced to rely on importation to survive
    >french blockade haiti
    >"you will repay us for the entire cost our colonial holding here and we will leave"
    >predictably an island nation run by ex-slaves and semi affluent mulatto merchants, with no trade fleet nor means to sustain themselves, falls into economic ruin almost immediately
    >clearcut most of the forests on their end of the island since "make tree fall down and put on boat" is as complex an economic model as they can maintain
According to every Haitian and most Dominicans that I have met, the current plight of Haiti comes from some Faustian bargain struck with whatever powers exist in Voodoo. They gained their freedom in exchange for being perma-fricked in every imaginable sense, which seems somewhat reasonable given the history of Haiti

Then explain why Haitians having more money and smarter overseas than them despite Dominicans being more.

The only Haitians that can afford to migrate legally are already well-off. It’s why every country gives Haiti pity visa free travel status; because the average Haitian can’t even afford a plan ticket. So the Haitians that leave tend to be smarter, more educated and more wealthy than the average in Haiti.

Meanwhile Dominicans are being shipped in to western countries in bulk numbers to places like the US, Spain and Italy because the west needs more women for elderly care services. So Dominican migrants tend to be more average in income and intelligence (Average for Dominicans). It’s driven mostly by women who well then bring over their kids and worthless boyfriends.

Very simple. It's much easier to leave the Dominican Republic than Haiti and there's greater reason to leave Haiti so those who can do. Does your dumb ass think the soil is just better on one half of a tiny island by random chance or something? lol holy shit are you moronic?

The Napoleonic Code, unironically. Haitians adopted it after the revolution which caused a steady reduction in land plot size over time, leading to land overuse and soil degradation.

What elements or laws in the Napoleonic code led to a steady reduction in land plot size? Could this have happened under other regimes typical of the era? And were there similar effects in other places that applied Code Civil

The inheritance laws requiring parceling out of land to heirs.

I sometimes wonder if something this moronic would have occured in any west indian nation had the blacks been given freedom prematurely. Imagine if this shit happened to Jamaica.

      Anonymous

It's not exactly moronic. It's just the typical shit that happens in many places were deforestation occurs which is a problem in the Caribbean in general.

They cut down the trees for coal and yes it is moronic because at their latitude you get mud banks once you remove any forest. You would think jungle dwellers like blacks would instinctively be aware of this.
