Depends if he writes software or not. If his job is basically Excel then he would be right to stick with Windows.

windows 10/11 unironically gets in my way more than linux does. only windows machine i have runs ltsc windows 10 just so i can play tarkov. i would drop that piece of shit os the moment they ported it to linux but sadly that isn't happening.

there is (it's called onlyoffice) but IT department has a budget that they have to spend and if you donate that money to a non-profit developing open source software instead ceo is gonna have a stroke.

I get paid to set up Linux servers. I always hear these arguments about muh work and muh time from winshitters on here. The reality is the only thing you really waste your time on with Linux is setting it up in the first place. Windows is a little bit easier in that regard. If something goes wrong with Windows the error messages are much more cryptic and troubleshooting is a bitch. I still use Windows 10 on my home PC but I will go to Linux at some point instead of upgrading to 11.

Windows 10 with WSL (windows subsystem for linux).

    Problem solved.
    With windows I get
    >>word

    with wsl I get
    >>run time environment for node, java, python and c.
    >>bash

I am past 30, and have kids, can't be bothered to tinker with my OS for stupid reasons.

Where does the Linux user = OS tinkerer meme come from? I run arch simply because I am a paranoid schizo who values privacy. The only "tinkering" I do with my system is running "sudo pacman -Syyu" every month or so. Other than that I just use my computer for actual work.

TBF I used to do that myself back when I first got into Linux.
What stopped me was using Linux as my daily driver. I don't want to tinker with my system when I've got all of my data on the line.

I'm not going to purity spiral like that. Running arch fits my threat model perfectly fine. If I become a big enough target for Israelis to compromise my CPU, it's over anyways.

Imagine caring or giving a fuck about the opinions of nobodies on an anonymous forum enough to make a thread questioning said opinions instead of ignoring two homosexuals squabbling and moving on to something even marginally more interesting.
